Great fry bread-the real deal. Generous portions. The fry bread is fluffy on the inside but because it is deep fried then loaded with toppings it is heavy by nature so you may leave feeling heavier! But it is good and there are other entrees. Real pinto beans, not refried. Pleasant dining experience and will be back. Nice big windows facing the bridges. Had lunch here after a visit to the Grand Canyon National Park. The dining room is spacious, clean and staffed with friendly and attentive waitpersons. My wife had the Navaho Taco and I had the Beef and Gravy plate. Both items use Indian Fry Bread as the base starch, and the serving of each was more than ample. We both love Fry Bread and it is the best we've had for a long time. The addition of grilled onions and a whole grilled hatch pepper on my order made for an excellent meal. Price is reasonable as well. This will be a must return if we vacation in the area in the future. read more

This is a review of the restaurant, which has no need of repeat business. We were with a tour group. We had to sit with all of them, lame. The service was spotty at best. One person in our party didn't get her food until the rest of us were nearly finished. The food was OK, the vegetables in Arizona are nice. I had a fish sandwich and fries which I guess was a stupid choice because everything was from the freezer and kind of old tasting. My wife's taco salad was better. You pay at the counter. Because we were seated with the tour group they added and 18% gratuity to my check. When I got to the counter they solicited me for another tip. When I pointed out that they had already charged me a gratuity she was "so surprised". Go over your bill before you pay. The property had some interesting elements. Stone walkways and tables and fountains. There were some cute dogs playing in the grass out front. I would never go back here, but it doesn't matter. The dining room will be full of tourists until the Grand Canyon is privatized and turned into a landfill. read more

Even though my breakfast dining in another location was amazing, I was quite disappointed that I'd eaten so close to visiting the trading post. The Navajo Tacos have major word of mouth power, but we were so stuffed that we couldn't eat one. The other point of this review is for the post portion. It's divided into two parts. One part features your typical touristy stuff, but the other (larger) part features some amazing art. Especially enjoyed the jewelry selection. Real sterling silver and stones that were quality rather than crap selling for as much at other places. Definitely would visit again...if not for art then to finally indulge in one of those tacos to see what on earth everyone is talking about! read more

The food here is simply not good. It just isn't. But you're in Arizona, and close to a tourist attraction which apparently means a lot of bland food for lack of competition. I'm giving this place three stars for all the souvenirs and crafts and such that this place has. We had bean and bacon soup, and a mini navajo taco. the bean and bacon soup was alright tasting but very very very thin for a bean soup. the navajo taco was very obviously fried in old rancid oil with bland tasteless toppings; outrageous. Pros: the staff was very nice. Our server was a sweetheart and made sure to stop by our table every so often. The location was pretty. The dining room has beautiful outdoor scenery, very large windows. Cons: the food. Very bland, no flavor. The portions were large but we didn't finish anything because everything pretty much tasted bad. Husband got the Navajo taco and said it had no flavor at all. He was even given a small portion of salsa that came with the taco only to have that not have flavor either lol I got the hot wings and a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. While visiting the Grand Canyon, we asked the rangers where to buy authentic Native American crafts and were directed to the Cameron Trading Post. I wouldn't come out of my way to stop here (it happened to be on our way up to Page from Flagstaff), but if it's on your journey its worth a look. The store is a mix of authentic crafts and gifts and the usual touristy trinkets. They have lots of items at reasonable prices. They also have a gallery of speciality items that are considered vintage and/or are made by well-known artists. It's nice to be able to look through and see some of the higher quality kachinas and other items. We also stopped in the restaurant to grab a bite. I tried a prickly pear milkshake and I split a navajo taco. The taco is served on fry bread and topped with beans, a little beef, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese and chiles. The portion was HUGE- I definitely recommend sharing. I wouldn't say it was anything spectacular. It was pretty bland. Service was friendly. read more

This is a review for the restaurant portion. We ordered Novajo Taco and Rosted Beef on Fried Bread. Our goal was to try Novajo Taco since we heard a lot about that on our trip to Grand Canyon. Obviously it is something new and worth trying at least once. Other than the novelty factor probably there is not much to it. It is chilly, beans, lettuce, cheese (a lot of it), jalapeno etc served on a flat fried bread (I will include a picture of it). If you are a tourist, probably there is not much else in the menu to try out here. Really great stop between Page and Grand Canyon. It's an old trading post which has been converted to a restaurant, hotel and gift shop. They have a ginormous array of arts and crafts, books, blankets, a weaving workshop, everything! The restaurant has surprisingly good food and I say this because of so many tourist traps serving watered down versions of 'Navajo' food in the Grand Canyon area, this place isn't one of them! The food was tasty, fresh, not too healthy perhaps if you ordered the famous fry bread, but definitely worth a nutritional sin. We had a very good Navajo taco, beef stew and chile verde stew- all hearty meals which were really working well with a chilly November day. One of the Grand Canyon employees recommended this restaurant whole heartedly!! He told us that the Navajo Tacos were great!!! We drove the extra 30 plus miles, one way, to give them a try!! THEY WERE TERRIBLE!!! There was very little meat, hardly any seasoning, but there were pinto beans galore!!! Not fresh cooked pinto beans, they tasted like someone opened a can of pinto beans and dumped them on!! The cheese was room temp, and had the appearance of the generic shredded cheese you can buy at Walmart. Honestly the best part of the taco was the fry bread that the other ingredients sat on!! However, sadly the wetness of the beans and meat soaked into the fry bread - making it a mushy mess! The positives were that the restaurant is beautiful, wood trim, metal ceilings - big windows. Really the "look" of the dining area is lovely. The waiter was polite, but too busy! He was serving a group of 54, besides several other tables, at the same time. So it took quite a while to get our food. My husband ordered an appetizer of hummus. It was supposed to be spicy, it wasn't (which I was okay with, I prefer my hummus plain). As for how good the hummus was, it was very good!! It came with fry bread that wasn't soggy!! The final blow was the bill!!! For four of us, with non-alcoholic beverages, 1 appetizer and four meals (3 Navajo Tacos, an order of hot wings and a side of fries) -- our bill was over $80!!! Now add a 15% tip!!! No way the meal we were served was worth $100!!! I would never recommend this place to any one -- especially the Navajo Tacos!!! Just order some hummus and fry bread to go, but expect to pay $12 - $13 for that appetizer alone! read more

My husband and I stayed here on our way to the Grand Canyon from Yellowstone. As we were driving through the dessert to get to Cameron, there was nothing around and we were getting very nervous about what we were going to find at Cameron. When we first pulled into Cameron Trading post we breathed a sigh of relief as the outside looked like a nice motel. When we walked into our room for the night we were shocked, it was the nicest room we had stayed in during our honeymoon. There was a living room with a couch with a pull out bed, a table and kitchenette. A small hallway leading to the bathroom, that had a tub, as well as the bedroom. The bedroom was huge, it had a queen size bed on risers and an armoire with a TV. If we are ever back in that area of the country, we will definitely be staying there again. read more

First visited the place in 1969 where there were counters of traded silver and turquoise jewelry. There was a room where the locals would hang out and look at us tourist and have a good laugh. I've been back several times over the years and of course things have changed. The trade items were few and pricey and of course there were lots of tourist items. But the real treat is the back room that houses all the authentic Indian made rugs and other items. A woman was working the loom patiently batting down each thread and glad that the art of fine rug making is still there. I looked and touched as many rugs as I could and appreciate the fine craft of these rugs. This room alone is worth coming here. Didn't buy anything this time . . . still can't afford it! Of course, you are escorted around the showroom but I touched everything and took my sweet time. Nice people too. Tourist trap? Most definitely but it's a great stop to get out of the car and stretch the legs. The restrooms are clean (Hooray!). I've never eaten at the restaurant or stayed at the hotel so I can't comment on that. But I did use my 5% coupon on a few t-shirts! read more

We came for the Navajo tacos, which are gigantic (even a big eater can barely finish the "mini"--no joke) but fairly uninspired. The fry bread was good and freshly baked; the toppings seemed to be out of a can and were no more than what mama threw together from cans on taco night. I haven't had a chance to visit or stay here, but I've had a spectacular 'online' experience. I recently moved to AZ, though I'd traveled here often. I purchased a small kachina as a birthday present for my nephew, and wanted to learn more about it. Checking online, the Cameron Trading Post kept popping up. So I sent them an email asking if they could help. I got a quick reply from Josh Atkinson asking me to send photos and he'd see what he could find out. I sent a photo of that kachina as well as an unfinished one that was a gift to my family in the late 1960s. With some queries by his staff who had relatives on the First Mesa, He got back to me with great information about both kachinas. I can now share the stories with my nephew and my family. I'm so great full for the help I received, and will definitely be stopping by the trading post when I can get up to north Arizona. read more

Wonderful service. Kind, accommodating, and helpful. We shopped, ate, and stayed in the Hotel. The hotel was older but it was clean and had gorgeous views. The restaurant staff was incredibly attentive, sweet, soft spoken, and helpful. They did have a few vegetarian options but if I were to suggest anything it would adding more vegetarian food with suggestions from an actual vegetarian. The store was delightful and the staff were very knowledgeable. The gardens are gorgeous! We will definitely be back! read more

We stopped here with our tour group on the way back to Scottsdale, as did a lot of other tour groups from the Grand Canyon. This place is huge and has tons and tons of stuff.
