So, my rating is based on us spending the night in our RV. I phoned on Saturday to inquire if they allow travelers to spend the night, because not all Camping Worlds allow it. Yes, they allow it. BONUS! They asked when we would arrive, I told her Sunday evening. Ok, I will have our store manager meet you. We will be later because we wanted to stop at some area spots first. As we were getting closer, my husband suggested I phone them. Only to find out that they are closed on Sundays. Ummm... so, was this store manager planning to come in on an off day to greet us??? We figured that there would be some indication where to park. And, yes, a sign, RV parking... We followed it, as our local Camping world told us that ALL camping worlds offer a 'safe space' for RV's to park and plug in for the night. Nope, nothing like that where the signs indicated. In fact, no space at all where the signs indicated. However, on the opposite side of the store we found a plug in port. WIN! However it was by the garage bay doors. Ok, the places doesn't open until 9am, so, no worries about being in the way. However, made a point to NOT block the doors. We arrived about 10pm, got settle, felt grateful for the spot, set up. About 11:30pm or so a very loud white pick up truck pulled up behind us, turned off their engine and got out talking. Oh, crap, what in the heck is going on. We turned off the lights and made sure all 5 of us were silent. Relief flooded when they left... until they turned off their headlights. They drove around to the adjacent parking lot, cut their engine. They decided, as loudly as possible to (what appeared to be) dumpster dive. Now, we were adamant not to make ourselves noticeable. They sat there until almost 1AM loudly clamoring through the dumpsters. Now, all 5 of us are wide awake hiding in our motor home as quietly as possible. They left and my husband sat up all night while the rest of us slept. I would highly suggest if you do not need to plug in to boondock at Cracker Barrel which is barely a block away. I have parked at Cracker Barrel's before and felt way more secure and safe than in this parking lot. Unfortunately we needed to plug in, otherwise we would have moved as soon as the dumpster divers moved on. read more

They're the stereotypical stealership. They act like you owe them your business. Their loan officer is an absolute con-artist. He would not take no for an answer. They make their money selling loans, insurance and expensive camping gear and it shows. Very aggressive and predatory sales behavior. read more

Well the service just finally called us back after many days of asking them for help with our camper that we bought from them and the managed of the service department told us to eff of because we no longer were in that state. We were very curious about the "new" Gander Mountain so we stopped in one Friday night shortly after this store was remodeled. I'm sorry to say that the visit made me pretty sad. I'm not going to say I'm a retail industry expert, but I did spend several years writing about the retail business in a past career, so I tend to notice things that other people don't. In a nutshell, this store is seriously confused, and it's not a very pleasant shopping experience. It made me sad since the Gander brand has such a legacy in this area. First, they changed the name from Gander Mountain to Gander Outdoor and changed not only the logo but the signature green color to a crisp blue and white. It just looked so weird and foreign for anyone with any association with the Gander brand. It wasn't just new and modern. It was weird and completely disassociated with the previous brand. I understand it's a different company now, but it would have been nice to see some sort of connection to the previous brand that people know and love. Second, the store was just really confused on the merchandising side. There was a bizarre mix of really high-end pricey brands and cheap stuff you'd find at large discount retail stores. Kind of like a cross between Big Lots and REI. The merchandise was kind of spread throughout the store and divided into rough sections. But then there were things that just didn't have a logical home and were therefore just kind of "wherever"... For example, there were several areas of the very large store where we found different kinds of coolers. If I came here shopping for a cooler, I'd need to walk the entire 200K square foot floor to understand all of my options. If I came here looking for camping or fishing gear, I'd be confused to find fatire bikes, stand up paddle boards, a variety of dog toys and a strange myriad of items specifically for people who own RVs (which I'm guessing may be overflow stock from the somehow affiliated Camping World chain?). The apparel section is almost laughable as it's tiny and again feels like it's just full of clearance merchandise that didn't move somewhere else. There's no rhyme or reason and doesn't seem inviting or appealing. When I go to Cabela's or a Bass Pro Shop store, I almost always look around the women's clothes department. But this clothing area didn't even make me want to break my stride to look. The entire store just seemed really strangely organized and didn't make sense to me at all as a shopper. It really seems like they have no idea who is shopping there or what they're looking for, so it's a hodgepodge of everything thrown into the same space. In addition, the store is huge and difficult to navigate. The shelves are so high that it makes it impossible for someone to look across the entire floor and know where stuff is. The signage in the store is too small across the board. It's tough to understand where the different departments were from the front of the store (even if the merchandise that should be in each department was actually contained to that department). And even the signs that mark what's in each individual aisle are too small to read until you're on top of them. It's a big store, roughly the size of maybe a Walmart Supercenter. It's a shame they didn't make it easier to figure out. Most confusingly, there are some big signs, but they're for specific gun brands, Overton's and things that don't help a shopper navigationally at all. We were there when they weren't busy but the staff seemed pretty bored. In all, it just really made me sad. If this is what the "new Gander" is going to be like, I'm afraid we won't be shopping there very often. read more

Used to love Gander Mountain. Will never step into Gander Outdoors. Bought a Christmas present(rod and reel). It broke this spring on the first fish caught. Took it into the Lakeville store and the first question I was asked was "Did you buy the extended warranty package?". Really! On a rod and reel? I asked if I could exchange it and was told that there was nothing that could be done. Yes there is! I will never come back and I will tell everyone I know about this experience. Grew up coming to this place for as long as I can remember for thirty years. I remember it had mounted elk, deer, ram, bear, etc in it towards the ceiling across the store and my dad always made me give him credit for his work which was more than adequate. I don't even like to hunt it's just another sad example of how businesses change for the worse and this is another prime example. It changed names from Gander Mountain, to Gander Outdoors to Camping World a few years ago and always had tons of fishing stuff. Am blown away all they have is gigantic RVs jammed packed in the store with just some camping equipment scattered around the back of the store. How did this happen? Talk about a disappointment and let down. Never shopping here again and feel sick about this. I live in Northfield and this is the closest place so had to drive all the way to Richfield to get to tackle such a joke. This place used to be packed with people coming and going constantly like clock work, so busy on the weekends so much hustle n bustle. Now look at it, bunch of guys standing around talking looking at campers, what a disgrace. How is this ethical or logical doesn't make any sense to me. I'm pissed. read more

I came here when they first opened. I had an weird feeling about the place as I had an open love for gander mountain and this just seemed weird and I am mad that gander mountain was so miss managed. I vowed not to return. If I wouldn't have returned, I wouldnt have written A review. I returned and hence the 1 star. I got coupons in the mail and 20% off and a chat with a buddy made me give a chance as I 'needed' a new fishing rod. Was met at the door with a sign saying closing early due to inventory. I had 30 minutes. To the empty fishing rod dept. No one there to help, they had no rods, a couple of good deals too that would have made me happy. After 25 min, I was able to ask where the sale stuff was at and was told they been out for a while and he didn't know when stuff was coming. Hmmmm. Disappointing to say the least. My coupon expired now and I can't see how I could possibly EVER return here. 2x and both bad, thank good for fleet farm. If you need nicer stuff, Cabelas is well worth the drive. read more

Our experience with Gander RV was awful and i will not spend another dime in their store. Our sales guy was good, very knowledgeable. However, when we found what we wanted I specifically asked if the air conditioner and everything else was inspected and in working order to which he replied, "Yes, all RV's get a full inspection when they come in. We needed a brake controller installed which we had done at Gander RV. We were never notified it was complete. We had to initiate all contact and we weren't even called when it was finished. When My wife called to check that it was complete we were informed that the Air Conditioner didn't work on our newly purchaed camper nor did they have to fix it. This was a deal breaker, I specifically asked if it worked and was told yes, we'd of never of bought the camper knowing it didn't work. My wife gave them the options of cancelling the sale, fixing the AC at zero cost, or refunding us enough that we could take it elsewhere to get it fixed. The sales manager told us he would fix it at no cost to us even if it meant replacing the entire system. 7 Days later our RV still wasn't ready, once again we had to call because nobody ever checked in with us. We were told parts were on order to fix the AC and as soon as they arrive they'll install it and give us a call. By this point we were on a deadline because we were planning on taking the camper on a trip and we were assured it would be ready.... Gander called us no joke right at store close the night before we needed the camper so when i missed the call i couldn't call them back. They left a message saying the AC was fixed. the next day we called and was informed there was never anything wrong with the AC, it just needed cleaned out from leaves clogging it up... OK, Then what were parts ordered for and who was the service tech that made the initial diagnosis because we're either being lied to or the service tech is incompetent, both issues that make me lose faith in their ability to fix future issues. Anyway, we did the walk around and were shown all the features, set up, and tear down... Next, more delays as we were told to have a seat and someone would be with us to finish the paperwork. Keep in mind I already said we were on a deadline because we were going on a vacation we should have been home packing. 45 minutes later we're finally met by an employee that had us come to his office to complete paperwork and give us a sales pitch on several different warranties which took an hour. After we were done we were told to take a seat and someone would be with us for the retail walk...Another 45 minute wait. Did the retail walk, purchased the recommended basics and was informed there was a $250 charge because they didn't quote us enough in labor for the initial install of the Brake Controller nor did they ever call us to inform us of the billing discrepancy. Anyway, time to leave I go to hook up to the camper and the Ball hitch sold to me BY GANDER when I thought I had paid to have the brake controller installed didn't fit. I already had a 2 inch hitch and they told me that was the wrong size, sold me a 2 5/16" hitch. It was nearly 4 hours from the time I arrived to pick up until i was finally hooked up and heading home. I get home and about 2 hours later I get a phone call....They forgot to have me sign the paperwork for the title and asked me to come back. I wasn't going back so thankfully they brought the paperwork to me to sign. The entire experience was a nightmare and the only person I felt did a great job was the sales associate that did the retail walk with us. read more

Worst experience buying anything we have ever had. Sales and finance staff were dishonest. Service staff was incompetent. Bought a used 2021 camper in June of 2022. It has had too many problems to list. Most of which should have been caught during the service prep that we paid a $700 fee for. The first and only time we used the camper all summer the toilet leaked. Then after sitting on the lot of a different camping location for a month, we picked up the camper and the roof leaked. Since we purchased in June, it has been in Camping Worlds possession more than ours. We don't even want the camper anymore after this terrible experience and Camping World refuses a buyback. Since I can't give zero stars, I will say the 1 star goes to the retail department. They were very nice to work with. read more

If I could give it a zero I would. Worst service department ever. Had our camper 5 months and the slide out started to leak making the floor/carpet wet. Took it in for warranty work 6 months ago, got it back today and the carpet is still wet! I don't think they did anything! Not sure what to do now, it's camping season and I don't have a useable camper. Absolutely horrible customer service. DO NOT SPEND A DIME IN THIS STORE, they do not stand behind their products. read more

Everything in this review is my personal opinion, based on my experiences with the company. I just say this because this is the kind of company that would probably sue someone for a bad review, so let's be clear that everything is my opinion, as if I have to say that, but let's keep the lawyers happy. Anyway, in my opinion, Gander Outdoors is dishonest and incompetent and I'll tell you why. Now to be clear, I'm not talking about any specific GO retail store, but rather the online ordering company itself. I ordered a safe from them in September 2018 and was promised delivery on five separate dates. They kept apologizing and giving me a new, later date. To date, December 2018, I still have no safe and they keep encouraging me to cancel my order, I believe so they won't have to give me the safe at the good price I obtained from their online store. In over fifty years of retail buying, this is by far the worst company I have dealt with, and I say that as a Camping World customer and Elite Good Sams Club member. I should also note that I spoke to the safe company manufacturer and they say that the safes are readily available, so Gander Outdoor's statement to me that they are not available from the manufacturer is, in my opinion, a fabrication. Bottom line, DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY if your want a pleasant shopping experience. Update: I just cancelled my safe order with Gander Outdoors, so I guess I gave them what they wanted by letting them off the hook. Let's just hope I get my refund - past experience says I'll have to fight them for my own money that they've had since September 2018, since unlike everyone else, they require payment in full at time of sale, not when they ship. READ BEFORE ORDERING ONLINE I order two Carhartt hoodies on 10/13 it states will ship out in 5-7 business days. I have not received any tracking info to date. I have contacted the company both through email and phone with no real customer service help. Requested an refund as of today was told by rep that he would put in a request for the order cancellation but could not promise anything. I visited the newly configured "Gander Outdoors" a couple of months ago and found the place to be a step up from the old Gander Mountain. I agree with a previous reviewer that the store is busy and confused but I think the idea of being more dedicated to all outdoor sports vs. simply hunting and fishing is an advantage when you have so much retail space. In general though I find Gander Outdoors about as acceptable as the old Gander Mountain which is to say not very much. The problem, in my view, with Gander Mountain and now Gander Outdoors is and has always been the employees. The lack of enthusiasm and near indifference to the customer is what made me leave Gander Mountain years ago and sadly that same dynamic seems to apply Gander Outdoor.....I understand the concept of hiring people who have some level of expertise and knowledge in specific areas but that should never trump actual customer service skills. Also, if you are trying to keep expenses low and think that hiring high-schoolers and college kids on break will do that you are being penny-wise and pound foolish. And if you think some old curmudgeonly former fishing guide with no people skills or basic courtesy will enhance your bottom line then, again, you are mistaken. Sorry but this is the reality that years of shopping at your store and finally giving up have taught me and I don't see anything to lead me to another conclusion about Gander Outdoors. Lastly, not everyone is a fan of country music and almost no one wants to shop where the music is so loud you have to shout to have a conversation so it's about time someone actually looked at the customer experience if they want to stay in business. read more

My wife and I are extremely satisfied with the great service we have received at Gander Outdoor in Lakeville. The store has been totally refurbished and looks great. It is well stocked and the prices are very competitive. The best part is the professional, courteous staff. The retired Marine in the Firearms Department knows his products and is a very personable young man. With the Good Sam's Membership it is no problem getting a much better price than the farm store across the highway. We've purchased a couple of firearms there and will be checking out some BBQ Grills in the near future. read more

If I could give this company 0 stars I would. TRASH company, employees gossip non stop. Tyler (bigger gy with a backwards hat) constantly vapes, hits on the girls and they look so uncomfortable. This guy is a manager.. disgusting. He is rude and so inexperienced it is hard to watch him talk. The GM Jim ( I think) is just as worse except he is older and spends his time talking to the front desk girls or conning you into joining their dumb rewards program for his own metrics, I got signed up for the membership and I didn't want it. Then I noticed Tyler also put a protection plan on my chair, I denied it when he asked but he did it anyways!! Then don't get me started on the short blonde receptionist, she brings her dog in and is abusive to the dog, when she talks to you on the phone she is SO rude and snippy. If you hate your job quit don't make the rest of us suffer. I have been in a handful of times and holy cow this place needs new management. The only time I had a good experience is when the gun sale was happening, an over worked blonde was so kind in explaining everything and took her time with the firearm sale as the rest of the firearms staff would just walk away (Tyler, Jim, and some red head), I also had a pleasant time with Justine and a lady named Hannah great customer service and not pushy. read more

Recently purchased a handgun with the usual expectation to take delivery within 3 days. Three days is the maximum amount of time required by Federal Law to approve or deny the transaction. After 3 days the transaction must be completed. Gander has chosen to override the Federal Law and increase the time to 8 days. Why 8 days and not 5 or 10?! Very dissapointed as I had plans to go shooting with some friends and was counting on taking delivery within 3 days. I do not understand but respect their corporate policy but the sales person should have explained the possibility to have to wait 8 days. There is an abundance of gun stores where I live and I could have taken my business somewhere else if I was properly informed. read more
