My mother patronized Greenberg's in the 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's. She remained a faithful customer after she married at bought shoes for her family into the 80's. I have fond memories of Mr. Greenberg and my mother in heated "negotiations", which they both seemed to really enjoy. I can still see and remember Mr. Greenberg. The prices and the quality couldn't be beat! I thought Id Google Greenberg Shoe Store and lo and behold, the family is still in business selling shoes. Next time I'm rolling through Central Illinois I'm going to get some nice dress loafer. I'll miss the old downtown location though, with shoeboxes stacked to the ceiling. An hour into our appointment, the owner yelled at us in front of the entire store and said that we needed to leave because we were just playing in her dresses and weren't going to buy one. It was awful and humiliating. We were not being disrespectful whatsoever. The owner only cares about money and once she has your money for a wedding dress, you and your group are wasting her time because you're not forking over the money for a wedding dress.
