Last year, my 6yo (at the time) son had a great experience at Camp Terry so we went ahead and…read moresigned him up for 3 weeks this year. Unfortunately, Camp Terry management changed and things took a huge turn for the worst. On the 2nd day, counselors complained that he was crying loudly and walked away from the bathroom line. I asked what happened at it seemed that a couple kids skipped him in line and then a kid did the same thing later the same day. I told them that it sounds like bullying and asked them to look into it. They did not take this seriously. Things escalated. My son was punished for crying that led to him potentially acting out. He didn't want to return so he took a day off and we both went in the next day. On the day that we returned, we went to a playground initially. At the playground, my kid started to get frustrated at some cheating during a game but he was able to work with a counselor to get the issue resolved. Other than that he was chill played well with others, etc. The next stop was Enchanted Farms, (an amazing site/will review). One child was so poorly behaved at EF that the site manager asked him, to stand near him while he gave instructions on feeding the animals to the other ~15 kids. A couple other kids almost feed rocks to the animals and were a bit out of hand but most of the kids were very respectful to the animals and the business as a whole. Most of the kids including mine, seemed to deeply appreciate the experience. The next day, I dropped my son off at camp and I made sure that he was ready to call me from his watch as needed. I dropped him off at 9:30am and got a call in less than 2 hours. It seemed that some of the more disruptive kids in his group were calling him names and that the counselor couldn't take the time to tell them to stop. When we were on the speakerphone, I could hear other kids talking about the name calling and taunting that was happening to my son. I hopped in the car and called the camp manager to let him know that I was on my way. When I arrived, the site manager said he spoke with my son's counselor. The counselors said that he was aware that my son was being teased and that we ran off to call me before he could address the situation. I told him that I could hear the taunting on the speaker phone so he couldn't have run too far and that while no name calling is acceptable, what I heard was worse than the counselor acknowledged. 7 yo's can easily be redirected by counselors if they are willing to take the time. Furthermore, teasing and bullying is clearly out of alignment with Y-core values. The brochures state that Y-values matter but the execution falls far from that mark. I am not sure what is happening at Camp Terry but I can't keep my child in that environment. He will stay with us for the rest of his sessions and we will see what we can recoup from the costs. I called to enroll my son in YMCA summer camp. I work in Bellevue, WA but live in Seattle, WA. More…read morecentral district area. I spoke with a representative to see which location was closer to my job (trying to create an easier commute). She huffed and puffed and said I could do it online (should've been my first red flag). I went online I enrolled him in the Bailey Gatzert location for all 10 weeks. It was asking for one week payment immediately. I called in and advised I needed to split payment between my card and the state subsidy. They completed the enrollment (for a completely different location than I enrolled). They gave me the provider ID so now my subsidy is attached to this strange location that I did not enroll him in. Today was his first day of camp. I made my payment , I filled out forms and I dropped my child off. When I arrived to the camp they said the tablet was down and if I could sign in on paper. So I did and so did the other moms. I'm at work and a random number calls me twice. (I assume it's and emergency, so I excuse my self from work and take the call. ) it's the summer camp yelling me he is at the wrong location. "I've been trying to find him in the system for hours and I finally realized he's not coming up cause he belongs at Concord.) I ask her where is Concord. Concord is 40min away in west Seattle! But over an hr way during rush hour from my job. I'm advised to call registration and have him switched over. But they can't guarantee. I called registration and IMMEDIATELY I was told they have to find out whose fault it is before they can switch him over. She puts me on hold and never comes back. I hang up and got another representative. I immediately ask for a supervisor; and she immediately starts making excuses that a 5-10 min hold is acceptable because they have to pull the phone calls. (It's never acceptable). After several reps who lack empathy, accountability and any level of customer service I was advised by a supervisor that YMCA did no wrong by changing my registration; (it was my responsibility to some how notice she changed the location) ; my child could not be transferred to the correct location this week. They in fact wanted me to make the commute to Concord for the week and then they would switch me over. This means the camp I enrolled him in wasn't over booked or understaffed or any real reason she switched his camp over. They refuse to release my voucher for this current week cause apparently they deserve to be paid this week for their incompetence. As a mom or a parent we make tough decision on the regular. Missing a week of work for YMCAs incompetence was not on my tough decision list but here I am. I won't even begin to discuss how unsafe it was for my child to be at a location all day where it was no record of him having been there. When I picked my son up the manager had already lied to the location and told them my child would be going to Concord for a week and then returning to Bailey Gatzert. ‍

I wish I had read the reviews here before signing my kid up for camp…read more In Feb 2023, I signed my 8 yr old up for 2 weeks of summer camp in July 2023. I signed him up to a morning camp & afternoon camp (2 camps held during the same week to ensure he was in an all-day camp). 7 days before the camp, I got an email confirming his upcoming camp & instructions on where to park, what to bring, etc. 4 days before the camp start date, they emailed me saying that both camps were cancelled due to not insufficient enrolled campers. I just cannot believe how little notice they gave me. They did offer alternatives like signing up for another week or taking my kid to the Redmond location (which was not feasible for our family ). In the first couple of emails they sent me, they did not offer me the opportunity to get a refund. I had to ask. I also asked that they call me - I thought it would be easier to communicate rather than exchange emails, but they were reluctant to do so. There is no phone number listed on their website. On the refund email, there is a phone number listed but when I called, I found out the number was not in service. When the manager finally called me, he was nice and understanding, but ultimately there was nothing he could do. Luckily I asked about the following week's camp and he informed me that the following week is also cancelled. I'm glad I asked, otherwise I don't know when they would have informed me (why they didn't inform me of all the cancelations all at once is beyond me). My kid was so excited for this camp! It's so disappointing. And now, it's way too late to find any other summer camp in Seattle for next week. I am stuck trying to find other childcare options. I can't speak about the quality of the camp, but Coding With Kids is definitely not being run professionally based on my experience.
