The lovely woman who runs the business uses the shop to run art classes in painting, drawing and sculpture. She runs short holiday classes for beginners as well as mentoring more advanced students. At the front of the shop she displays and sells her own work along with many of her students' pieces. The work is bright and vibrant, and much of it is on a beach or sea life theme. Every piece is worth a good look at, and the range of styles is fantastic, giving you lots to choose from and admire. This certainly isn't like browsing a gallery of work that is all the same. The feeling of the shop is scattered and organic. It sells small statues and metal sculptures. Standing by the door is the life sized statue of a cow, painted in bright floral patterns. There is definitely lots to see here. The owner spends a lot of time on her community art programs, so it's a wonderful place to pop into now and again to get a little print out of her upcoming classes, as well as to see the new pieces she and her students have made.

The list goes on. Located on the second floor near Kmart, I first came here when I needed some stickers for my 21st book. There were lots which made it hard for me to decide. I ended up choosing some pretty butterflies and gold happy birthday stickers. The service was good and the staff seemed helpful when customers had questions. I'd suggest this shop to anyone who enjoys hand-making cards, painting/drawing, scrap booking, etc.

Should have stocked up on more because it seems the store regularly sells out of them! In recent times when I have gone to the store to buy more beads, I have been told by the young female store attendant that the store is out of them. On one particular Saturday, I asked this store attendant if she could please order some more in, to which she replied that this was not possible. I insisted that she write a note to the store manager to ask that this be possible and she reluctantly did so and reportedly left it on her manager's desk. To this day, I have not received a phone call from the store to tell me whether or not they were able to order some more in. If these beads are so popular and selling-out all the time, why do you not order more? In addition, due to the unhelpful nature of the staff at Riot Marion, I am unlikely to return and would rather spend my money elsewhere.

I was lucky enough to get a full size easel for my birthday which was sourced from this shop and the person that got it for me (who has no idea about art or what to buy) came home with a giant grin on his face and relayed to me all the specs and possibilities of the easel he ended up buying me. It is a really good one. When I went in there earlier today searching for supplies for my upcoming Visual Art uni year, I had a big chat with the girl about art, supplies and study. It was extremely comforting and supportive and great being in an atmosphere with others so passionate about art. They have a great supply of good quality paints, pastels, mediums, pencils, easels, sketchbooks and canvasses. Great for advice and a good little quaint old fashioned shop.

A friend of mine once purchased a whole carton of decorative picture stands from this store at a even further discounted price, she paid $2 a stand, whereas elsewhere they were going for about $7 each. A few months ago I purchased five cartons of ten slightly bigger than A4 size canvases for a project I was doing and it was the equivalent of paying $3 each...bargain! Now these products and prices are not always available but keep and eye out for specials and grab them...if you need it that is and support your inner Picasso!

They don't have all the top end supplies, nor do they make canvases to order (I recommend Pimlott Framing for that), so there are times one might want to visit the likes of Premier Art supplies or Eckersleys for some specialised items. There are a range of craft and gift items to bring out those creative juices for everyone. There is also off street parking and the staff is helpful and will help cart big boxes of canvases to your car (so I've discovered! And also help squeeze them into said car). They also promote local art classes and happenings via a noticeboard in store. My tip is to visit and let your imagination soar!

The warehouse, whilst packed with fabric bolts and notions, is still easy to navigate and if in doubt, or unfamiliar with what exactly 'crepe de chine is', like I am, Tricia is there to offer advice and help point you in the right direction. In addition to fabric and extensive notions, Tricia offers quilt classes several nights a week as well as stocking quilting supplies for the budding 'quiltress'. Open seven days a week, right off of South Road is a haven for those interested in the revival of DIY fashion.

I've moved across town and so, although they knew me by name at the Glen Osmond Road store and I was sad to leave, there are all the same supplies at the Harbour Town store. So I'm grateful for a quick solution if I run out of paint part-way through a 'masterpiece'. This store has a large and varied range of art materials. Many of them are low prices. They don't stock all the top end or specialised supplies, but one can go to Premier or Eckersley's for those. Apart from art supplies, there are craft and gifts, so there is something for everyone. And no excuse not to get creative!

There are a crazy amount of stores all over asia and now they are branching overseas. It has Chinese origin and is jam packed full of stuff. Yes, stuff. Lot's of stuff. I don't know where to begin? Stationary, mugs, slippers, bags, pillows, toys, scented sticks, jars, things... things.. and some stuff. There is also a whole section devoted to gigantic toys. You know the ones that you see at the Royal Show for prizes when you win alley games. Those ones. I think if you are looking for cool little jars and storage containers you might like a few things here. But, otherwise just be prepared to be overwhelmed with things. Actually, I know who will love this store. High school students. This is a store for kids that want cute little toys to hang off their school bags, cool stationary and shiny objects to decorate their rooms. Don't get me wrong, there are some cute things here. Like a whole lot of cute stationary items. Loved the note pads and pens. But then I saw a flower bouquet of rabbits and teddy bears. I mean, who wants that? But, in all honesty, you should probably go have a look. It's not like any other store in Adelaide.
