I returned about 10 minutes later and she was in her car leaving the lobby unattended over the 4th of July weekend. It was not staffed very often. The room was not clean. Luckily we bring our own slippers as the tile floor was so very sticky it was disgusting. We were only given 2 hangers. I had to borrow some from my sister from her home! However my adult children in 2 other rooms had 4! The mattress was very uncomfortable. I woke up with my bones aching. The only redeeming quality of this place was its proximity to my sister's home and we could walk there as parking was tight everywhere for the holiday weekend.

I found the front desk service to be absolutely lovely, and despite a few bumps on checking in, was delighted with the treatment I received. The room was clean and well appointed. Nice appliances beyond what you might expect. The room has a Keurig coffee maker, a fridge and microwave, an iron and ironing board, even a blow dryer! Though it may appear from the outside to be your typical motel, it is anything but. Good air conditioning and clean fresh bedding were well appreciated. There's a bar and grill right next door with good food, willing to make up carry out orders if you prefer to eat in your room. Overall, I recommend Rumorz, it's a perfect vacation spot in a very charming lake community.

The common areas are incredible. Just oozing with charm and character. If you're a FLW fan, this is Mecca. So much Prairie Style architecture in this town. So lovely. The staff is fantastic here. We saw the sign outside for tours and were lucky enough to get on their 1pm Sunday tour - $15/ person. There were just four of us on the tour. Our tour guide, Curt, did an excellent job giving us the history of the building, the fantastic effort to save it and turn it into a hotel, and other details of this architectural masterpiece. Kudos to the dedicated folks in Mason City who saved this gem from the wrecking ball. A must see for FLW fans.
