They told me all the big sand dunes are south of reedsport and the john dellenback trail was recommended. No ATVs are allowed here so you don't have to worry about being run over while trekking the dunes. They accept multiple passes here, just make sure whatever you are using is displayed on your dashboard. There are bathrooms that are pit toilets but the women's was locked when I was there so everyone had to use the men's side

One of…read morethe huge benefits of the trail is that there is no recreational vehicle use allowed there, so you don't have to worry about being run over by a dune buggy or atv while taking in the beauty of the dunes. To get to the trail, take the turn for the eel creek campground and follow signs for the trailhead. There are bathroom facilities available. Make sure to purchase a pass- you can purchase a single day pass on location or purchase a yearly pass for all the Oregon state parks in Coos Bay at the visitor center for about $30. If you are the active type, you can rent a sandboard and sandboard down the dunes, which is a lot of fun! The trail begins in a wooded area and takes you down a path of dirt that gradually turns into sand as you arrive near the dunes. You see a lot of local plants and wildlife, and there are some exhibits to check out and rest spots with benches along the way. The trail will begin to take an upturn and then you will suddenly come out of the trees onto what looks like a huge desert.... it is breathtaking! You can take the same way back on your way out or for some new sights take the trail located closer to the large mountain-esque dune. Really good hike for kids- they love rolling down the dunes and feeling the sand between their toes. Just be sure you are okay with finding sand everywhere for the next month. Happy hiking!

this is an absolutely belated review (i visited this past summer), but from time to time I'll think…read moreback on my hike here: wow is an understatement. to visit south slough is to truly pause and appreciate our delicate ecosystems. such tranquility, much needed solace. the salty air literally invites a few deep breaths. i imagine mary oliver often watches in awe from above. south slough is a gem, and i was impressed by just how maintained the reserve is kept. it definitely is worth the drive here, but just know that the drive can be a little bumpy and windy, if you get car sick easily like me. once you're here, there's several trail options.

They allow dogs on the trail as long as they're leash and you clean up after them so regular rolls in my opinion. It's a great place to hike with your dog. The trails are decently maintained they are easy to follow and the signage is really clear. I've wandered many trails one that hook up and Link into another trial and one that I've made a choice to walk down a different path and no matter how long I've walked and how many different trails I've taken we've never got lost. It's a great place to grow mushroom hunting as well. I've never run into any problems with trickers or transients. Every trial we've ever taken has led to a positive outcome. I probably spent 15 hours hiking here with my dog and her friends. It's free and not too far away from whiskey run if you want to hit the beach. I don't know anything about The interpreter center or classes they offer here because I have never been here without my pup.

After reading reviews, we were hesitant to take the drive to these falls. There was mention of 8…read moremiles of gravel road with potholes that leads to the trail heads. But go we did. Turns out it is 5 miles of gravel road with the aforementioned potholes. Very slow going and dusty. It took over an hour to drive from Coos Bay. Which would have been okay if the falls were overly impressive which unfortunately they weren't. It has been very dry so there was very little water in the falls. There are massive rocks that the falls trickle over. If you want to get a little closer to the falls you will need to climb over fallen rocks. The trails need maintenance as the brush is intruding and parts of the trail are crumbling away. The area has a jungle like feeling with all the trees, ferns and other greenery. There are three trails. One to Silver Falls, one to the bottom of Golden Falls, and one closer to the tops of the falls. We hiked all three and it took about 1 1/2 hours. There are restrooms at the trail head, and an information stand. Personally, I would skip it unless the falls were full of water. Not worth getting the car dirty and challenging the suspension!

The…read moresituation has been discussed several times over the last 10 months When we moved here we were told better internet will be here in a couple of weeks and new arrived 4 months later and it is as bad as the previous and management refuses to do anything as it might cost more money (direct quote) I have never had the problem at any RV park I have lived in. The fact is the signal is so weak that even our Firestick with a booster will not connect. We were told we could get our own internet, and many people do that but, I will not. The WiFi is advertised on their website and it is false advertising. I have WORKED for 50 years on computers and have managed to keep the green light on and working with some very complicated computer systems. I am not a light weight when it comes to computers I have done a bit of programming. We were given a rent reduction because we wondered why new residents were given a better rate so ours was reduced by $100 probably for only one month. That does not alleviate the problem with the WiFi which I need because I am going to have to use it to work as my partner just had his $600 SSI check taken away, thank you DONNY, for removing the check of a disabled Vet. There is no sympathy or help from management and I am not able to work on the internet because every time I try the signal is so weak that the work times out; companies do not pay for time outs. Oh, by the way the satellite TV also sucks it has 17 channels and most of them are useless for anyone with half a brain to watch. If you have a high end RV you will want to be aware of the craters in the park that they routinely throw a little gravel in the holes when they should be using Quickcrete. When it rains the water around the office is ankle deep and you have to wade through it to get into the office, no apologies. When I asked about a French drain they said it had already been done. Later, I found out why; the park sits in the middle of a wetland and it will never be dry here, I cannot keep my spices dry or my sugar or my flour. We are looking further north so don't say why do you not move, We are seniors living on a fixed income and now even that has been greatly reduced, so moving is not so easy and when your health is not great it is very hard. Being told to move to another site in the park,requires bringing in the slides and makes a huge amount of work and management either does not know or does not care what it requires for two seniors (almost 80) to make that move just across the park. When I move it will not be to relocate just to get the internet. Make your own decisions. These are my opinions.

You also get a discount on your propane refills if you stay in the park to make up for the electric charge. You can put storage buildings on your site or build a porch for your RV. They have a pet area for the furbabies, and best of all, NO BREED OR WEIGHT RESRTICTIONS!! The only rule is they must be well mannered and friendly. The owner lives in the park, but he takes care of his wife who is terminally sick, so you don't see him much. Overall, this park is GREAT! The facilities are upkept and clean, the staff is friendly and helpful, it is conviently located about 2mi from The Dunes, and witnin walking distance for crabbing and fishing in Winchester Bay, OR right on Hwy 101, and best of all AFFORDABLE! If you are coming through the area stop in and stay awhile, you won't regret it!

We were only able to find this place after having help from a local and had driven for miles already. If you make a right turn out of the elk viewing area a few hundred yards down the road on the left is an unmarked wooden gate. Park on the right side of the road and cross the highway and you should see benches and trees, maybe flowers just past the gate. This is how you will know that you are in the right place and not someone's property. Also, you can find directions to this garden via google maps, but it will ONLY show up if you google 48043 State Highway 38. It will NOT show up if you google Hinsdale Garden or even Hinsdale Rhododendron Garden. Pictures are included to help identify the area. The garden itself is not too big, but nice and there are bathrooms (porda-potties) if needed. My family just went there and it was completely private yet beautiful since there were still trees in bloom. I hope this helps anyone else trying to find the garden! :)

This location is absolutely stunning in the springtime, when the 700+ varieties of rhododendrons,…read moreazaleas, and camillias are in full bloom. The history of this spectacular creation is also fascinating. At present it is only open a few days a year for tours -- and spring 2019 is past -- but is very visible from the highway and you can still park at the gate and take a walking tour. Since 1994 it has been owned by BLM, but is in the process of being restored and maintained in partnership with the "Friends of Hinsdale Garden."
