Poorly kept hotel. Not as advertised. The couch was so dirty I would not sit on it. There were greasy crumbs on the desk. The office chair was in very poor condition. You would be better off staying at a Motel 6 or Econo Lodge. I believe the bad reviews about theft and bedbugs. They describe it as upscale and that is very deceiving and untrue. I was treated very poorly by the lady at the front desk. The rooms were late being cleaned because the housekeeping staff was just loitering around going out to smoke every 5 minutes. I travel a lot for work and stay in a variety of hotels so I have experienced not so good and very good and everything in between. This place is the worst I have experienced. read more

Stayed here for 1 night. I booked in advance before arriving and choose a King Room. Somehow ended up with an ADA room for the disabled, not sure why unless they ran out of normal King size rooms?! It didn't bother me much as the only difference was the extra seat and grab bar in the shower but I did wonder if someone who was disable would need this room more than me. On the facade the room look nice. This is a clean hotel with great beds and fluffy pillows. However, the attention to details on the upkeep of the room is what knocked some stars down. There is a wooden brown divider that divides the living room from the bedroom. On the divider are decorative vase pieces and somehow 2 of them are missing, stolen or broken. You can see the hotel staff did not even try to replace them and you can view the exposed glue. See the advertised pic vs the actual room I received. Small things like this does matter. In the morning I went downstairs for a hot breakfast and they only had pancakes, fruits, muffins and cereal. I was appalled to find a sign that says these items are not for free including milk, yogurt, etc which a lot of hotels provide as part of their free breakfast. I grabbed a muffin and a banana to go. We checked in at the Cambria Hotel in Rapid City, South Dakota and had the worst experience anyone could have. First, the description on the website and their mobile app said two bedrooms, and we went to the room with the front desk lady, Stacy and it was not a two bedroom hotel room. Second, the room was filthy. We went back downstairs to the front desk to talk to Stacy to let her know that we didn't want to stay there and we wanted to cancel our reservation and she went off on us and was extremely rude with us. I'm surprised they allow an individual like her to work there. While we were standing there, two customers came down to complain that one of their rooms was not cleaned, and the other one had no soap nor towels in their room. We asked to speak to Kathryn Brekke, the General Manager, and we were told she wasn't in, so we came back on Friday morning, the 27th, and the GM was not in again, so we came back on Monday the 30th, asked to speak to Kathryn, and she refused to speak with us and told her front desk lady, Jen to tell us they are not going to refund us the night of the 26th. We didn't stay there on the 26th, we went to another hotel which was much nicer and friendlier. Stacy had told us all hotels were sold out, and wouldn't you know, they weren't. I called the CEO number to speak to Patrick Pacious, and was told I wasn't allowed to speak with him, and ended up speaking with an Asian lady named Kim, who I couldn't understand at all, but she filed a claim for us, and told me to call back in 48 hours to check the status of our complaint. No, they don't contact the customer back, we have to call them. I asked her who was her manager, and she said she wasn't allowed to tell me. I swear, this chain of Cambria Hotels is a joke. As far as hotels goes this one is perfectly adequate, it's clean, it looks ok, my room has two TVs, the bathroom vanity is nice but the shower is very basic/not nice. The hotel restaurant isn't especially good, it's a bar but they ONLY serve wine or beer and the food is, very basic and just ok. The reason I wouldn't recommend this place is it's very poorly sound proofed. The internet here is also painfully slow, I couldn't even check the weather before I check out because it won't load. The traffic noise here is loud and constant, all night loud traffic will keep you up. Beyond that the AC in my room was very loud, even just on fan (SOME white noise to drown out the loud constant traffic) is a terrible clicky sounding fan noise.... Extremely annoying. Slept poorly because the noise in my room was absolutely not conducive to sleeping, which isn't great when you're driving long hours everyday and need restful sleep. They need to fix their AC, soundproof their rooms a lot better and hire a new chef and it might be worth a stay. read more

Not really a good experience in my opinion and I personally feel this wasn't a good place to stay for my trip . I got here at about 12:30 am at night and I had to wait in the lobby for over 20 minutes for somebody to even come to the front desk. 20 minutes, let that sink in. Rooms are dated, falling apart, at least the one I was in. I try to take good pictures but there were too many small things that were adding up and I only took pictures of the style to give readers and idea of a budget place to stay. I would say you get what you paid for but I kind of paid a steep price for these rooms over $400 for two nights , to me, this is a lot of money for a budget place. I stepped on a screw on the floor with my bare foot that was supposed to keep a mirror secure, I found drugs on the floor by a floor lamp , and I didn't want to touch it , one of the remotes didn't work for the TVs , spots and stains on the furniture , cracked and burnt lampshades, broken ice bucket , fridge was frozen over inside. I just wasn't really happy at all with my stay , talked to the manager-Sara, who is very nice. I just needed a shower and a bed for two days and that's what I got. The shower was clean except for caulking that was coming out of the wall while I was showering, and some small mold spots on the ceiling , And the bed was just fine, no stains , rips, or bugs , nothing wrong with the bed thank goodness. I would definitely pass on staying again , but that's just my opinion. read more

What I found when I turned back the comforter on the bed! I was sick! I notified the front desk & they did send up a change of bedding. I travel for work so I notified my boss & she changed my hotel. But not for another day! Then last night around 1:30 I was awoken by the people in the room next to me having sex so loud that I couldn't sleep. This hotel seems like a pay by the hour motel instead of an upscale hotel that charges $230 a night for a room! I've also noticed that the carpet is shredding in the hallways & the floors are dirty & that only makes me wonder really how clean my room is! The very first thing that happened to me when I arrived to check in was one of the clerk's said to me that they don't allow animals & when I told her that my dog was a service dog she said do you have his jacket? I said yes at home because it's to hot but he's wearing his tag & I have his paperwork! She said we don't need his paperwork. People come here because they have allergies & don't have to be around animals! Well then they should stay home! I have allergies and take medication and deal with them! She just walked away & said she was going to let the new shift deal with it! The next clerk didn't say a word about my dog and was very polite and professional. I'm usually a Hilton guy but a coworker book my room for me. I was pleasantly surprised. The room has a living room area that is separated by a wall without a door from the bed. There is also a desk in the living room area so I could get some work done. The bathroom was very clean. I think the lady at the front desk might still be in training so you'll have to be patient when you're checking in. The back to the desk chair was broken. It forced me to sit-up straight which isn't a big deal but I could see how that would bother some. read more

I flew in late to the Rapid City airport and chose this hotel as a last minute booking. Front desk was very helpful and kind when checking in. My room was like most big hotel rooms. The bed felt just a little worn out but wasn't an issue for me as the bedding made up for it! I didn't stop for the breakfast but it did look nice and clean when I grabbed a coffee on the way out. Price seemed kind of steep however everything nowadays is outrageously priced. I'll stay here again when flying out! It's easy to get to and has quite a bit around it. read more

THEFT and lack of Management. Items were stolen from our room. Not once, but TWICE. Management has lied and avoided my calls. After the item was stolen the first time, it was located and verified by the general manager that the item had been returned to the hotel. Then after paying for a shipping label to and from the hotel for the return of my item, the item was stolen a second time. I had to keep calling them after my tracking number was shown to be received from the hotel, but was never sent back. I kept calling and when I finally did speak with the Manager, my item had been stolen AGAIN. I tried to remedy this situation before having to leave negative reviews of the hotel and staff, but as of now, nothing has been done to remedy this situation! read more

Cambria is not fancy. Cambria is just EXACTLY what a business traveler like me wants. The hotel is clean. The staff is attentive and available. The Internet is faster than most hotels. The pillows are ample, the soap is bath and body works, and they sometimes provide lotion. The iron and ironing board is working. Their is a TV in front of the bed, and in front of the couch. The desk has plenty of space for me to fire up the laptop. I don't use the gym or the pool...I'm working. They do have pretty good sidewalks to get a run in (so long as the weather is agreeable). They have okay parking...but there is a lot of construction going on, so there is a lot of mud, snow, and other debris all over the roads in the entrance. They have a small covered area for the bikers. They have a pretty good bar and happy hour. I also like their restaurant...I don't eat here a lot, but it is pretty good. I tend to eat breakfast here, and only eat dinner when I'm dragging ass and don't feel like going back out to eat. The coffee is generally hot and available in the morning, with all the accouterments to make it good for me. I.e. milk, sugar, etc... A copy of the USA today to get my daily does of the news... I went online to their website and reserved a king suite for 3 nights. Price given was $134 per night. I got to the hotel to check in, there was a gentleman ahead of me that was asking if they had any rooms. The front desk worker said they had a king suite for $134 per night, which is the same room and rate I noted online. When it came my turn, this lady checked me in and took all of my information and gave me my paper to sign, she told me to note the rate changes. The rates went from $134 per night, to $199, $154, and $154. I asked why the rates changed and how that gentleman ahead of me got the same room and night for $60 less. They gave me the line, well the rates fluctuate. How can that be possible when I reserved the room at the same rate this other guy did, and just hours earlier. My friend who stayed the same nights I did, paid less than $134 per night. WTF is going on with this place.? read more

Nice pool, nice rooms, however, I left my wallet in the room, went back to discover my wallet was MISSING and the housekeepers cleaned our room spotlessly. The front desk was no help. I stayed at this hotel overnight for work. First impression was great. The restaurant has a nice happy hour and the rooms are nice. But shortly after bed I was unpleasantly awakened by none other than...BED BUGS!!!!!! This was my first experience with bed bugs and I hope the last. What was even more disappointing is how the staff handled it. I called to the front dest at 1:30am and was told, "I'm not sure what to do" by the front desk lady. Finally she called me back and said that she would send some up to my room with keys to a new room. When the overnight manager guy came up, I showed him the bug. He says, "I know exactly where they came from, the people who stayed here last night definitely brought them in". While this isn't the fanciest place, and the carpet in the hallway is well worn, I give it five stars for service! I arrived after air travel which caused my injured foot to swell. By the time I got to the room, I needed to rest it. I asked Trigg, the wonderful front desk clerk if they had an ice pack. He was going to bring me one and then couldn't leave the desk. 20 minutes later there was a knock on my door. I opened it to find Trigg with a bag of ice...lifesaver! Thank you, Trigg. I have never seen a room so well maintained. That can be said for the rest of the property, as well. The service was exceptional--everyone was extremely friendly. The bed was so inviting that I had to take a nap upon arrival. The linens were thick and soft and the comforter and blankets were all very cozy, with the feathertop mattress being the icing on the cake. The bathroom was immaculate and the towels were fresh and fluffy. The Bath and Body Works coconut lime verbena and rain scent toiletries were nice touches. We enjoyed using the large whirlpool and decent sized swimming pool. The entire area was very clean and well stocked. We also took advantage of the fitness room which overlooks the pool. There were 2 bikes, 3 treadmills, an elliptical, cables, and dumbbells with two benches, as well as mats, medicine balls, a bosu ball, and exercise balls. We ate at the attached Wolfgang puck bar restaurant. My caesar salad was very good (but not exceptional) and my boyfriend loved his chicken alfredo. The side of mac and cheese was just ok. The hot delicious cookies at the front desk made our stay that much sweeter. ;) We absolutely loved our stay at Cambria and would recommend it to anyone. We enjoyed at this new hotel on the east end of town near the 90 freeway. Pros: 24 hr pool, Jacuzzi, fitness room. Airport shuttle was very accomodating. Rooms are nicely designed and comfortable with free WiFi. This is a suite, so there is a sitting area (living room?) with its own TV, in addition to the bedroom TV. The bathroom is large and well-appointed. It is very quiet, except for a little freeway noise. But did not hear noise from other guests or hallway. Room service is prompt. Cons: The king bed is too large for the bedroom. There are only about three inches between the bed and the heater/AC. The all-you-can-eat breakfast ($9.95) is good; they make custom omelettes and there is plenty of fruit, oatmeal, etc. We got there about 9:45, 15 minutes prior to closing. The omelette didn't taste fresh -- don't know if it was the oil or what. We mentioned this to the chef, and she got us a freshly made omelette from the kitchen! It was much, much better, and we appreciated that level of service. We ordered room service on a couple of occasions. The pasta bolognese was pretty bad as was the turkey sandwich. One of my favorite hotels in the Rapid area since it was built a couple of years ago. I am a big fan of the suite concept in hotels and usually aim to stay at venues like this one. Why a suite? Because these are set up with a sleeping area, a sitting area with a separate TV, and a little prep area with a coffee maker, microwave, and a fridge. Plus housekeeping does a nice job of keeping it all very tidy. Don't want to hang out in the room? No problem...the fitness area has some nice machines and is not cramped, the pool is well maintained and not too deep (no slides - sorry kids) and the hot tub is good sized. Hungry? It has a nice little restaurant and bar area in the main lobby. I cannot speak to breakfast, but the dinner menu while not elaborate, has very tasty choices; bonus: the staff is excellent. Not interested in spending any time in the hotel? It's near I-90, but not noisy from the road. It's close to Rushmore Crossing and the mall, as well as many eateries. Bonus, it's a quick and easy drive from the airport. read more

Rooms are very spacious and beautiful, employees are some of the nicest people who seem to enjoy there jobs, and the food is delicious (mac and cheese is a must try). Very frustrating stay. One elevator was completely broken (and had been for at least a week) and the other works, but it wasn't recommended to use. This has made things very difficult since one in our party is unable to go up and down stairs and we were booked on the 4th floor. Managers were not very helpful and the general manager does not seem to feel like this is an important enough issue to come in to the hotel. We will never stay here again and will not recommend it to anyone. Luckily there are plenty of other nice hotels in Rapid City. Even when the elevators are working well again, our experience with the front desk and management was poor enough that I won't ever consider Cambria again. read more

Rapid City's Cambria Suites, located near I-90 near the eastern edge of town, touches all of the bases without being particularly memorable. Well, there is a Quaker Steak & Lube to the front, the only one within over 350 miles, in case you want a sit down burger-and-whiskey joint within walking distance. And there is a Cabela's, also within walking distance, that is if you are willing to either jump over a drainage ditch or walk out to East Mall Drive. As for the hotel itself, the gym and pool areas are well-kept, although it was a bit odd to have only two pool toys available. The hotel restaurant's dinner was certainly adequate, though it may have featured the weakest local brew I've ever had, some sort of cream ale that couldn't have exceeded 3.5%. Of course, given that a fly died in my drink, I didn't finish it so I guess it could've gotten better. Nah, didn't think so. The breakfast buffet was well-organized and had plenty of offerings. Our room was comfortable, large enough, and quiet enough. Cambria does what a hotel should - let you sleep safe and sound, offer a few amenities, and then send you on your way while being polite about it. read more

I stayed at Cambria in Rapid City 02/09/2021. Shortly upon checking in, I took a shower. The water never warmed up. I complained and they had tons of excuses, advising they'd address the issue. I asked for a discounted room, and they declined anything significant, stating I already had a AAA discount. I spoke to the manager and he said he'd try and fix the issue. In the morning, I tried again to take a shower...and the water was cold again. I let it run for 4 or five minutes ...still no hot water. Upon checking out ...I again asked for a discount...their offer was insignificant. I won't stay again. I could have stayed at a lesser facility and had a hot shower. My husband and I stayed at this Cambria Hotel in Rapid City, South Dakota on October 9th and 10th for part 2 of our yearly vacation. Around 2 a.m. I got up to go to restroom and right foot got tangled up on loose wire that was hanging out of air unit and I fell forward, and hit right side of face on the edge of the dresser- chin, cheek and eye, right arm, right breast, chest and right knee. When we told front desk in the morning a maintenance guy who happened to be there followed us to room and said that cord had not been connected inside air unit. He pulled it out and took it with him. The manager comped breakfast that morning-$20, and I was so upset and embarrassed and didn't even eat. That was it! I had to go to clinic and during next week the bruising continued as we went on to Wyoming - Jackson Hole, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone back to Denver then home to Texas. I was embarrassed to go out to eat and got many concerned glances while my husband received some nasty stares. Hotel was nice but room's layout was odd and very cramped. Front desk staff is extremely pleasant on every shift as are the dining room staff, as well as accommodating to dietary restrictions. Be sure to check out the large hot tub and spacious fitness room. Pretty poor experience. Carpets are dirty and stained everywhere. No towels at the pool, went to ask for some but they didn't have any... There was blood on the pull out couch, not on the bed portion, but down in the mechanics of it and the wooden frame. When I informed the staff(as I was leaving) they said sorry and that it was disgusting. There's a very strict no outside food or drink policy everywhere, including the lobby and pool. I would head up the road and stay at any one of the four hotels attached to watiki before I ever stayed here again. Breakfast is $10 per person. read more

Let me start off by saying I love Cambria suites. I like the layout, amenities, service...everything. I would especially like to give kudos to the Cambria in Traverse City, Michigan. That being said my experience at the Cambria in Rapid City was less than spectacular. The room was a mess. Nothing was wiped down, there was coffee or beverage stains everywhere, The cushions were stained and it looked like there was some kind of bodily fluid on both TVs. I drop my toothpaste cap and it rolled underneath the sink where I found a bug or mouse trap and a used canister of chewing tobacco. Believe it or not this was not the worst part of my stay. It was the poor customer Service that would I experienced that was most disappointing. When my wife asked the front counter person to turn down the temperature in the gym which was at 79 degrees. he responded by saying "maybe you're hot because you're running." He stated he would send somebody to turn down the temperature but no one ever came. When I asked someone about what I could do in town they handed me two maps without ever saying a word. And when checking out we talked about our experience with the front desk person it was like they could care less. He actually said "housekeeping is really hit or miss". Do you really want to stay at a hotel for $200 a night where housekeeping is hit or miss ? When we asked to speak to a manager the front counter person just shrugged his shoulders so me and my wife just walked out. This review does not include every bad experience we had... For me a top notch hotel is not a place with a posh name, chic interior design or having a 5 star restaurant attached to it. A top notch hotel for ME is a place that will give me top notch service and provide me with an excellent and comfortable room to sleep in. Cambria hotel here in rapid city has provided all that for me therefore I can truly say that this place is top notch. 1. Our flight was delayed so we arrived pretty late, almost midnight. The desk clerk was alert, cheerful and efficient. Checking in was a breeze with this guy. He provided us with the room key and a little laminated piece of paper that had the hotel wifi code, hours of room service operation and hours for the breakfast buffet and cost. Very efficient...I didn't have to ask the questions they anticipated it for me. That's what great service is all about! Anticipating what the guests need before they even open their mouth. It makes me as guest automatically think that this is an efficient and organized place that will give me good service. 2. The room was CLEAN! For a germaphobe like me who loves to travel this is heaven sent. The most important for me was the bathroom. Oh you don't think I check every corner? I darn well do...and this place was spick and span. 3. They provided a mini fridge, coffee maker and a microwave. They have a living room area with a tv and a desk. The adjoining bedroom area had a big comfy bed with another tv. Folks don't need to fight over the channel or remote over here! 4. They have a business center with computers and a printer. Yay! What's the big deal you ask? Well not all hotels have this particular area where you can print boarding passes, last minute instructions, maps etc or whatever you need. They also have a pool, gym and a fire pit area. I didn't have time to check those out...but I peaked in and they were pretty darn nice. 5. Breakfast buffet was decent enough for $9.99. Hey it's not as fancy as the buffets in Vegas but those fancy buffets aren't that delicious either...you're really paying for food presentation and the ambiance. 6. The maid service actually cleans the rooms! OMG major shocker and what really convinced me that this place deserves 5 stars. They actually replaced the towels with new ones and provided new soaps, lotions etc. I know really fancy places that don't do any of that. I stayed at the Wynn last year and I know they just hung my wet towels on the floor back up and sprayed it with febreze. I knew they did this because the maid service came into my room just when I was coming out of it. Then after an hour I went back in to get something and the towels hung up were still wet and smelled like they've been sprayed on. (I made a complaint of course). Anyway next time you're in rapid city stay here! It's fairly new and its built in an area that is still being developed. The front desk is awesome and they do their job well. We are here in Rapid City to enjoy our vacation to see Mt. Rushmore and surrounding area. Decided to book at this newly opened Residence Inn for three nights. The room (one br king suite) is located facing highway. It is a corner room. The construction is of poor quality for noise level experienced. Informed the manager and haven't received much of an attention. Poor customer service, especially to a loyal Marriott Customer! I will have to think about staying here again. Would definitely avoid even number rooms. Maybe will try Fairfield Inn for noise next time. All other amenities are great. Evening reception and morning breakfast are well arranged.
