When I pick her up and bring her home she's exhausted, she gets on the couch and doesn't move for the rest of the night. Even the next morning it's hard getting her out of bed. The ladies that work here are great too. They're accommodating and very friendly. My dog doesn't need grooming but if she did I'd totally trust these guys! Niki (the owner) does a great job grooming from what I've seen. We live in…read moreBrooklyn, but my in-laws live in Albany, and we generally wait to schedule haircuts for our pup until we're in Albany just because we like Sundance so much. The first time I dropped my pup off there, I was naturally a bit nervous, but when I came to pick him up (and I was about 30 minutes late), he was hanging out in a play area waiting for me, and looked totally relaxed. I felt so much better about this than I did when he was sitting in a cage waiting for me to pick him up from his last groomers. Sundance had also taken a little video with my pup which she posted to fb where he was totally at ease. The most recent haircut took a lot longer as it was right after Christmas, and Sundance was super busy, but we understood and also our pup was perfectly relaxed when he came home. His haircut was a little longer than before, but that's because it's winter in NY. Honestly, the peace of mind knowing that my pup is being taken care of by someone generally interested in his well-being means I'm happy with whatever haircut he comes out with. their humane business practices are also amazing. If I could make any suggestion, it would be - get blueberry shampoo!

I took my maltese here for boarding and grooming for almost 16 years (my dog just passed). In this time the cost for a grooming only went up three dollars and some change! I was always happy with his cut and reasonable time it took for him to be groomed. Amy used to groom him, she was the best. My dog always came out with a big smile on his face. The staff are ALL beyond kind and considerate towards my dog and I. I boarded him at least once or twice a year (for 10 days) in the suites with the webcams. You must book early for these on holidays. I loved checking in on him and watching him play in the doggie day care (while I missed him on vacation). The staff are attentive to any medications and/or dietary needs, and will call you if there are any major problems while boarded. This business is so great that there is a strong following of people who keep it really busy, so plan ahead for a grooming and boarding. It will be worth it. I totally recommend Pet Spas and Suites. They are so personable and caring. This isn't run like a corporate pet store where you never see the same people again the next time you come in, the crates are half the size at the corporate chain pet store. I went once and they were rude. I had a friend whom the corp. chain didn't take notes on her dog who had a hip problem (nor did they listen to the owners) and the dog ended up getting hurt- requiring surgery- costing thousands of dollars and pain and suffering to her dog. That would never happen at Pet Spa. It will be sometime before I get another pup but I know where I'll be taking him/her when I do. I will miss the Pet Spa & Suites family until then. I have a really small but sharp pair of scissors and weekly I found myself cutting off golf ball sized mattes from her fur; around her neck, on her belly. Luckily she's a really agreeable girl and never really minded this procedure. It wasn't until she had three bad bouts of diarrhea in a row that I reached my last straw. With the long hair around her butt, liquid poop was a nightmare. When I called, Greg's voicemail politely stated that they were not currently accepting new clients; but I left a message anyway. I asked them to please please please shave my cat. They responded the next day with amazing news! They wanted to make room in their schedule for her. For the first time in 10 years, I was able to truly behold the shape of my kitty. She's tremendously flabby and soft...and so adorable I burst into tears when I saw her new doo. Thank you, Greg.

Not only does Doggie Style charge a few bucks less than where we were previously bringing our pup, but they also did a better job! Plus you can't beat the convenience of having your groomer come to you. Brittany got to our house right at 2, the van was parked on our street with our dog in it for about an hour, and he came out so clean and fluffy. She took the time to brush him out and clip him rather than shave him down. We will absolutely continue to use their services. The only thing that would improve things would be Saturday appointments (the hours are Monday-Friday), or late evening appointments during the week. It's not a huge inconvenience to take an afternoon off or to work from home every 9 weeks for us, but I can see how it would make it easier for a lot of people.

It ended up being almost $500 and I got the same treatment with the manager. I explained beforehand that they had several mats due to my Won dog being disabled, and it is extremely hard to move him around and he needs to rest a lot. My other Newfoundland again was groomed beautifully. She did not need as much attention, but I was charged the same amount 250 for each dog. Yeah, that's outrageous. Finally, they have so many dogs that they're grooming. It takes them longer because they do not have enough staff. I was disappointed with the outrageous charge of the cost.

She was so nice on the phone and was very informative from the haircut itself to the cost and the directions to the business. Her assistant Christina is very knowledgeable and super friendly. She does have cats but it didn't seem to bother any of my dogs or bother her while she was working. She took her time and you can really tell that she enjoys working with animals. The location is ideal for Niskayuna, Schenectady, Rotterdam, Altamont and Scotia residents as it is on Dodge Street for all grooming needs including cats and dogs.
