The ultimate screen free vacation, there is no other place on earth like WBL. Our kids have learned to ski and wakeboard, taught by the best, and cannot wait until they are old enough to become staffers themselves. What a wonderful place to spend a week, we can't wait to return! Date of stay: we have been visiting White Birch Lodge every summer since 2014.

You were supposed to bring your towels to a towel drop off to get fresh ones. At this price point I don't think that's right, neither is taking out your trash. I was not informed of all the sports that where available like tennis. I never had the opportunity to go on a pontoon boat ride. Also we sat outside in a partially covered tent for all our meals, it would've been nice for them to change the seating arrangement up. It was cold and wet for a couple of days. I have some grace b/c of covid. The food was often put away after about 15 minutes to a half hour. Not enough time if anyone wanted seconds. On the up side everyone was very nice and helpful. I just think it's really overpriced. My family did enjoy themselves mostly. Maybe 3 stars is more fair.

This cozy hotel, nestled near Petosky and surrounded by many wineries, is the most fabulous boutique hotel. The outdoor trees are beautifully decorated and it makes you feel like you're in a hallmark movie. As we drove up, and parked we were met by an employee who knew our names and took our bags to our room. Felt like I was in Dubai getting VIP status service again. Our check-in was swift, and we were given a tour of the downstairs which had an amazing bar with a roaring fire, and free snacks and waters. It also had a small gym, and a game room containing a billiards table. Once we finally got to the room we were so shocked. The room was massive and absolutely breath taking. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the sheets were super soft. The highlight was the outdoor patio. We got a room on the first floor. The patio came enclosed with heaters so that you can go out and look out at the lake and not freeze. During Christmas they put a Christmas tree on each patio. Very romantic and festive. Service is, by far, the number one thing about this place. The hotels beauty is obvious, but it only goes so far if the service isn't there. We loved every minute of our stay. The bartender in the evening was the best. We sat there for hours and just chatted. He was very personable, and fun to talk to. We also wanted to use the jacuzzi, so the front desk employee went, and opened it up for us even though it was freezing outside. They also let us stay 20 minutes past the hours of operation without question. There were many more things we didn't do like snow shoeing on the lake, but they offer many things for kids, families, or outdoor enthusiasts. Overall, this was probably one of the best vacations we have had. From the service to Amenities they checked every box. If you are looking for romance, or even a family get away then this place is a must. We also took advantage of the wineries in the area. They are still open in the winter. I wish I would of snapped more photos for all to see, but I was wanted to live in the moment and not technology. This place has won many awards as a top wine hotel in the country. Just make sure you call way in advance for reservations. They book up extremely early. We booked a year in advance.

Eric and Misty are friendly, knowledgeable and accessible hosts. The food they made was delicious and is chef-quality. They did their best to accommodate our dietary restrictions. All of these factors helped make our stay an amazing experience, as well as their advice on where to go and what to see in the area. The Inn itself is a large converted farmhouse on an organic cherry farm just north of Traverse City. it does sit next to a highway so there was some significant road noise at times. However it is still an idyllic peaceful property with many places to sit and contemplate nature.

The large wraparound porch was the highlight for us! Even though there had been quite a bit of rain, we were able to spend some time outside overlooking the cherry trees and we were able to see one of the most beautiful sunsets of our lives. The wide open fields that surround the property were a much-needed respite from city life. The home is cozy and historic feeling while somehow also seeming updated in many ways. Our room was well appointed and extremely clean. We stayed in the Kesner room with a slight view of the bay. Breakfast was delicious and somewhat unexpectedly posh, as Eric prepared an egg scramble over asparagus with a breakfast caprese salad, as well as a fruit & ginger smoothie. We enjoyed meeting other guests at the table as well. Misty & Eric also provided complimentary refreshments to guests, which was a nice touch to an already lovely stay. I was initially concerned that it wasn't close enough to Traverse City for our visit to the cherry festival, but it was a quick drive into town and I would absolutely stay at Country Hermitage again. Overall, I can't say enough great things about Country Hermitage and our hosts. Highly recommend.
