If you're looking for an honest company, CalPro is not it. I held off on writing this review because I wanted to give the company the opportunity to make the situation right. After four days of back and forth, it's clear they have no intention of taking accountability for what I believe was a significant oversight during our home inspection. We hired CalPro to perform our home, sewer, and pest inspections before purchasing our home. After closing, we began noticing a burning smell coming from the electrical panel outside. I had four different electrical companies inspect it, and every one of them immediately said the panel needs to be replaced. They explained that it is a Zinsco panel, which is widely known in the electrical and insurance industries for its safety concerns and is often considered uninsurable or in need of replacement. When I reviewed our home inspection report, I was surprised to find there was no mention that the electrical panel was a Zinsco panel. The report included photos of the panel but no notation identifying it or recommending further evaluation or replacement. Although I wasn't able to be present for the entire inspection, my realtor was. During the inspection, the inspector identified the panel as Zinsco and told my realtor that because the breakers had been updated, it wasn't a safety concern. When we later questioned why the report didn't mention the panel, he repeated the same explanation during a phone call and suggested the electricians were simply trying to sell us a new panel. Had the report identified the panel and its potential implications, I would have had the opportunity to negotiate with the sellers before closing. Instead, I'm now facing an unexpected $5,000 expense. I contacted CalPro to give them the opportunity to address the situation. Their response was that the inspector was unaware the panel was a Zinsco panel. That directly conflicts with what my realtor was told during both the inspection and the follow-up phone call. Rather than acknowledging the discrepancy or investigating what happened, the company stood by that explanation. I also forwarded the email correspondence to the owner. The office staff told me she was "aware of the issue" but "not always available by email." Everyone makes mistakes. What separates a good company from a bad one is how they handle them. Unfortunately, based on my experience, CalPro chose to deny responsibility instead of addressing a serious issue that has left us with a substantial unexpected expense. Since CalPro has chosen not to take responsibility for this issue, I am now being forced to spend additional time and money to resolve it through the court system. read more

When we moved into our current home, I noticed some black spots on our bathroom ceiling. I immediately called Cal Pro and they said that they could do a mold test that would tell us what kind of mold it was. We paid $350 for this service. The test results came back that it wasn't mold... We thought that was weird but moved on to other things we needed to do. Unfortunately now that some time has passed we have realized that this actually IS indeed mold and now our mold issue has grown. It is frustrating knowing that it was definitely mold on our ceiling when we got it tested and we are now going to have to do expensive mold remediation services because the test results were incorrect. We called Cal Pro to see if they would do a courtesy retest of the area (since the original test was incorrect and we still don't know what kind of mold this is). They said that they are only responsible for swabbing the areas and they don't actually test the swabs and that if we have any issues we need to contact the company that actually did the testing. This other company is on the East Coast and I have not been able to get a hold of them yet. We are very unhappy with our experience using Cal Pro. I would not recommend them for anyone needing mold testing. read more

I was VERY HAPPY with the super quick turnaround for the Mold Test they performed. It can take up to 3 days and I got it back within 24 hours. I'm super happy to see that is was NOT Mold but only Mildew. The report is gold when it comes to tenants complaints. Protect yourself and get a Mold Test! This is the 3rd time I've used them. Josh did a very thorough job in a very timely manner. He showed up on time (was even a few minutes early), took lots of photos, and was very observant of all details. The finished report was all inclusive and easy to understand. This inspection was done on a just built new home. My only regret is I didn't ask for this inspection by CalPro at an earlier point - say when framing on the construction had been completed. I called CalPro Inspection Group to provide wood rot repair at my rental property. Danielle was very responsive and scheduled us for 1 week later. Both Doug and Dan came out and was very professional and courteous. They even painted the window trims and door trim after they primed the areas as long as I provided the paint. This was supposed to be a one day job to complete all windows and door frame, but took longer as some window trim removal took longer. They cam back the next day without hesitation and completed the work. They did a great job cleaning everything up at the end of the job as well.
