Nice beverage selection! I ordered the sandwich special. It was a sausage sandwich that reminded me of a sloppy joe but soooo much better! It was delicious and the bread it's on was so fresh and I believe they baked it in house! The salad was awesome! Love the toppings and the way it's dressed! That was a great lunch! I need to try the pizza next!

There's a lot of great pizza in the Vancouver area. It's nice for me to just walk to dinner. This is a casual place where you order at the counter and find your table. We went early, around 5:00 on a Friday. No problem getting a table then! The many offers a lot of pizza options, from gourmet to more traditional. I saw a couple of options that made the decision hard. I opted for the potato prosciutto and my daughter wanted a different flavor so she got the mushroom pizza (I can't remember what it's called). They have beer, wine and cider, in addition to non-alcoholic bevs. I was unfamiliar with the wine options and the person taking orders made a suggestion and let me taste it. That was nice! I had a nice Malbec for $14. I thought that was a bit pricey. The staff were all friendly. It definitely had a friendly neighborhood vibe, which counts with me. The pizza was good and had interesting flavors, both of them. The mushroom one was rich, as they usually are. I enjoyed the salty/sweet combo on the prosciutto potato. The crust was a bit disappointing IMO. Just plain and not very interesting. My favorites are wood-fired and Detroit, for reference. When I ate my leftovers at home, I added a drop of honey. That was good.

We ordered their "go-to" item which is the ribeye steak: 12 full ounces of tasty tender boneless beef served on a bed of mashed potatoes. Accompaniments were a large pickled onion slice & grilled cauliflower & broccoli crowns. We ordered the steak medium but it was cooked more like medium rare. The soup & salad were some of the best openers I've had. And the chocolate mousse dessert did not disappoint. Portions were enormous. So why not 5 stars? The setting while nice, can't compare to other fine dining places that look out on rivers, fields, etc. Here we get views of a busy intersection and a strip mall parking lot. For the prices charge, one would hope for a better setting. And the extreme prices will set most folks back over $100 per diner (assuming full meals, drinks, dessert, tax & gratuities). As initially stated, this restaurant is worth it for special occasions or if cost is not a concern.

I would prefer something a little bit more done. But their steaks definitely do not disappoint. I have been to other steak houses in the Portland area. Roots beats other famous Portland steak houses by their flavor, tenderness, service, atmosphere and portion size. However, their menu items are quite pricey. My steak was nicely cooked and seasoned. The mashed potato and veggies were excellent. They topped the steak with couple pickled onion rings which was quite refreshing. And don't forget the garlic infused butter served with the steak. It was wonderful. I had my wedge salad while my husband had their soup of the day. It was a big salad which Ai appreciate. The blue cheese crumbles and salad dressing was fantastic. The chocolate mousse dessert was a piece of art. It was quite big and can be easily shared with another person. The atmosphere inside was nice and modern in a warm sense. The servers were very attentive. I am not sure what brand of root beer do they serve but it was very good.

The wine here is consistently delicious, thoughtfully curated, and always comes with great recommendations from the friendly, knowledgeable staff. Whether you're catching up with friends or just savoring a quiet glass, it feels comfortable and inviting. Tucked between Hawthorne and Division on SE 50th, the location makes it an easy destination. We've been here a few times now, and it keeps calling us back. A true gem for wine lovers and anyone who enjoys a little warmth with their pour.

The inside is very nicely decorated and the staff are very friendl and accommodating. The weather was unseasonably nice for mid-October so we sat outside at one of their many picnic tables. Despite being close to a busy street, the seating area was quiet and whoever does their garden boxes knows what they're doing. Just lovely. There's a good assortment of wines to try and the person at the counter was very helpful in walking us through them. I will definitely be back.
