This is a great place to rent to have your own gathering. We often gather here with kids and it is a fun filled relaxed atmosphere.

Nice enough campsite adequate firewood but very eroded trails and not very secluded. Would come back but not rave about it.

We recently attended our neighbor's Quiceñera. This was their youngest daughter's celebration of her 15th birthday. This is the 3rd Quinceñera they've celebrated over the years. The Memorial Bldg was transformed into a gala party atmosphere. All of the guests were seated at several round tables. There was a large floor area in the middle for the ceremony and dancing. The chairs were draped in this satiny silver material. It looked so fancy but klutzy me kept sliding on it. The festivities started with a buffet spread of salad, chicken stew, beef with veggies, two kinds of rice and fresh corn tortillas. There were several types of non-alchy drinks. After dinner there was a candy shrine with gummy worms, caramel popcorn, lots of sticky candy and lots of stuff that looked too sweet. All of it was very colorful. There was a table with fruit salad. The ceremony followed with our neighbor, "D", dressed in a beautiful bright pink gown which looked like magical. Her attendants wore orange poofy dresses that were so cute. The guys in the ceremony looked so handsome in their suits. The dancing came next--live DJ and loud and very spirited Cumbia and Salsa music. At least half of the party goers got up to dance. Shy and klutzy Ms Rinky and her esposo watched. Although we didn't stay for the cake I did take a picture of it. Nothing fancy about this place but more than perfect for a Quinceñera or other large party.

The exterior is attractive, with an expansive yard out front and a nice stone courtyard. Inside is a fairly simple layout with numerous historical displays related to veterans' affairs, Albany veteran's themselves, and the Boy Scout troop sponsored here. The main hall is sizable (see picture) and has an attached full kitchen, appropriate for catering. When I visited, they were setting up for a quincenera, and I could see this building being a nice choice for a wedding or other large party.

Thanks to the NPS app! Finally had a chance to come by recently. So glad we did. There's a lot of information I didn't know about. I've known its location for quite some time, but rarely make it out that way. We had the perfect opportunity for exploration and we chose to accept adventure in Richmond. The staff and docents are incredibly kind and knowledgeable. We watched a special film called Hometown Heroes (15 minutes) and were able to have a bit of Q&A with the docent on duty. There are two floors to view (and an elevator) with the bottom level hosting the theater. There was actually a pretty decent crowd for a Saturday afternoon which was nice to see. There is an area for really fun merch upon arrival, and we purchased a Rosie bath time duck that is just the cutest. I noticed for kiddos they have a scavenger hunt/activity book, but we went with just our own journey through. There's interactive areas where you can press buttons to hear different voices depicted from women, men, and children during this era. I noticed a spot where you could write a note for unity and pay/give respect or critique for the park. Many notes gave support and admiration to their own Rosies ~ one read "This park means so much to me because my Grandmother was a Rosie in NY. We can do it!" The park has free entrance also, and there is a ton of free parking as well. Richmond is full of incredible history and actually has more intact WWII Home Front sites than any other place in the USA. Worthy of a visit, no doubt. (and there's really amazing food/bev spots in Richmond to round out your trip). Need a rec? Just ask! Beautiful park, beautiful trip. Thank you for sharing such an integral part of history with the community!

Art, history and the outdoors all come together at this little known attraction in Richmond CA…read more I'd say the Rosi memorial was a shining moment in the history of our country. I take every opportunity to talk to older generations of women that were a part of woman's equality. No, no, not this third wave feminism that is going around lately but about treating people the same regardless of the bits and pieces they happened to be born with. Things these days got way off track. Its madness. I wanted my Rinks to see the true and pure form of feminism - and I assigned Rosi the Riviter to be her hero the same way I made Sweets look up to Otto the bulldog. Yes thats what a helicopter parent does. An older lady next door - an attorney - told me she was bewildered and disappointed in the young generation of women. Entitled, easily offended and using men as body guards is the new norm. She told me 'our generation did all the work - they don't have to do much.' Both she and I felt that the women's movement was taking a step backwards the past 10 or 20 years. Take a look at Rosi and I think its easy to see the above being true. Talk to 70 or 80 or 90 year old women as much as you can and learn the history before its too late. I like history. Old stuff. Old cars.... old houses. Teach our youth the best you can and make sure they have somebody to look up to.

Excuse me while I listen to Benny Goodman's band play "The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B" and do the jitterbug with my gal one last time before I get shipped out. But don't cry for the girl I left behind, no-sir-ree, because she became Rosie the Riveter, one of the brave women who worked on the home front during World War II while I was dodging hand grenades overseas. Surprisingly, this is the first memorial fully dedicated to the dedicated contributions of these women, and the minimalist design by visual artist Susan Schwartzenberg and landscape architect/environmental sculptor Cheryl Barton is on the subtle side. At first, you think it's just a piece of a ship's hull you're looking at with photos, letters and memorabilia laminated on the enamel panels (photo: http://bit.ly/2xSG7QG). But then you realize the walkway marks the timeline about the home front activities at the time and includes quotes from Rosies chiseled into the white granite. There are also pieces of stainless steel that suggest unfinished sections of the warships they built. This gives you a realistic depiction of the challenges the Rosies faced back then with discrimination, hazardous working conditions, and child care. Two adjacent rose gardens complete the grounds. V for Victory, Rosie! Don't sit under the apple tree with anyone else but me Anyone else but me, anyone else but me No! No! No! Just remember that I've been true to nobody else but you So just be true to me...
