Well it's hard to pass up a freebie but we took advantage and took Cleopatra to Camp Bow Wow. The first time your dog is viewed in the camp with other dogs. Happy to say Cleo passed with flying colors. You can see your dog on the live Web cams from your phone, tablet or computer. They do dog boarding, day care, training and grooming. All you have to do is call and schedule an interview. The staff were human and dog friendly. There are Camp Bow Wows across the U.S. so once your dog passes you can go to other locations while you are traveling. Pretty cool

The past two times that I have boarded my dog with Camp Bow Wow she has returned home sick and seems to have been neglected of basic medication administration and care. Working in the veterinary field, I completely understand that kennel cough is a viral and airborne infection which is hard to contain once an outbreak has occurred, so when she came home and a week later was diagnosed with kennel cough the first time (about a year ago) I let it go. However, the most recent time my dog came home from boarding (today), she smelled like urine and visibly had urine stained paws and vaginal area. She suffers from urinary incontinence and is on a medication to help, so when she begins to "leak" uncontrollably, it is an immediate sign that she has missed doses of medication. In addition to this, she came home sneezing, coughing and gagging- and even has visible mucous discharge coming from her nose. Assuming it was kennel cough again, I was prepared to handle it like last time. Again I'm faced with the issue of treating her for an URI/Kennel Cough. My biggest issue is that her symptoms did not begin or appear the day I picked her up, and staff never once mentioned the severity her symptoms, or that she had any at all in the first place, after being there for five days. Also when I picked her up from boarding, she had a white crusted scab over her eye and staff never brought that to my attention either - I still have no idea what it could have been and staff couldn't give me an answer when I called and asked about it when I got home. I'm extremely disappointed in the lack of care she is receiving when boarding here, especially because she is a senior dog (~12yr). I will not be returning in the future and I strongly suggest that others reading these reviews find a different boarding facility as well.

Many years ago I worked at a doggie daycare, and I know how much hard work it can be to keep a doggie daycare clean, organized, and incident free. Camp bow wow does a stellar job at all the above! Somehow it actually smells good in there. The staff is incredibly organized and informed. My current foster dog Shilo drags me into the building and I love watching him play on the live webcams! I feel very comfortable that he is safe and enjoying himself (plus bonus he's exhausted at the end of the day!) Open 7a to 7p is very convenient as well. (I also have a friend Amy that used to live in Jax and worked here and she said she really misses working there! It's always great to hear that staff love theor job and that it's a good work environment behind the scenes.) If you have an energetic or social pup I highly recommend Camp Bow Wow!

I posted a review on Google 3 months ago and was surprised I didn't find it today. I was shocked to learn that there are companies that offer bad review removal services. I was a Bow Wow customer and left my dog there. They injured her paw while trying to clip her nails, although I did not ask for this procedure and I have shared this information here. Unfortunately, they decided that I was lying, although I have no reason to lie, I did not even demand any compensation. They may have confused my dog with another, but they didn't admit it. They just lied that the dog hurt its own paw by cutting it, how? Then it turns out that it is not safe to leave the dog there if it can hurt itself. But I'm convinced they just hurt her paw with a dog grinder. It was extremely frustrating.

Since my dog can't write a review, you'll have to take my word on this place based on my in-person experience and online webcam access. Camp Bow Wow is thorough in making sure your pet is a good fit from checking vet records to testing personality and behaviors. That latter testing kicks off your first (free) visit, and if all goes well, your dog gets to spend the whole day if you want. For me, the biggest perk is the online cameras that staff is proactive in encouraging you to check; they are free and work well. They also showed how interactive and hands-on the staff is with the dog groups, which is reassuring to any pet owner. If my dog understood how time worked, I'm sure she'd be excited about her next visit.

I'm THAT mom..I went to Camp Bow Wow all kinds of nervous and with a long list of questions. .well my boy Waylon just kind of trotted in there like he knew exactly what to do..it made me happy but also a little sad..I stayed and watched him on the play cam in the lobby for a little while and was assured by the wonderful staff that he was doing just fine..then I got in my car and cried the whole drive home.. I made it a whole 90 minutes before calling to ask if he was ok..even referring to myself as Susan, Waylons mommy..lol..again I was comforted and told that he was doing great and having fun.. Fast forward to..my little side kick has been gone for almost 8 hours..I don't know that I could wait any longer to pick him up..When I pulled up I could hear some doggies playing..I was given a d-tails report card and a certificate that he completed his first day..very nice touch..then my baby was brought out to me..All smiles and tail wagging..17 pounds of excitement! ! I was able to see the area where the dogs play and sleep and then one of the staff members took a picture for us..This will TOTALLY be in my scrapbook lol We got home and my little camper ate a little food and snuggled up for a long nap! Now that I've gotten thru the first time dropping him off and I know he'll be ok there, I know where he'll be while I'm away on a trip later this year!

I waited a long time to make up my mind about dog boarding and daycare here in Jacksonville. I was SO spoiled with the place I used in St Louis, I knew it was going to be tough to find a place so I have tried quite a few. Let's just get the negatives out of the way: the play yards are small and the outdoor area is even smaller. There can occasionally be an overwhelming smell of pee near the front door. Sometimes the front desk staff can be abrupt (but once you get to know them you realize they truly do have your dog's best interests in mind) The good: Webcams so you can watch your dog play, either from your computer or (for a small fee) your phone. The hours are good, daycare is open from 7-7 Monday through Friday and they are right off the highway for convenient in and out. They have both boarding and daycare packages to help make it a little cheaper if you pay in advance. The excellent: To put it mildly, my dog is a BRAT. He jumps fences, breaks out of cages and is just a general nuisance sometimes.. and they put up with all of that. They literally have a cage they save just for him when I board him, one they have reinforced to help prevent escapes. They are also excellent about responding to online reservations and emailed questions. Ultimately what really won me over and kept me going back was my dog's reaction. I took him to Barktoberfest last year and the event overwhelmed him. I was getting ready to leave after a few minutes there when he suddenly got super excited and started pulling me to a side table. When we got there I realized he had spotted one of the workers from Camp Bow Wow.. from across the field.. and wanted to go see her. She recognized him and just her attention for a few minutes settled him down long enough for him to walk around the rest of the event. Then when we got to the Camp Bow Wow exhibit he immediately recognized it and plopped himself down in the grass next to the table. He has claimed them as his own and that's what matters the most to me. ETA: I just wanted to also note that they support local rescue groups here too. HUUUUGE points in my book, Not only do they as a team support Lab Rescue of Florida but they support me by helping me out when I have to board my foster dog.. and she's kinda bratty too (My dog may have influenced her but I plead the fifth) She loves camp just as much as my dog does. Two very enthusiastic dog high fives from them!

They give me a general recap of how my dog was or if anything happened during his visit. It seems to be organized because of the way they communicate over the walkie. The dogs take turns in different rooms depending on the size of the breed. My dog is 20 lbs so he stays with the smaller dogs. They rotate between 2 or 3 different areas so that they're not stuck in one room for the whole day. I don't know much of their procedures, honestly. But I do know that they give the dogs nap time. I have seen reviews where some owners' dogs receive some type of injury or they found their dog to be in the crate because of an "argument". However, I haven't had much of a problem with that yet. I enjoy bringing my dog here. I do wish they had multiple locations.

I found Just Like Home on a google search and called the owners. They were very accommodating and let me come by immediately for a meet and greet. Paul and Katie were very friendly and reassuring. My dogs took to them and had a blast during the short encounter. So, I boarded my dogs with them for a night the next day. Some things I'd like to highlight is that they have a spacious fenced in yard and a doggie door so the dogs can come and go as they please. My little brats could learn how to be dogs in a pack. Food is included and provided. They provide high quality grain free food that my dogs love and they leave it out so the dogs can graze. This is good if your dog eats when it's hungry. However, my dogs, being puggles, ate non-stop and Paul and Katie had to put the food up. They just fed my dogs like pigeons throughout the day instead. This is something you might want to consider if your dog has special dietary needs and will eat everything in sight. But apart from one of my dogs overeating till his all you can eat buffet was thwarted, all is good. Oh Katie is a nurse and she's able to put eye drops or whatever your dog needs. My dogs are fine, but it's something you might want to consider when picking a boarding place for your dogs. Best part about Just Like Home is that the dogs can go on the furniture and sleep with humans. My dogs lay on Paul and Katie and watched tv and slept with Paul at night. (Sorry, Paul, I know my dogs are walking heat packs.) I'm relieved that my dogs can get the human contact and attention that they crave. I don't have to feel bad that they are crying in a suite at some other boarding place. When I went to pick the dogs up, one of them came up to greet me, then ran back off to play with his friends. He didn't want to leave. The other one is a total momma's boy, so he stayed by me while we tried let the first one know that it was time to go home. Also, the rates here are very reasonable. I'll definitely take my dogs there again if I need to board them while I'm in Jacksonville.
