I love it because the instructors are very professional and calm and make the kids feel secure in the ocean. They teach the kids water safety and how to respect the ocean. The difference between this and other beach camps is the kids really learn to surf, as opposed to playing other games on the sand. Another benefit we see comes when summer is over. Because of the conditioning throughout the summer surfing and climbing the hill at the end of the day our kids are ready to hit the soccer field. While a lot of kids get fatigued half way through a game our kids are in great shape. I highly recommend this camp as a fun and healthy way for kids to spend their summer.

Made it up the smaller wall and we signed up for Flips & Tricks classes. The staff is THE BEST. My son has difficulty making/keeping friends and "doesn't like to talk to grownups", but he loves the staff here. As a middle-aged mom, I would call the coaches themselves "kods" because they are at least half my age, but they are AMAZING with my son. He "got hurt" his first class and yelled/cried, but the coaches let him have his feelings, got him ice, and taught him how to avoid that situation in the future. After only 2 official classes and 2 longer events, my son has more confidence and says that he "loves the coaches". Hopefully he will make some friends his own age soon too because they have the same love of literally jumping off walls. All I need to do is send my kids with a water bottle; I don't have to pack snacks, lunch, or even sunscreen since it's provided. I appreciate that I can sign them up the day of camp and I don't need to plan ahead. I also appreciate the long hours of the full-day camp, but I can pick up my kids whenever it's convenient to me. I've always experienced prompt staff interaction with pick-up and drop-off. Lastly, the staff at the Manhattan Beach location were friendly and professional. Rachel, the camp director, runs an organized camp, responds to email quickly, and is very welcoming. Grand View is an ideal location to have Steve and Kate's Camp due to its ample space. They allow more kids than they can manage to attend. My daughter didn't even get a second snack because the line for snack was too long. When I complained to the director, I was basically told that it was my kids fault that they didn't get to do any of the activities, as kids choose what they want to do. I will not be sending my kids to this camp ever again and I am telling my nieces and nephews, who were scheduled to go next week, to cancel.

All the classics - big sticks, ice cream sandwiches, bomb pops, jaw breakers, snowcones, pickles, banana on a stick, cotton candy buckets, paletas, and more. It's also one of the few camps where you purchase by the day vs the week, so the flexibility is great. It's California. Going to beach camp is a rite of passage. Kelsie and her crew (Sophia, Rebecca & Mattie) did a phenomenal job for my granddaughter's 1st birthday party. Kelsie herself was a complete blessing!!! She is an amazing & very thorough party planner. From the first phone call inquiry, answering all my questions and kept me in the loop for anything else via email or phone call until the party date. When you read, with the VIP package all you need to do is show up with your child, that's literally all you have to do! The food and beverages were excellent choices.
