For my stay, the Cambridge had everything I could want plus some. It has a super location on Riley Street just of the main drag of Oxford, it's a quite area, safe particularly since it is right across the street from a police station, affords an easy walk to the Kingscross, Potts Point, King Street Warf, the Australian Museum and other points of interest. And though it has its own restaurant and bar, there are plenty nearby. As a tip, I'd recommend the Porterhouse Hotel, a charming little Irish bar with rather good food, pleasant service and of course, good drinks.
The staff at the Cambridge couldn't be more polite, knowledgeable and helpful, especially with arrangement for tours or taxis.
It's also a very reasonable priced hotel having rather spacious rooms and an excellent cleaning staff. They are WiFi equipped and have a computer area, but unfortunately access to either are at additional charges.
One of the quirky if not downright funny things about the place are its elevators. There are two, since but since they both work off of the same button but are around a corner from each other, you really can't see both at the same time. Luckily there were two of us, so it was a simple matter for us to divide up and conquer. Oh, and then probably not so strange to an Australian, it actually does have a thirteenth floor clearly designated on the elevator. In case you don't get it, Americans in particular are actually a rather superstitious lot, believing that thirteen is the number of bad luck, hence elevators most of skip 13, with numbers going from 12 directly to 14.
Because of its reasonable rates, cleanliness, great desk staff and terrific location, I have zero hesitation giving it my Four Stars Plus recommendation and good seal of approval. read more
