There were plenty of families enjoying the water, fishing, or just hanging out. There are plenty of trees on the property as well as open grassy areas. The owners are very friendly. Friendly and helpful staff. Pontoon and fishing boats, and padddleboard rentals are available. We rented a pontoon boat but the one we were given wasn't quite what was described to us. It was pretty beat up and old. They were apologetic and offered us a refund instead of taking it out, but we did anyway and made the most of it. We have a 5th wheel so don't need lots of amenities, but there is only one shower in each bathroom at the main store area. It's new and clean, but there is only one. No laundry either. And no trash pickup at the pad sites, so bring lots of large trash bags and plan to carry it to the dumpster each day. The store carries lots of necessities for camper upkeep but minimal food, beverage and sundries. Overall a good experience.

I have some acreage near Palestine but it's so rough I couldn't get my 34' travel trailer in…read morewithout dragging, so I set out to look for a commercial RV park close by. Man, was I happy to find Palestine RV Park! It's a fairly small park tucked away in the trees, with many long-term residents. However, they also cater to short term stays. I had my trailer there for four days. The sites are huge, with 30 and 50 amp electrical, water, and sewer. Roads in and around the park are asphalt paved, but the sites are unpaved, and it's fine sand that gets in EVERYTHING, so be sure to bring some doormats or something. The park is quiet (park rules say that quiet hours are from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave, lol) and pitch dark at night, but there are pole lamps at the sites that you can plug in and use if you need additional lighting. Angela, the owner, met me at the gate in her UTV and led me directly to my site, where she did the paperwork and payment, then offered to help me set up my trailer! There's a nice laundry and shower building near the entrance. The park has controlled access with keypads and a gate controller, and you can come and go as you please. Everyone I encountered there was friendly and helpful. I'll definitely stay there again! p.s. Be sure to look for Bigfoot when you're there! ;-)

The first night I noticed an earwig on the bed but no big deal. Second night came to the cabin and the ROACHES were on everything and even in the fridge!! Immediately messaged the owner and crickets. No response. Not even a sorry about that. Figured he's older maybe he's sleeping but no. Still no response on Sunday morning nor Monday morning. Hundreds of LITTLE ROACHES hiding in the baseboards of the house. DISGUSTING! Figured maybe he didn't know about the situation but his silence speaks louder than my screams when a ROACH touches me!
