Also known as Circle X Ranch at the Forest Lawn Scout Reservation, this pristine campground for the Boy Scouts of America of the Greater Los Angeles Area Council is undergoing a massive renovation of its facilities and re-branding, all in the positive direction. With new bathroom- kybos that have toilet bowls and running water near each camp site, is a welcome sight. Each site is spaced out far enough for each camp to have its own privacy. Also, all tent platforms have been upgraded with fiberglass wood that look clean and not prone to break with each step of the heaviest of scouts. And more importantly, the main mess hall is well-ventilated and cooled down by fans that make the hottest of days bearable for all. However, what makes this camp distinctive is that they converted an "old trading post" as an Adult Leader Lounge that serves brewed coffee and free wifi for the hard-working Scoutmasters to relax while their scouts do their merit badges.
Our troop just recently concluded a week-long summer camp that we all wish did not end so soon. The staff of this campground, a majority of them are Eagle Scouts, are very accommodating, knowledgeable, energetic and professional in their demeanor. It is now a camp that is worth being visited time and again,
In closing, this is the only campground that I have noticed to have several red wood trees that evokes the feeling of being in a National Park. Although they are not as big as the ones in Sequoia NP, for the discerning eye, these trees make the camp even more special. read more
