As part of my real-life job I have the opportunity to tour the Tampa area YMCA's and participate in their annual safety inspections. Our risk management team recently visited the Campo Family YMCA off of Bloomingdale Road in Valrico / Lithia and we were very impressed by what we saw. The Campo Y has the largest number of members of any of the YMCA's in the Tampa region, and so the staff is constantly walking through the facility and around the pool area to check on the well-being of their members. This time of year the Campo Y is filled with young kids enjoying their summer vacations, and so it is especially important to be sure that everyone is safe. Immediately upon entering the Y you're greeted by several people who will scan in your ID and get you on your way towards the pool or workout areas. If you have questions about special classes or want to get the little ones enrolled in summer camp then there are plenty of people at the front desk who can help. There is a large area just past the main desk which is filled with treadmills, StairMasters, bicycles, rowing machines, free weights, and aerobic and strength training machines. I am sure that this area is packed during the after-work rush, but in the middle of the day there is plenty of room for everyone. There are a variety of workout rooms for Zumba, Spinning, Step Aerobics and so on, and a large basketball gymnasium towards the back of the facility. The locker rooms are large and well-maintained, with rubber mats on the floor to prevent slipping. The mats guide you through the locker rooms, and out to the pool area. Everyone passes by the lifeguard station before being allowed out onto the pool deck. Children are given a color-coded wrist bracelet to show if they are a skilled swimmer, and the circulating lifeguards watch the children very carefully to be sure that they stay in the correct areas. There is a main pool for lap swimmers and Adults, an infinity edge pool with all sorts of climbing options and slides for the young kids, and a third pool with several water slides. This is a very family-friendly facility, and the staff goes out of their way to be sure that their members have a safe and enjoyable experience while visiting the Campo Y. I'm impressed by what I saw on my inspection!

Body Pump with Kathy, great way to end a hard day.

Examples: -Last year I asked to move my class from one open class to another because my sister went into labor and they said they couldn't waive the $12 late cancel fee (due to company policy) -This morning I was :15 seconds over the time where you can be late to class and I was not let in (due to company policy) -That same sister who went into labor didn't feel like the workout was safe to do through her her pregnancy (due to drs orders) and tried to cancel and was charged for two months she couldn't use. She understood and asked if she could have her husband or father use those 2 months since again, her fitness level wasn't enough high enough to safely do HIIT while pregnant - they said no (due to company policy). They still call her every week to get her to rejoin. If you're looking for a great workout - it's hard to not to love OTF, but seriously weigh other options and read the Reddit before joining.

The coaches are pretty great and they are doing a great job with cleanliness and social distancing during the pandemic.

First, I want to say thank you for providing a business open 24 hours HOWEVER overall it is run…read morepoorly in regard to management. You would think a business with a 24 hour system is supposed to be convenient from start to finish, well I was mistaken. After attempting to cancel repeatedly - it took us going inside to do so as well as incurring a $25 fee and another month of membership. Here is the process to cancel: 1) Snail Mail a Letter to the Gym. 2) Then go inside and sign a cancellation letter The problem with ALL OF THIS. There isn't a system of when the letter arrives or does not arrive. No one from management responds to emails. Phone calls are not monitored either. If you choose to start your membership here, be aware of this. It left a very bad taste in my mouth so I would never return. Other than that, it is a typical gym.... Has what you "need", will have the usual over zealous amounts of people like any other place, trainers on site and decent monthly pricing with annual fee. Unsure if everyone has the same annual fee, but it is there.

This gym location is a complete dump. Equipment is dirty, outdated, or in need of repair. The…read morefacility is small and can run without any staff, ever. "Staff" consist of high school kids sitting on their phones doing literally nothing. Not that I care about that but this gym could easily be in better shape if someone would get up and do something...the worst part about this gym are the restrooms. Two of the three restrooms don't even have a soap dispenser... another restroom doesn't have a toilet seat...Nobody wipes down the equipment and it shows. Only reason i joined this gym is because it's 24 hours and close to my house. I'll give it one more month to see if anything changes, very doubtful. DIRTY AF! *This review is specifically for the Boyette location.
