Palau Sator is one of the medieval villages in Girona's Alt Ampurda and together with Peratallada, Pals and other make a must visit to the region with a gastronomical adventure as the bonus. We have been enjoying great meals in this area for years, a visit to Can Salo was our most recent one. This is a straight 5 starts review, the setup, the old "masia" where the restaurant is placed, the service and attentiveness are all excellent. We started with an array of entries to share; gambas the Salou, caracoles, cuttlefish croquettes, "pa amb tomaquet". The bread and tomato are served "before assembly" you get the toasted bread, garlic, tomato and olive oil and is up to you to do it the way you like it. The cuttlefish croquets were better than ones enjoyed two days before in La Barceloneta. The main entrees were cannelloni, "galtas de vadella", fish terrine and escalivada. My wife loved the escalivada (peppers, eggplant and onions) with goat cheese while I devoured the cannelloni, typical comfort food for me. The veal cheeks pack with flavor and dissolved in your mouth. I don't live in Catalonia anymore and meals like these are one of the reasons I ask myself why. read more
