You're gonna need to sign a form that says rough play can lead to injury but in my opinion that is largely a cop-out for doing a poor job at keeping dogs safe. I have no idea why there are bad reviews of such an amazing place! I love Camp Bow Wow and I have nothing bad to say about it. I could actually go on and on about how great they are. I bring my husky here quite often! He loves it! He will run to the door, sit, and raise his paw when he is asked if he wants to go to daycare. It makes me happy that he's so excited. I love that the camp counselors communicate so well. My pup had some dried blood in his ear, and they called me to let me know everything they were doing to find the cause. It was very comforting! For background I am a Vet Tech and previous dog trainer. I have been in the animal care field for many years. I've seen so much abuse to animals it breaks my heart. I have a rescue dog who was physically abused and neglected prior to me adopting her. She loves dogs but is people hesitant. I trusted this place with my baby and was heartbroken to see they abuse dogs and then lie about "firing" abusive employees. My dog was physically pushed around and hit multiple times at this location in the same day while I watched and recorded on their camera. I also watched them physically abuse other dogs. I have video of them pinning dogs to the ground and smacking my dog across the face repeatedly. When confronted all they did was not charge me for daycare and then call the next day and say they fired the employee. I was understanding at the time and wasn't blaming management just the guy who abused my dog because in the past I had seen them handle my baby with care. Come to find out the day I decide to give them a second chance I pulled up the cameras and the same "fired" employee is back and instead of calling me they stick my dog alone in a play pin for hours. When I picked up my baby they continued the lies cause they didn't want the people in the lobby knowing they keep dog abusive employees. I'm sorry but I will never forget his face and you can't trick me into believing he happens to have a lookalike that you hired. While I wanted to run in there and smack around the guy who dared touch my baby I kept my cool and tried to be understanding of the situation. They told lie after lie and when I'd catch them in the lies they didn't have answers for me. (Example I asked if that's not the guy who abused my dog why is she alone? Their response was they're waiting to put her group out. Which is funny cause when I told them he's standing in the group of the same exact dogs my dog was with that morning her face went bright red and she had no response for me) I hope this location gets shut down. I am doing my best to make sure that happens. If I'm able to I will attach the video recording of their fine employee abusing mine and other dogs. At the very least I'll attach a screen grab of him pinning the dog to the ground then his "oh shit head scratcher"moment of eye contact with the camera where he stands up and walks away from the dogs he just abused after realizing people are probably watching. read more

Unfortunately we probably won't be taking our dogs back here. We took our beagle and pitbull puppy to this location for boarding. We were happy that they don't have breed restrictions and that our pitbull was able to enjoy playtime with the other dogs. However, they mixed up our two dogs. We requested for our beagle (Cooper) to have a nail trim and Milo not to. When we picked up we noticed one of the employees addressed Milo as Cooper... honestly no big deal until we got home and noticed that Milo got the nail trim and not Cooper, also not a huge deal just slightly frustrating. My concern here is that our puppy was supposed to eat twice daily as where the adult dog eats once a day. With the name mix up, our puppy didn't get his full daily portion. We addressed this with the employee on staff and she said they were fed correctly... our puppy came home 3 pounds lighter and our beagle a little more round than usual, so I'll let you do the math. Keep in mind they both had the correct name tag on their collar too. Disappointed that I can't trust them to correctly feed or even get the name of our dogs right because otherwise this would've been a five star review. UPDATE: I was contacted by the manager and given a complementary 2 night stay for both of my dogs along with a bath and nail trim for the correct dog. A few weeks ago, we had to board our 3 year old lab mix for 4 days. After calling around to a couple of places, I decided to try Camp Bow Wow. They were the closest to us, and seemed the easiest to work with. After that, everything from the one day interview to boarding to check out was awesome. Everyone was so nice and helpful, and we loved the puppy cams available to check up on our pup and watch her play! Horrible experience for my puppies. I will absolutely not be taking my dogs back. I dropped both of my dogs off for the day, for an "interview", and we received a call within an hour of their stay, informing me my bigger dog was not approachable. I gave specific instructions on how to approach my dog. The two things I told them not to do when approaching her, completely gnored ‍. When I picked them up they were shivering and crying, both of them. My German Shepherd has PTSD, I expected her to be a little stressed, given the call I received. My small dog is extremely easy and a kind soul, but he too was shivering and stressed. When I got them home, they both sat in front of their water bowels for what seemed like 10 minutes. It was apparent to me they had not been given water. Incidentally, my dogs have been boarded before, with no issues. Additionally, when I called to make their reservations, the employee who answered the phone, provided ALL the wrong information. When I dropped them off the employee at the desk could not find my info in the system and provided me the opposite information that was previously shared with me. As dog professionals you would think the employees we entrust our furry friends with, would have the savvy and know how to deal with all types of dogs and forms of behaviors. The price one pays at Camp Bow Wow is nowhere worth the way my puppies were left. Needless to say, it was a poor experience from beginning to end. read more

To start, yesterday I never got a phone call back so I called again this morning around 8am. Luckily, I was able to reach someone ( Jordan). Of course, I had already supplied this. After looking things up, she confirmed they had them. Finally, upon arriving with my two pets, Marley and Maggie, to drop them off for a week on stay, Jordon took the dogs by their leads and asked me to bring in their stuff? In the past few years I have never had to bring any dog food. It always been provided with the boarding. I was notified today that the $300 package I purchased in October 2019 was expired despite COVID and no communication at time of purchase that package would expire in 1 year. I learned that other Camp Bow Wow locations notified customers when expiration date was nearing but not this one! I recommend that you stay away. If only there were negative stars..... I was watching my boarded doberman on the day camp camera. It was close to the end of the day and he squated to do some business. To my disbelief I watch an employee run towards my boy to scare him and stop him from going. I guess she did not want to clean it up? Several minutes later the dogs were put away for the night. Who knows when he was finally allowed to go to the bathroom. When I picked my dogs up I complained to the employee. Not every employee can be perfect but this should be addressed. She stated that she would let the owner know and I would get a call. After No call I called and asked to speak to management. They were busy. We took our golden retriever there while on vacation for approximately two weeks. We brought his own bed for him to sleep on and enough individually packaged food for his stay. When we picked him up, one of the employees brought out a dirty bed which he had apparently been sleeping on (not the one we brought as it was about half the size of the one we left there) with our dog. We also received a note from the Camp Bow Wow staff stating he had a "slight rash" on his (R) shoulder. That night we noticed constant licking of the area and obvious discomfort. We called the vet early next morning and got him in right away. The vet ended up having to shave his chest and prescribe two medications and a two different kinds of topical spray. The vet's office visit and exam cost right at $250.00. I contacted the Camp Bow Wow staff and they had someone call and feign a caring attitude but they were unresponsive when it came to taking any financial responsibility for the problem which clearly resulted from his stay at their facility. My wife bathes Taco at least once per week, blow dries him with a professional groomer's blow drier, brushes him daily and basically treats him as if he were a show dog. He has never had any problems like this before and there is just no way the rash was the result of anything he had prior to his stay at Camp Bow Wow. I would not bring any dog there ever again or recommend their facility. read more

The guy who I first talked to was really nice about it and then i got a call two hours later that was less satisfying. My dog most likely jumped the fence because they were probably not watching him. Picked up my dog from a full day at Camp Bow Wow. He was full of energy like he had been locked up all day. I went home and was curious so I called up and I asked what his play schedule was because of all of his energy. They don't record that information. They did say he got into some scuffles so they gave him more "breaks" today. It is totally fine that if he's not acting properly to keep him separated from the group, however I'm paying for him to exercise and play with dogs, and for them not to tell me he was locked up all day is absurd. They need to be honest, and should have said, he didn't play well so we kept him crated. Instead I had to call up and figure it out. Were they just going to let me keep bringing him back and locking him up all day?? Who knows. Was told the manager was going to call. Never heard from her. Camp Bow Wow was a life saver this weekend!!! They were absolutely amazing and I am so thankful they were able to get Remy in on such short notice. All dogs participate in doggie day care so they go through a 3 hr behavior test. They're amazing and gave report cards with Remy's pictures and a Mother's Day Card for me! They were so sweet and each member we interacted with were very professional and a way with the pets! They also have a cool set up, I was able to take a tour right before they took Remy back for his behavior screening! I will definitely be bringing Remy back the next time we come back - They do require quick release collars and name tags for all dogs but if you don't have them you can purchase both from them! read more

Due to a family emergency out of town, we had to board our 2 dogs at the last minute a week before the holidays. As usual, we chose Camp Bow Wow, well, because they are awesome. Through circumstances out of our control, our emergency turned into an extended stay that was now overlapping the holiday. Camp bow wow was booked solid & we were concerned about our options. After calling and speaking with Christy (the manager at the Rocky Point location), she did not hesitate to alleviate our concerns and told us she would make the situation work and would take care of our dogs as long as we needed. One of our dogs had some stress issues from separation anxiety & developed a small amount of blood in his stool, once again, Christy rose to the challenge and went and got canned pumpkin to help soothe his stomach. We picked them up 8 days later happy & healthy. I cannot thank the folks over there enough, they truly saved the day for us & we highly recommend them for all your boarding needs. read more

We have boarded our dog Gracie at Camp Bow Wow twice now and I've loved each experience! First they request that all pups have an interview day, which i love, and Gracie got to get comfortable with the facility and other dogs for a couple of hours before staying for an extended time. Everytime I check the cameras to see how she's doing she's always playing and enjoying herself. When I come to pick her up she's in great shape and I love seeing the report card of how she did. We pcsed to Hawaii but had to make a pit stop in San Antonio on the way to visit my sister and brother in law. They've taken their dogs to Camp Bow Wow for years and always have great things to say about it. So, we knew that taking our dog Bambam there was a must! She loved it. We were able to watch her on the Web cam and they even gave us a cute printout with pictures of her on it to post up in a frame! My SIL took her there a few more times after we left and always heard good news when we called about her play days. About a year and half ago my oldest peeper had a trial session at the camp when he was about 7months old and he loves the place . He is now 2 years old .. Today I called our local Camp Bow Wow here in San Antonio to arrange boarding for our dogs Moose and Mila. While I was asked to be put on hold, I was curious as to why I was taking longer than normal. When the employee came back on the line she informed me the the account had been flagged due an incident Moose had during his last stay at their South Austin location therefore he would only be allowed to play by himself. In February,2019 we boarded both Moose and Mila at their south Austin location. Both dogs have loved going to camp bow wow and always come home so tired from all the play time. Unfortunately, this time we got a call stating that Moose was in a fight. We tried to pick him up immediately but we were told that they would be closed from 11-4 (it was just about to be 11am when we got the call) and that we would have to wait until 4 to get him. When we finally went to pick him and Mila up we noticed his collar was ripped, it wasn't like that when we dropped him off. We asked if there was any way we could watch the video to try and see what triggered Moose, as we know him pretty well we thought we could help figure it out. Unfortunately that was refused as they said it was against company policy but they have a continuous live feed for us dog moms and dads to watch. Later this day I received a phone call from this locations owner saying that they had watched the video multiple time and never saw that Moose was bit and kind of made it seem as if Moose had just attacked another dog for no apparent reason. After hearing that I got rather upset because I had already seen the swelling on his neck and the puss coming out of multiple wounds and the damage done to his tags from what looks like teeth. I sent emails to this owner with the attached pictures in which she responded with "I'm sorry we didn't noticed the marks on his neck. Is he ok? Do you think he needs to see a vet?" With these questions being asked I wondered how they could even say that they checked to make sure he was ok, with the injuries he had on his neck I questioned if they really did watch the video of what happened since they stated that he was never bit by another dog. It makes me sad to say that because of his breed that they assumed Moose had started this and that he was fine. That no other dog could have hurt him. I tried to look past this incident since then but after being told that my dog would have to play all alone I've decided that Moose and Mila will no longer be campers at Camp Bow Wow. read more

Place is kind of suspicious. When watching cameras I would notice that dogs wouldn't go out to play until much later after opening and would stop playing early. Staff didn't seem that experienced compared to their location in San Clemente. Still nice though. After reading some of these reviews I'm a little sceptacle. read more

I've been taking my Leonberger, Fergus, to Camp Bow Wow Northwest twice a week for 2 years. As I'm getting ready to leave the house on the mornings I'm going to take him, he is right there, giving me "the look" that says he wants to go to daycare! I started bringing my husky to Camp Bow Wow when he was just a pup. It's been three years and I'm more and more amazed by how awesome this place is. My baby has idiopathic epilepsy, so I'm very careful about who I leave him with, but I am EXTREMELY comfortable leaving him at CBW. The staff is always so friendly and helpful, and I always get my baby back super tired. Another reason I totally love them is that they are awesome about communication. If my pup has different stool than usual- they call and let me know. Overall, I highly recommend them to anyone who has a dog needing to burn off some energy. read more

Although the idea of a dog boarding company, such as Camp Bow Wow, is an excellent enrichment for any dog, this location is neglectful and often times reckless in the course of its duty to protect mans best friend. Today marks the fifth time I've picked my dog up and found him not in the same condition that I left him. It was explained to me that my dog and another dog were "playing". However, the dime-sized puncture wound and apparent scratches to his back, suggest otherwise. I was also told that the two were separated, but upon the attendant walking him out to meet me, the receptionist asked whether the puncture wound was a prior injury. When I told her that none of the markings were there prior to me dropping him off, she apologized and stated that they were supposed to have been separated. Clearly, that was not the case. The fact that I left my dog there under their supervision means it had a duty to protect his well being. I noticed positive remarks from others. Maybe my dog is an outlier. He's one year old. He's a Viszla. He's actually a pretty chill dog. Not aggressive. Very playful. I would have given this place zero stars, but it seems like my dog enjoys himself. But, he's just a dog and doesn't understand responsibility or the duty of care. I will take him to a completely different establishment. read more

I specifically called the Rocky Point location and spoke with a representative about my disappointment with another doggie daycare in the San Antonio area that did not allow "all day play". I inquired about how much play time the dogs were allowed at Camp Bow Wow and was assured that they would be allowed to play in the morning until 11am then they take them in so that dogs who are being boarded could be fed and to allow for some rest. The dogs would go back out for play time around 1pm and play until 4pm. THAT DID NOT HAPPEN. I drop them off at 7am and they are not allowed to play until 9am. They kennel them until 9am and then again at 11am until 130pm and back to the kennel at sometimes 3pm sometimes 330pm. They spend the majority of the day kenneled. The staff will tell you it is because "little dogs bodies can't handle all day play" which is a load a crap. I have two Boston Terriers and they handle all day play just fine in every other city I've lived in until I arrived in San Antonio then it became a problem. I monitored the webcams constantly and it is ridiculous how much they DON'T PLAY. When I complained they make excuses when I exploded THEN they show me the "set hours of play" which was NEVER shown to me before my signing up for a package and of course they REFUSE to refund me the remaining days of my package which is probably well over $300. They lie, they are lazy and don't want to watch you dog so they lock them in a kennel and call it "corporate policy". Biggest scam I've ever been subjected to! Don't waste you time or money and lest I forget...charged me $30 for two toenail clippings that was NEVER done! I love Camp Bow Wow and my pup does too! The staff is always so friendly and everyone seems so happy to have him when we bring him in. They make us feel extra special because they know our pup well and immediately greet him with an enthusiastic "Hi Bentley!" I love being able to check in on him with the camper cams and I really appreciate how quickly I am able to get in and out when I am dropping off or picking up. I know my pup loves coming here too because he starts to wag his tail and whine excitedly when we pull into the parking lot. He even barks impatiently if he feels like it is taking too long to check him in! I think one of my favorite things about this place is that you don't need a reservation for the day camp! My pup had been attending camp bow wow since she was 3 months old! She enjoys playing with her furry friends and comes home absolutely zonked and sleeps for hours!! The staff seems carrying and knowledgeable. Major problem is that Camp Bow Wow expects you to vaccinate your dog on their terms. My pup's bordatella vaccination lasts for 1 year. They wanted me to re-vaccinate my pup again at 6 months when it's clinically proven and suggested for the vaccination to be effective for 1 year. Sorry Camp Bow Wow but you are not the only pet resort in the area, and no I will not inject my dog with unnecessary chemicals bc you say I should! read more

Camp Bow Wow is extremely unorganized and it seems like no one there knows what is going on. They advertise puppy training classes on their website. I called in December for the schedule and no one seemed to know (one person told me they weren't even having classes and then the next told me they start sometime in January). I had to call back multiple times to get an answer for their schedule. They always told me a trainer would get back to me and no one would ever call me back. Finally, they told me it started Jan. 10th. I signed my puppy up. I called on Jan. 10th to make sure I had all the details correct and they told me they had to post pone the class until Jan. 17th. If I hadn't called, I would have just showed up and there would not had been a class that day. I called to confirm the next Tuesday to make sure the class was still on and they told me yes around 10am and then I got a call about 5:30 PM that they had to cancel, when the class was suppose to start at 7:30. They also have breed restrictions. They will not let pitbulls attend day camp or over night boarding, but they will definitely try to take your money for training classes. read more

5 stars for outstanding customer service! I'm a regular but sorta-new customer, and I take my little schnauzer mutt to Camp Bow Wow when I know I'm having a long day. He LOVES to play with the other dogs (sometimes too much, I've watched him get squirted with the water bottle on the Camper Cam), and one rainy Sunday I dropped him off at Camp, presuming that he would get playtime that day. The counselor assumed I knew this, and didn't tell me that Sundays are intake only for boarding. My fiance and I were a little upset that we paid for a day of daycare and Benji was boarded in a kennel all day. Not 24 hours later, the manager calls me up out of the blue, apologized for the mix-up, and gave us a credit on our account. I was going to shoot her an email but she beat me to the punch and did exactly what every business should do: provide outstanding customer service to keep loyal clients. So now we're clients ~4lyf~. The staff closely supervises the dogs during playtime and keeps the place spotless, and they separate the dogs by size so that a little 9 pounder doesn't get trampled by a full-grown lab. Every dog is screened for temperament so there is no worries about dog-aggressive dogs (which alas, my other dog is). The staff is great, the customer service is great, and the bully sticks are the cheapest in town (75 cents each...go for this if nothing else!) And Benji falls asleep in the car on the way home, and I don't feel guilty for working and not being able to play with him 24-7, which is what he would prefer. Warning: the Camper Cams, where you can watch your dog play, completely destroy any work productivity for the entire day. read more
