Do not worry if you do not know anybody because by the end of the meal you will all be best friends. The Galileo Club serves dinner family style. It starts out with a plate of anti-pasta, rolls, then salad, pasta, an entree and finally dessert with a shot of brandy. At the time of this writing the price was only 30 dollars. Wow!!! This was very nice; it was very spacious and offers outdoor patio with tiki vibes! Our group was able to snag the outdoor patio upstairs! Other people were free to also hang out in the patio too, but because we got there early and our group was big, we were able to put the tables together and it really just felt like we were the only ones there; very intimate. There is a pool table and a bar on the second floor, so you don't have to go back downstairs. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They provided great customer service and came by to our table to pick up empty glasses. There was an incident that happened where a man was taking pictures of people in the bar and he came outside to the patio and started taking photos of our group, which we felt very uncomfortable about. We alerted staff and they were able to handle the situation and came back to check on us. They don't serve food here, but they do allow you to bring food from other places! That was very convenient because we were already comfortable and didn't want to leave to go somewhere else. Tacos El Autlense is a 5 min walk away and it's one of my fave places to get tacos; that's where we got our food at! I literally had it the night before too hahaha, but I wasn't complaining! This place was so cute; the music, the ambiance, the service... a whole vibe!!! I would definitely come back.

It's about a street and the shops on the street, but it's also a state of mind. Lots of people are members of the group even if they are somewhat far afield from the street itself. Alan Cain, the current Executive Director of the Association, is a ball of fire when it comes to keeping things moving and keeping people involved. The Solano Stroll - the September mile-long street faire - is a great coming-together of food and fun and people watching. SAA is ultimately responsible for all that.

I have been part of many service and leadership organizations and DeMolay has been by far the most impressive. In particular, their jurisdictional special events, philanthropic projects, sporting activities, leadership camps, and annual conventions are among the most profound. Out of all my closest friends in life, more have come from DeMolay than from Boy Scouts, school, my professional career, or any other organization of which I have been involved. The quality of honest and upstanding young men that have come out of DeMolay is baffling. It is very humbling to know that you are part of an organization that raised such leaders as Walt Disney, Neil Armstrong, Bill Clinton, Dan Rather, John Steinbeck, Mel Blanc, and John Wayne.

We have new neighbors who have just moved in. They're expecting a baby in August and will eventually be looking for a baby sitter. When Tam was 11 or 12 she took a baby sitting class her and was certified as a trained and trustworthy sitter. Not that she needed training or certification. Even then she was awesome and some parents were intimidated by her level of organization. It's not clear whether they still offer these classes. but they do offer an array of others. I've taken a few over the years. They host occasional art shows and the yearly heritage rose show. We happened on an art auction there a few years ago and bought a piece of Disney art for Tam and Kevin's anniversary. When Tam and Ilana still lived here in El Cerrito, Ilana took swimming lessons here and once I accompanied her to watch her class. It's a busy and useful center w/ activities for all ages. It's available for rental for private events, like weddings. The annual July 4th Fair is held here, w/ music and food and other booths. There's a Halloween party each year which draws the kids, who no longer come trick or treating in our neighborhood. It's a community resource.
