This bed and breakfast literally saved our trip to Alma Nebraska…read more We decided we were going to travel to Alma for some ATV and jet skiing fun. We decided that in order to save some bucks we were going to camp on Harlan Lake. The first night was windy but not awful. It got gusty but not enough to do us any harm. We spent most of the next day away from the camp site but it was incredibly windy. When we got back in the evening to cook dinner and s'mores we found our tent had buckled under the Nebraska wind. Tent poles broken and poking out of the tent in places they should not have been our spirits were pretty low. We decided to do what any sane person would, pack up camp and go out for more ATV fun and dinner. While out we decided we wanted to shower and sleep in a bed and so we called Annabelle's to see if there was any vacancy. She told us there was and we told her we would be there later, between 8-9 PM and she was ready for us when we got here. She must have thought that we were more outdoorsy than we are because she had thought we were going to want to stay in the hunting room. My wife told me that it was too masculine and that she wanted to stay in "Grandma's Legacy. " it was a very nice room with attached bathroom, four-poster bed and ceiling fan. It did get hot but nothing th fan didn't help out with. My wife doesn't want to go home to our water because the soft for here watt here has been great for her hair and skin. I don't normally like soft water but it has been nice. She told us before we went to bed that breakfast was at 8 AM and told us what we would be eating. We slept great and woke up to plenty warm water and a quiet house. We met in the breakfast nook at about 5 till and were greeted by the other guests of the night. We all sat down and enjoyed a lovely meal with the lady of the house. It was fun to hear her talk about the town and tell us all about the local people. She is great. All inn all we loved our stay here and will definitely stay here again if we are ever in the area again.

And another day has passed for our wait. We actually drove by this place earlier today. Beautiful boarding house. Restaurant in a separate building which appears newer. And here we are after dinner on friday night. All foods were basic prep of days past. So...rather plain, not much seasoning. But real good handmade everything. We selected brisket and chicken. Both were good. Scalloped potatoes and baked beans, also real good. Beans probably our favorite. Dessert of a brownie and mud pie cake. The cake was new for us. A glass of white moscato was good. Small bottles of Sutter Home. Guessing, not much alcohol is consumed here. Owner Bob, stopped and told us wonderful story of this place which in distant times, his wife's family homesteaded the farm here. She operates the lodge and they live there also. Part of the original house makes up the hotel lodge. We did not tour the lodge/bed and breakfast house. Amazing story and pleasant staff, atmosphere and overall experience. Special events can be booked here. The restaurant building is a long-time-ago barn. No appearance of that now.
