Do not take your car to this business I was told my vehicle need inner and outlet tire rods front axle suspension and 4 new tires and wheel alignment which cost me 2300 to get fix that same week I return tell them my car alignment was not right,so they came they corrected now Im back once again regarding wheel alignment,now there telling me I need struts, and he was going rotated my tire and I said why when I only them on for a week. Now I get in my car and it won't start had no.problem starting it up?????? And there was another younglady returning her car for some work they was suppose to do,and now there tell her she needs to some more work done. After seeing all the negative reviews on Yelp, I became concerned after I took my vehicle in for a repair to this place. The repair shop fixed a couple of control arms, struts and rewired my power windows. I don't appreciate being charged $150 for a simple $15 AC recharge, but I guess that's the cost of doing business and not knowing better. After a friend looked over the repairs He said Cals charged as much as the dealer with their mechanic billing me $130 an hour . So next time I'll DEFINITELY be going to a Chrysler dealer. I still had a problem with my power windows that owner Nick blew off, but they did repair it properly the next morning. Just go to the dealer. It's not worth going here. read more

Disappointing Experience at Cal's Auto Repair Shop. They may get your car running but they will also be sure to charge you out of this world pricing. For 5 Ground Wires & An Used Throttle Body that wasn't needed they charged me $1327. I recently visited Cal's Auto Repair Shop and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. I went in for an electrical issue which turned out to be 5 ground wires and to my dismay, they charged me $375 for a used throttle body that, upon further inspection, wasn't necessary. I took the used throttle body they put on off and put my original throttle body back onto the vehicle. My vehicle is running even better with its original throttle body than it was with the used one they placed on the car. I attempted to return the throttle body seeing as this place of business is adorned with signs claiming I could return the part. They gave me a numerous amount of misleading responses. They said the new ground wires would burn out because of an improper functioning throttle body. They told me my vehicle wouldn't work properly because the throttle body that was originally on my vehicle needed to be relearn. They told me I couldn't return the part because I used the finance company. I called the finance company and they said all the auto shop would have to do is call them and let them know that I return the part and they would adjust accordingly so I can continue my payments. They said they couldn't refund labor...I never asked them to do that. I just wanted the refund for the used throttle body that I didn't need. They then told me I couldn't return it because it was a used part and they can't resale the used part. "But you sold it to me..." The man Sam that worked on my vehicle said I should just be grateful they got my vehicle running because it had been to other shops and they didn't have the tools to show them which ground wires needed to be replaced. All I wanted them to do was remove the $375 for the used throttle body that isn't needed. I paid $332 for brand new throttle body. The way they price gouge is insane. Why would you just take advantage of someone like that? Are there no honest mechanic shops? If they wanted to charge me for something additional they could have fixed the break booster that was revealed needing to be repaired. The day I picked up my vehicle I went to the the oil change place and the gentleman there noticed the sound my vehicle was making notified me that he was pretty sure my vehicle had a vacuum leakage that was confirmed true by another mechanic. This misleading information and overcharging have left me questioning the integrity of their business practices. I hope others are spared from such an unpleasant encounter. I will be contacting the BBB and Attorney General to get this issue resolved. read more

And 4,500 dollars later my car runs terrible. I picked it back up on 3-14-2024 drove it and my radiation leak all of the antifreeze out of it and they also suppose had the coolant lines as well . I don't recommend this place my husband had me take his 2016 Yukon XL to them to be diagnosed for the engine light and white smoke coming from the exhaust they charged us $300 to diagnose it and then told him he needed a new motor $9500 or used $8500 took it to the dealership and all it needed was lifters on the left side $3000 $99 diagnostics so they really was going to charge us all that money to replace a motor that doesn't need to be replaced read more

I chose the one star as I had to pick one to continue and unfortunately they failed to add a negative star option which in my case would have been negative 10! Such complete bandits and grifter's. Not sure but I believe there was a change in ownership. The person I used to deal with ( who was always honest and fair) is no longer there. I own a masonry company and took all my work trucks to them for maintenance and repairs. Today I don't trust them to check the air in my tires as they most certainly would tell me that I needed a transmission, and spank the he'll outta the price! They did repairs to one of our vehicles at a cost of $5500.00, only to try and say some months later that they needed the same repairs again. Cal's needs to keep better records on the scandalous lies they put out. I took my 1997 Chevy suburban to cals auto repair and towing to get work done on it, he priced me at 1500 for my exhaust, tune up, head replacement, replacing my headers which I bought the day before, heat wrap my wires, he only did my exhaust and my headers, for 1575$. I only had good reviews for cal! They were the only people fixing my car because I have an older car I trusted their fast service. But this probably is their 3rd time working on my car (nobody else has touched anything but my brakes) and now my car stalls off at lights , my automatic start DOESNT WORK AT ALL. And I read the reviews a few people are having the same issue as me ??!! I called and the guy on the phone who fixed my car I believe told me "that's not true" when I told him about the yelp reviews of customers complaining about the literal same thing as me. Car turns off now randomly. My car never did that. NOT ONCE. Mind you I went there for POWER STEERING . He called me telling me it was $1500 because of other tie rods etc ?? I had my truck towed to Cal's Auto Tech, between 1-2:30 PM on Friday, February 10, 2012. On February 3, Saturday around 1:30 PM, a rep from Cal's Auto called to tell me that the transmission needed to be repaired. I called the shop Monday February 13 between 12-1:130 PM to tell them that I would be bringing a deposit on Friday, February 10. I took them $500 on February 10 , Invoice #13159, as a deposit. I was told them the car would be ready on Thursday, or Friday of the following week. I called on Thursday between 11-12:30 PM, I was told it would be ready on Saturday. Today is Saturday, February 18, 4:17 PM. I arrived at Cal's Auto at 2:46 PM. I called before I left to walk to the repair shop and they said it would be ready. I paid $800, cash, Invoice #13159. After sitting in the waiting room until 3:42:PM, I was told that the mechanic was taking it out to test it. A few minutes later, I was handing the cell phone by the person at the front desk, and I was told that I could not take the car because it needs a "spindel." Without it I could not tell what gear the truck is in.I am not pleased. I have paid the full balance and I have no car. I was told by "Cal" that I had to wait until Monday. This was not the set date of delivery, and I would not have paid a repair shop in cash, if I was not going to get a truck as promised. This is not acceptable. That type of issue with a part is something that a CERTIFIED MECHANIC AND REPAIR SHOP WOULD KNOW IMMEDIATELY! read more

I would absolutely give zero stars if I could. This place is a rip off! I asked to have all 4 brakes and rotors replaced...As they were doing the work they called me and said you need a brake line and 1 caliper pen. The total cost came up to a little over $500. This was 11/4/2021. The same day I picked up the car, I noticed that the brakes were still grinding and making loud noise, so before me driving off the lot they took the car back in the repair shop did something and gave me the car back. Even though the grinding and noise was gone, within the same week I noticed that the brakes were not stopping properly nor did I feel like it had stopping power like new brakes would. To this day 4/4/2022, they claim that it's because I need lower control arms and struts!! I called Kia for second opinion and they said the suspension repairs needed has nothing to do with my brake issue. Cal's refuse to fix the problem. DO NOT GO TO CAL's Auto Repair. They will rip you off! They just want the money. Every time I ask for whoever Cal is... I believe it's the Chaldean guy at the front desk with dark hair who keeps lying about where Cal is. I went here after referred by both a family member and neighbor who owns Keystone Auto parts in eastpointe.. They over inflated my new tires to seat the bead, not correct. They give me a laundry list of things wrong with my car, for me to buy the parts from my neighbor.. Go to do the work with my uncle who owns Pats Carb in Detroit (with professional help) to find out that I did not need more than half the parts I got; in fact, there were other things not noted that needed replacement.. I go back.. Literally only two days later, have the slip signed by their tech; and he doesn't remember me, my car.. Anything... ??? Yea because you were completely wrong in your diagnosis. They lose lug nuts/forget to put them on.. They over tighten lugs, stripped a few, causing them to snap - causing me to have to get new hubs on a 2010. When replacing my tires - which have a sensor in my valve stem, they broke my stem on one wheel and nearly ripped another in half.. Those are verrrry expensive pieces just man handled and obnoxiously and forcefully removed causing excessive damage that they claim they didn't do!?!???? I have had it with this place I have tried time and time again... Oh! I bought brand new tires, get a blow out a week later and they can't help with warranty or anything! A1 assholes Don't be fooled by the friendly demeanor; it's so fake.. They are the worst. I had a bad motor mount, I could feel/sense it - I tell them to look into it - no it's good! I said no way, I can feel it - I show them the vibrations and ask to recheck twice! For them to come back and say yea, you need a new motor mount..... I TOLD YOU THIS! clueless... Went in to fix my A/C in my truck. Before they started working on it I informed them I was unsure if there were any leaks in my valves. So they charged me 90 bucks for a recharge which was hella pricey but I needed it fixed so I payed because I was already there. Their card machine was down but there is a ATM in there. (A little suspicious to me).so I paid in cash. They then filled my truck, and I was on my way. I stopped at a nearby store and then started driving home and it was back blowing hot air. When I return to let them know it's blowing hot air. They tell me that there must be a leak and they can't refund me because "it's a gas and they can't insure that." I let them know that it makes no sense to recharge it without know whether or not there is a leak. They later tell me to come back tomorrow to try to fix it and they will charge me to seal the holes. I try for the next two days and they keep giving me the run around and tell me tomorrow each day because they are swamped with cars. I call and ask for a refund but they refuse at all cost. So after about 3-5 minutes of arguing. I gave up. Now I'm out 90 bucks and still have to go find some place to fix my A/C. NEVER GO HERE, THEY ARE RIP OFFS AND ONLY WANT YOUR MONEY. GO SOMEWHERE THAT CARES ABOUT YOU AS A CUSTOMER. read more

My best friend found this place a couple months back and told about his repairs and the prices. I asked my other best friend who is a mechanic way up north and he said they were fair prices. The very next day my Ford Focus broke the Wheel assembly 2 miles from my house. Cal came out and towed it to the shop for free. I rented a car for the next day. At the end of the next day my car was done! They told me what was wrong before they fixed it.....I asked my mechanic friend and he told me the price was fair and on target. I read the reviews and checked out the people who gave 1 Star reviews and each person who gave them did not seem to with it. I AM GLAD TO HAVE FOUND THIS PLACE AND I WILL BE BACK. read more

Terrible shop. Had "tune-up" (spark plugs/wires) done. 5 minutes after leaving, a noise got worse and worse. Brought it back to find out they didn't tighten the spark plugs well enough...uh...what? Isn't this the most basic task? A few months later, my car died and auto saavy friends thought it might be (can't recall Dx, but a very expensive fix). A "backyard mechanic" neighbor determined all it was was a faulty spark plug job. Those idiots at Cal's didn't use the right spark plugs for my vehicle and didn't do the right amount of spacing on the metal tip. All this was Auto Mechanics 101, but Cal's did a deplorable job. When I called the owner, insisting on a reimbursement for the work they didn't properly do, I was told all they'd do is send my spark plugs back to the manufacturer and I'd get reimbursed anything the manufacturer was willing to give. So, you take your car in to Cal's, they don't do a proper job, and it'll cost you double what you paid in order to have their half-assed work corrected. And, they also replaced an oil pan and I was assured by them that they automatically do an oil change with it. My "backyard mechanic" said there was almost no oil in the engine (I'd only driven MAYBE 300 miles since Cal's job) and worse, he said it looked like the oil that still existed had well over the 5000 miles since the last oil change. I'm guessing Cal's simply reused the oil that was in the original oil pan and didn't even bother to top it off. RUN, DON'T WALK AWAY FROM THIS HORRIBLE SHOP. I will also be filing a complaint with the BBB and, I'm looking into "auto mechanic malpractice" suit, too. We can sue doctors and lawyers, why not mechanics? Had my neighbor not checked the oil, my engine would have been irreparably damaged since I wouldn't have checked it because I religiously get oil changes at 5000 miles and, with a new oil pan, there's no chance of an oil leak, making me have to regularly check the oil. read more
