As a real estate developer and general contractor, I've worked with countless contractors and vendors across Southern California. I've seen the full spectrum--the good, the bad, and everything in between--and there isn't a component of a home I haven't rebuilt or replaced multiple times across various projects. I don't give recommendations lightly. California Decking and Waterproofing was excellent to work with from start to finish. Their team was punctual, reliable, and professional, and the quality of their work speaks for itself. The deck they rebuilt is significantly better than the original construction, and the warranty provides real peace of mind. We interviewed four different companies before making a decision, and I'm confident we chose the right one. I would not hesitate to recommend California Decking and Waterproofing. read more

Victor was there from start to finish, and I had a great experience working with this company. They waterproofed six balconies for me and kept me updated with photos throughout the entire process, which I really appreciated. What stood out most was their professionalism and honesty--they never tried to upcharge or renegotiate the price at any point. I also had tenants on the property during the work and received zero complaints, which says a lot about how respectfully and professionally they operated. Technically, it hasn't rained yet, so I can't fully speak to the long-term performance--but from what I've seen so far, the work looks solid and well done. On top of that, they offer a strong warranty, which gives extra peace of mind. If you need waterproofing done, don't overthink it--just go with Victor. read more

I hired California Decking & Waterproofing for a deck waterproofing project after experiencing serious water leakage. There is a living space directly under the deck, so the leaks were a major concern. The project started around December 15, and shortly after- starting December 25 - we had record-breaking rainfall in SoCal. Even before the entire project was fully completed, the team had already prepared and secured the waterproofing properly, and despite more than 10 days of continuous rain, there was no further water damage at all. That alone gave me a lot of confidence in their work. Once the rain stopped, they completed the deck with a beautiful finish. The quality of work and attention to detail were excellent throughout the process. I highly recommend this company, especially Marcus, Victor and Carlos, who were the field crew on my project. Professional, reliable, and high-quality workmanship from start to finish. read more

I did not have a great experience with this company unfortunately. While we were in escrow on a property, Carlos came out to give an estimate for us on replacing failed waterproofing along with ripping out rotted wood (from the failed waterproofing proofing) and replacing some boards on the deck. I had to follow up with Victor several times as his estimated time to deliver the quote kept changing. At one point, he asked me if I wanted him to pull over on the side of the road to send it to me; this was probably my 4th or 5th time talking to him. I understand how busy they are but they knew we had a very narrow window for getting the estimate in hand due to our inspection contingency with escrow. Anyway, finally got their quote and it came in at 2.5x the cost of other companies for comparable scope of work. I guess that's their way of saying they don't want our business! Regardless, not the way I want to be treated as a prospective customer. 2 stars because Carlos was super knowledgeable and if he had been our only interaction, this may have turned out differently. read more

I was in construction for fifty years, now retired for 20, and as I told the crew, I have worked with good, great and excellent subcontractors, but they, and their work is amazing, a real rarity. Professional, timely and careful to pay attention to all the necessary details. We had an early miscommunication which happens on occasion. With no questions asked they corrected the problem immediately and forged ahead. Frankly I was stunned! You just never come across such service. I have had problems with this particular portion of my deck for years leaking. This will be the third time it has been relaid and I'm positive it won't leak for years to come, because their "AL System By Life Deck" is like nothing I've ever seen before used on my deck. A cementitious waterproofing system which is comprised of several reduntant layers. Check out Life Deck's YouTube channel and pay a visit to California Decking offices, it's worth it. The point is I am incredibly impressed all around. Service, quality, and a bunch of other adjectives, besides them being truly friendly to work with. It doesn't get any better than this. I'll be sure to come back here and add a comment at some time in the "very distant" future when and if it ever leaks, I imagine many years from now. read more

Excellent work and extremely punctual. Shirley in the office is really helpful, and Carlos was very knowledgable. There was an issue with a door pan they installed which slowed down the door installation, but as soon as they were made aware of the issue they rectified it. Some advice to anyone needing a waterproofer: give plenty of lead time before you need the work done. These guys really made an effort to get us in during their busiest season, but waterproofing requires multiple visits. Would definitely call again. read more

We are very pleased with the work done by California Decking & Waterproofing. They are not inexpensive but you get what you pay for. The two men working on the project were punctual and extremely hard working. They took great care to do the job right and the newly resurfaced deck turned out beautiful. We would definitely hire them again. Everyone was very friendly ( Victor, Sherly, Carlos and helper thank you for your good work and pleasant attitudes) and tried hard to make the experience a good one. Great job!!! read more

Victor and his crews did a great job with a deck waterproofing and leak mitigation at my house (LA single family residential). They kept there promises and kept things close to the original quote as far as cost. There works were on time, the project completed on schedule, and the work was good quality. There was an issue with a door threshold but Victor took responsibility and remedied the issue quickly. I'd recommend this company for future projects. read more

California Decking put in a Desert Crete deck and install iron railing for me in winter 2018. It was a $15k job. They are experienced. They do hundreds of deck a year. Pro: - Victor and his crew was nice to get along with. - I needed to replace railings as well. Cal deck was the only who offered it. - The first time we picked a color that turned out too dark. Victor repainted for me free of charge. - After 3 years the deck showed some cracks. I am sure they did everything right the first time as I saw every steps. Maybe my deck / house has settlement or vibration issue. Victor came out and offered to fix it as part of the warranty: skim coat and fiber glass the whole deck again rather than a spot fix. Deck leaked after 3 years. The deck overlaps old house and new extension so maybe due to house movement. Warranty is 8 years. Victor came out and fixed it for me. read more

Hands down to some of the best people I've worked with for the many projects that come with home ownership. After last December's once in a century storm, our veranda's patch up job from the previous owners didn't hold up and leaked into the room below. So we had our deck evaluated and concluded that it needed to be demolished down to the plywood and redone. So, the journey of researching begins with cost comparison and different types of decking. After comparing multiple construction companies and decking companies, California Decking met our price point. Another thing that I absolutely loved hiring a decking company versus a construction company is the warranty and the fact that this is their specialty. From the beginning of the project with demolition all the way to the last day, they were extremely professional and efficient with the entire process. They met and exceeded our expectations for the quality of work. I'd definitely recommend them to our friends and families. read more

California Decking and Waterproofing quoted a reasonable price to have 2 of our rooftop decks completely resurfaced with a 5 year warranty. I knew I was choosing the right company when they were booked 3 months out before they could slot me in. Their work looks impeccable. The team was quick and efficient and did both decks in a week, started Monday, finished Friday. Will update my review in 6 months to speak toward the waterproofing aspect of the resurfacing (the reason we did the project). read more

Victor and his crew did the decking on my newly built house FIVE YEARS ago. Since it was done, it has not leaked, puckered or cracked. It has been tested by time and rain -- lots of rain, recently. This is probably the worst coustemer service u can get i was schedule appointment with this company in monday to Thursday 10 am Nobody show up or calling to say samthing like sorry we gonna need to reschedule. I like the work they did and I would use them again. Great job and on time as well as clean up when they finished.

Good waterproofing company that does the job at a reasonable competitive price however, like any company that uses plaster, stucco coating materials they always leave a residue on adjacent areas that will not come off once the material dries. Unfortunately I have to give them only 4 stars instead of five for failing to complete the material clean up that left my driveway stained. They could of easily rinsed down the driveway before the material dried. So the bottom line is make sure every thing is rinsed and cleaned before they leave... read more

Suzie Q's Fun Facts: Even once wood has been waterproofed, it still has to be reconditioned periodically in order to avoid weathering and cracking. =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~ I had already obtained one quote from a Yelp vendor to strip and weatherproof my wood siding and fences. But I wanted to get a second opinion, since the first estimate seemed kinda high to me. Enter California Decking & Waterproofing. I made an appointment to have Victor come out to give me an estimate on a Saturday morning. When he didn't show (with no contact from Victor), I called the main line (reaching the voicemail), and found the e-mail address, and sent an e-mail. I finally received a response from Victor: "I really apologize for today. I had a family emergency and could not call you." Although I found it fishy that Victor couldn't even text me to say "I had an emergency and will be late or have to reschedule," and just no-showed instead, I decided to let it go. Victor agreed to come by the next day - Sunday - which was his "off" day, to prepare to provide an estimate. While Victor did show up the next day, I never received an estimate from Victor. I even called and left a voicemail asking for the status about a week later, but never received any response. After first "no showing" without even calling, you'd think Victor would have gone out of his way to send an estimate promptly. The fact that he didn't ever bother to send one is shocking. I guess he doesn't need the business? (If not, why did he waste my time at all?) In a word: Avoid. read more

Had a water leak back in December. I was told that the water leak is coming from my balcony. I called up Victor to have him inspect it. He has his team take a look and told me that I needed to take part the balcony and install the a "waterproofing system". I told him ok I paid him close to $2000 for the down payment they wanted in advance. At this point , I thought ok they will fix it and I don't have to worry about it. They guys came and did the balcony. I paid the remainder $3000. I asked him what is the warranty if there is still a water leak? He says 8 years and not to worry. March comes around and it's raining heavily. Water was still from the balcony and I called up Victor and told him it's still leaking. Can you please take a look at it. He says we have to wait till the rain stops and we will take a look. I told him to call me so that I can get this fixed soon. I never got a call back from him. I called the customer service and says the leak is not from the balcony. I told them you inspected it and that you should go by your work. I am cheated out $5000. I was lied to by Victor about the waterproofing. I felt like they did a shoty job and just wanted to take the money and no follow up. They are liars and I highly do not recommend there service go elsewhere and I am reporting them to BBB about this. read more

I needed my rooftop deck repaired and waterproofed due to a leak in my ceiling from an unidentifiable crack, and this company got the job done for me. I appreciated the quick response time. Carlos came out to give an estimate a few days after the initial phone call and his crew got the job done the next day, right before rainy season. Last month i discovered a leak in the house during a rainfall. I didn't want to risk serious water damage so I looked up for help on yelp and found California Decking and Waterproofing. After seeing all the high reviews, I decided to request a quote on Yelp and was surprised when they responded within 10 min. We had a conversation about an hour, and I was real specific about what I wanted and they also assured be nothing would be damaged. After getting a mutual quote, we made up a time for them to show up! I was really excited, cause I was waiting forever for someone to fix this leak. They came by and explained to me how they were going to fix it etc. Even though i asked so then many Questions, they were so patient with me! I really want to give a shout out to this company. We have had a leaky deck above our dining area for years. We have had multiple people and contractors try to fix it and no one was successful. The last contractor wanted over $15,000 to try to fix the problem and gave me no guarantee. So we did not do that. I finally found this company from yelp. They were easy to work with. I really wasn't sure if they could help for the very reasonable price, it was worth a try. Well, the waterproofing works great and best of all, we have no leaks! It looks great and they had lots of colors to choose from. I couldn't have asked for anything more. I waited a long time to write a review because I needed to wait for heavy rains. Yes, all the other five star reviews on Yelp for this company are correct!! I found California Decking & Waterproofing from reading other Yelp reviews, and owe the prior reviewers a debt of gratitude. Victor was one of three vendors I called for a quote, and Victor was far and above the best of all of them. Not only was his price incredibly reasonable, but he provided a detailed quote with two scenarios for best and worst case, as well as providing two of the nicest, most professional, hardest working, and conscientious people I've met in LA! Victor and Diego did such a remarkable job with the deck, were so thoughtful and considerate of our home while the work was performed, and even painted the stucco and surrounding walls to ensure it all looked beautiful. One word - OUTSTANDING!!! The patio where the tools, concrete, paint, and other supplies were stored is cleaner than when they started the work! If you live in So Cal and have a roof deck that has not been treated in the last 8 - 10 years, you seriously need to call Victor. The damage to our deck was beyond what I thought it would be, and our last treatment was 5 years ago. Sadly, the prior decking company did not do nearly the amount of work needed for the amount paid. Fortunately, I found Victor due to the other glowing Yelp reviews which -along with Mario and Diego - he has earned and deserves. Thank you all at California Decking & Waterproofing for a truly wonderful experience!! read more

I was totally frustrated about my leaking deck. Nothing seemed to work. Whoever O approached to fix this long term continuous Problem, wanted to charge me a lot. Had a great experience with Victor. His bid was ~25% lower than our other bids, and he gave us more confidence in skills and expertise than one of the other bidders. We knew a portion of the deck had to be rebuilt, and his team "just took care of it" even though the damage extended a little farther than originally thought (at no additional cost). Showed up on time, got the work done. He even called the day the final coat was supposed to go on and suggested we push a day since it was supposed to rain and he didn't want the final seal coat to do anything strange. I appreciated his concern that the job was done correctly and to my satisfaction. read more

We needed a patio over our garages to be waterproofed and repainted. Victor came out promptly to give me an estimate. He went over the parameters of the work needed without the over-explaining and scare tactics used by another Yelp-listed waterproofing company representative.
