I cannot BELIEVE I didn't leave a review for this gem of a place! So my husband actually found this…read moreplace and suggested it for our daughter's 6th birthday. I contacted the owners, Terri and Sarah, and they were so incredibly gracious! They invited me over to check out the space. I really like the layout of this art studio because it's divided into different sections/rooms. One room would be where the kids do their sketching, and then another room is where the kids would take their sketching to go paint. The third room is where you can put all the food for your party and they have an awesome patio area that's right next to the food room where parents can also hang out while the kids can sketch and paint for the instructor in the other rooms. There were 19 kids total and it was so nice not to have the parents stand behind their kiddos the entire time to watch them paint because there's no where to go!! All of the parents told me they had NO IDEA this place existed. Because it's on Artesia , which is quite a busy street that people take to get from one place to the next it's really not the kind of place that people stroll around on. Sarah and Terri will work with you on what kind of theme/ sketch to guide the kids. It was an amazing party! Everyone loved it! And my daughter said it was the best birthday ever! Yay! Success! If you're planning a birthday for your little one! BOOK THIS PLACE!!! Cheers!!

My son, aged 5 (who I was worried wouldn't be able to sit still), learnt so much about different artistic methods. SBAD focus on a different topic/theme each day so the children have plenty of time to be creative and really think about what they would like to make. My daughter, aged 7 loved going each day and came home with some stunning pieces of art. She also LOVED the teachers who are not only skilled artistically, but are genuinely kind people who make all the children feel welcome and at home. This is the only camp (ever!) that my son and daughter have attended and been very grumpy that I only booked one week! Needless to say, we will be returning for the Thanksgiving camp!

I cannot say enough of this amazing school! I have a unique perspective as I am a parent here as…read morewell as a teacher of 18 years (at a public school). When I was given a tour four years ago, I knew what questions to ask regarding the curriculum and was impressed by the rigor, the class sizes, and the feel of community. So I decided to make the investment and move my son from a nearby public school to Rolling Hills Country Day School. One of the reasons was my son was diagnosed with moderate ADD and I knew he needed more personal attention and would thrive in a smaller school setting. It was the best decision! I do admit it took him a few months to get acclimated due to the academic rigor because the standards were different at his previous school. However, I loved it so much that a year later, I transferred my daughter there and now my third child attends RHCDS! I wish my kids could personally write a review. They absolutely love their school. They are eager to get to school early to play on the field before class! This school offers them a place where they feel safe and genuinly cared for. They not only have the academic rigor that in today's society is imperative, but they also prioritize in teaching values. Be a kind human is their motto and they definitely instill this on a daily basis. Learning and living by these values is what a child needs to thrive and be happy so they can focus in school. My son is now in middle school (upper school) and I know he will no doubt be prepared for any top rated high school. They focus on giving back to the community, character/values, teach independence, all the while really preparing these kids for high school. This school truly offers a fine balance. They have specialized teachers for various subjects, including technology. They also focus on presentation skills and even my little 7 year old has presented in front of the lower school! This is such an important communication skill that is disregarded in many elementary schools. I have also made amazing friends at RHCDS and I truly feel I am part of a family, or small community, even though I am a working mom and am not able to be there as much as I would like. I know my kids are cared for, safe, happy, challenged academically, and taught the same values that I teach at home. RHCDS is truly one of a kind and am so grateful to be a part of it.

We have been treated like family over the years - our children feel safe and known by their teachers and any questions or requests to the administration or teachers have been promptly and thoughtfully addressed. Our oldest child and middle school graduate, who now attends public high school, feels like she was well prepared academically and personally by teachers who challenged her to think critically and by expectations to be kind and respectful. There is obviously no perfect school and we are grateful to have found a school that aligns with our values!

As a mom, I look forward to it week after week! Coach Kaitlin, Coach Miguel and Coach Eric are awesome!! I am so competitive, emotional and a sore loser, and unfortunately (or fortunately), my son inherited this traits from me. All of these coaches are helping him with that. They teach fundamentals, how to win and lose, a work ethic and discipline! My son has been going since he was 4, and in two years, he's improved so much and has so much fun playing on a team. And...it's nice that they end every class with a team chant, "My dream, His Glory!" We love the faith based messages built in.

My kid loves basketball so I sent my kid here due to the high ratings. I wish it were better. Here…read moreare the flaws that I think everyone should be aware of prior to signing up: 1. They don't speak to your children with respect. There is constant berating and talking down to children. A child in the class asked a reasonable question and the instructor responded sarcastically. The instructors clearly expect the children to misbehave and believe punishment and threats is the way to get what they want. It reminded me of a boot camp with drill sergeants, which is not something I want for any young child. 2. It's chaotic. They split the class into 3 stations with different instructors. They don't clearly explain the drills and then punish children for doing it wrong. Going pack to the previous point, they intentionally don't or are incapable of answering the children's questions properly, which further confuses the children. Also, one of the instructors brings her two young children, the younger of which cries and demands her attention during the session. She eventually picks her child up and tries rocking the child to sleep while attempting to do basketball drills with the students. I thought this was a one-off but its happened week after week. 3. They end the class with a silly chant. Needless to say, we cut our losses and stopped going. I didn't want my kid to hate basketball.
