Office staff in Kailua are clueless. I showed for my second appt with the provider today, but the office staff asked me why I was there. No notes in their files showed a reason for the appt. I cannot trust this office or this doctor. read more

A definite wake up call happened when I was referred to Dr. Calvin Y Wong, cardiologist last month by my primary care physician. I thought I had a pretty good lifestyle with the marathons and an super endurance that could not be stopped. To make the long story short, my PCP found something in my blood work that could pose a threat to my health if not detected early. And as such, I made the appointment to Dr Calvin Wong @ the Pacific Cardiology LLC to see what was going on with my heart. Maybe too much marathons? Only 52 in 5 years. :-) Dr Calvin Y Wong shares his medical office with Dr. Gregg M Yamada, also a cardiologist. They call their medical practice "Pacific Cardiology LLC". They have a wonderful support staff that greets you when you enter the room. Located at the new medical office building recently built on the corner of Keeaumoku Street and South Beretania Street, it is the newest building on the block that I thought it was a condo - at first. The waiting room was really nice, with classical music playing within the room. It was a mellow and pleasant place to be in, especially if you are nervous about the experience. It was my first experience and it was good overall. After filling out the medical paperwork, showing my ID, and insurance card, I was taken to an examination room, where a medical assistant took my BP and performed an EKG. After that, I waited for Dr. Wong for the consultation and the results. Dr Wong was very much professional and I enjoyed my visit, even though I had expected different results in the results. He explained what he thought I may have, while we exchanged my confidential medical history, so he can input it on his computer. All in all, it was a good experience here at Pacific Cardiology LLC and I will need to come back here anyway to follow through with the tests that he has prescribed to me. Hoping for the best. It's just disheartening to be in this place, when I seem to take too good of a care of myself these last few years. Maybe I am missing something. Support local! A+ read more

Was referred to Dr. Wong from my primary physician due to concerns he had from tests I had taken. After getting an Ekg, Dr. Wong explained the results and asked me of any other concerns I may have. He listened patiently and not once did I ever feel rushed. Will need to come back for echocardiogram and stress test. I definitely would recommend Dr. Wong for those of you who are in search for a good cardiologist. The front office staff needs some improvement though. They are not very pleasant and from what I read from previous reviews they are interns and it truly shows. Thank goodness I only had to interact with them briefly. read more

This is the worst cardiologist. Don't go this doctor. I and father went to him for many years. I had the genetic heart issue. Before I got pregnant, I asked him if it was fine to get pregnant twice. He said fine, but without having me to take the stress test. Unfortunately, I lost the baby twice. My OB doctor recommended me to go other cardiologist. I got another two cardiologists. Both of them told me this is dangerous for me. I should have the open heart surgery done and fix the valve. Same as my father, he went to him for so many years. I helped him to find the other cardiologist. The cardiologist just told my father he had the heart issue. read more

Dr Wong doesnt listen and makes knee jerk judgements before I could finish answering his questions. For some reason he actually got mad at me for aking him a question which made the whole experience very uncomfortable. He should retire asap. read more

I was recently referred to Dr Wong and was very impressed with the staff and doctor. They've tried to help me in every way with my insurance and medicine. Dr Wong is not only trying to make things better for you but also trying to find out what made things go wrong. Wouldn't you want to know the cause so you can prevent the outcome? I honestly cannot figure out where the bad reviews are coming from!! I was referred to Dr. Wong by my primary Dr. His office staff was outstanding on every visit ( 4 ). First visit was a consult to talk about my referral and do a medical history. Dr Wongs assistant was competent, clear and well spoken. The Dr. came in at the end of the question and answer period ....went through the info and told her to schedule me for both a sonogram and stress test. It's a little awkward as a women because with all the cords for each test you go topless with a paper cover up, however the tech (female) was so nice! She explained everything to me and did a great job helping me stay covered. On my original visit I received not only a reminder for when my follow up appointments would be but also instructions on what to do and wear! For example the day of my stress test, I was told to wear shoes for the treadmill as well as a two piece outfit so I could easily remove my top. All these little things that help you to prepare make you more confident in their office and Dr. Wong's experience. I highly recommend this office and am so glad I was referred to Dr. Wong. read more

I took my grandmother to see Dr. Wong and I have never encountered such an unprofessional "doctor" in my life. This guy played a game of detective the entire time and asked my grandmother questions she clearly had no answers to and got upset about it. How should she remember when she first saw symptoms of an infection almost ten years ago? He cussed several times and brought politics into the conversation which was absolutely uncalled for. He calls himself the best doctor which is a load of garbage, and he says that only certain doctors that he agrees with are the only trustworthy ones. He also talked down upon his nurse in front of us and is just overall so unprofessional. read more

Aloha All, If you're reading this I hope it was by chance and not that you have to have your heart checked out. I have to admit...after reading the other reviews you will see it is spot on. I visited Pacific Cardiology two years ago for the Echocardiogram, the Stress Echocardiogram and the Nuclear X-Rays. Thank God they all came out good. They used to be located in the new building on the corner of Beretania and Keeaumoku. The offices were very spacious and very new. It was a really nice place and I thought it was well run. I guess they moved out and into a tiny little place now and they are packed in like sardines. About a week before my appointment, I received a call from their office saying that I have an outstanding bill from the first visit. They said I owed them about $400. I never received a billing from them and was quite shocked on the amount. I asked if that was after insurance and they assured me that the procedures that I had done previously were very expensive and this was after insurance. I explained that I never received a bill from them and why are they only telling me now, years later and a week before my appointment. They made it seem like they would not see me unless I paid off the old debt. I was turned off already. I went for my next visit to this tiny little office that must've had about 8 people sitting all cramped together in a small reception area. I don't understand why they didn't have office phones and were all talking on cellular phones. It seemed really un-professional. There was a nice young woman that took me into a room to take my vitals, ask me questions and take a EKG. Then I was asked to sit outside in the waiting room to see the doctor. After meeting with the doctor, it was quite evident he does not like Obamacare. There was no doubt in my mind he doesn't like Obamacare. We talked for a bit where he asked a bunch of questions and it was set that he wanted me to return for a Echocardiogram and a Stress Echocardiogram. The doctor seems really nice and I appreciate his honesty but I really wish his office staff would be better. It was so bad I told myself...there has to be another outfit that does this type of work. Accompanied my mother for my first time on her followup review from her EKG. The only thing the doctor could talk about was how great he is. At the same time correcting his medical tech on how to read his notes. At no time reviewing my mother's overall heart condition. A week later my mom had to go to ER due to a heart condition. Rude! Rude! Rude! What a shame that the office staff has no clue about how to treat people. Dr. Wong may be highly recommended, but there is no access to him as his staff who answers the phone is negative, lazy and unprofessional. read more
