7/26/25 - I returned here because I enjoyed my combination meal of a taco & enchilada about a month ago; my first time visit. But this time not so much!!!! I wanted to try their steak burrito. Well, it wasn't good, the meat was tender but dry and no seasoning. It had little to no sour cream or guacamole. Just blah!!!! I brought my grandson along so he could rate it and tell his uncle how he liked it!! His burrito was looking good to me, he ordered shrimp. It had the right amount of good things in his: fresh stir fried onions, bell peppers, sour cream & guacamole. The cheese was oozing out and he said it was too hot to hold. Towards the middle everything fell out of his burrito & he had to go get a fork. I was happy he would have a good report for his great-uncle. Like I said in my last review I was referred here by my middle brother, only he goes to the one in Sacramento. We both had the pineapple water for our beverage. We were the only ones in the restaurant. One man walked in & ordered, three cars went through the drive-thru. It was a very slow evening. The cashier was very pleasant, she let my grandson sample their juices before he ordered. The place was very clean, not a thing on the floor or any of the tables. Unfortunately, for this visit I would have to give it three ( 3 ) stars. Maybe it was the cook, I don't know, it was almost as bad as some frozen burritos. read more

Food was alright, the fries wore small size compared to other places where I had bought them before and wore not that hot, really, service was slow and there was hardly any people on drive true or inside the restaurant for them to be taking a long time on giving us the food almost cold. The ambiance was cool, I kinda liked it being alone. No flies and it looked very clean to me. I would try it again tho. read more

We always see this location when we're getting onto the freeway and we finally stopped in the other day. I'm glad we did. We tried the signature California burrito and the rolled tacos. The rolled tacos are similar to taquitos or small flautas. I chose chicken and they were crispy and yummy and they had lots of toppings. The burrito was also very good for the price. They have all sorts of deals posted up on the windows outside (see check in pic) that include their daily specials like Taco Tuesday. We are planning to come back next Sunday for the $2 crunchy tacos and this will most likely be a regular stop for us now because the food was good and their prices are very affordable. Plus, like I said they are right off the freeway so the location is convenient. I would recommend giving them a try if you haven't already. read more

It really pains me to do this. I wanted to have a good experience when I arrived here for a dine in lunch. I order food through the drive thru quite often and also delivery and I can honestly say I have had for the most part only positive things to say. I mean after all I do keep coming back. I believe I still will be coming back because their food is pretty good. Today when I arrived I was surprised to see there wasn't a salsa bar and the drink station is out of order that's in the dining room. One of the things I liked about this chain of restaurants is that there is a salsa bar that has salsa I can actually enjoy. Usually the salsas are too hot for me. But at this location if you want the salsa that is usually free at the other locations you have to pay for it. Chips also. I'm used to chips coming with the meal if eating in the dining room. There's no free chips or salsa bar. That really is disappointing. I started writing this review a few weeks ago and didn't finish it then so today I'm going to finish it because I'm visiting the same location again. Unfortunately the same compliant I had a few weeks ago I have again today. I was hoping maybe it was just an off day but it wasn't because today I had the same issues with the girl working the cash register. (The issues I'm having is with way the restaurant does things differently then other locations and the cashier is rude.) Let me 1st make sure it's clear that the food is still good. I really like it, which is why it is disappointing that I have to write this review. If only the young girl who works the counter and drive thru had better customer service skills. read more

01-15-2025 On a little road trip and searched Yelp for area restaurants. This one came up and it was a four star. Wow you guys in Lodi have low standards for authentic Mexican food. We ordered a carnitas burrito and a super cane asada burrito. I will say this you get plenty of food in your burrito. The taste was bland. The beans in the burrito are too wet so the burrito just falls apart so get a fork and knife. Don't eat it like a burrito or you will be wearing it. The converted Taco Bell building was repurposed in good taste. The dining area was clean, and the employee was very nice. The food came out pretty quick and the prices were priced fairly. read more

The food was good and price reasonable. I luckily arrived with no line and was able to pickup my order through the drive thru with minimal time. Service was courteous and quick. I'll be going back again despite the scary pic of a napkin supposedly found in burrito. A cook would need to purposely place the napkin into a burrito in order to produce that type of results. The burritos are big but when a cook would prepare a burrito the napkin would be obvious found during prep. read more

We love this place and always stop when driving down 5 For some reason tonight when we stopped, we got two burritos in a bag, but they weren't labeled so I had to open one up to find out what it was. The Carne Asada burrito was pretty cold like the meat had been just taken out of refrigeration. Hopefully this is a one time thing because we really enjoy the food here. read more

Another fast food option at a truck stop [Lodi CA] This counter-service Mexican fast food restaurant is one of the food options at a truck stop in Lodi CA. We just happened to see it when we were going to stop for a quick bite at McDonald's and the drive-thru had a long line. We came here instead. They had limited indoor dining seating but it wasn't that crowded inside. They serve jumbo burritos, tacos, enchiladas, tostadas, chimichanga, combo platters, breakfast plates... quite an extensive range of Mexican classic favorites. We ordered each a California Burrito (hubby's) and Carne Asada Burrito (mine). Amazing food and reasonably priced too. Order at the counter and they bring your food to your table. Service was good. California Burrito is another great option from the usual McDonald's or Burger Kings at a truck stop off I-5 or Hwy 12. They're open late too. Would definitely stop here again for a quick bite. Breakfast was on point this morning with ordering from here. I was pretty excited that they had a drive through and open for breakfast before 730! I pulled up order my plate and a fresh cup of coffee and left pretty happy. All in all my meal was under $10. More of a home cooked meal versus fast food breakfast. I'll take that anytime. Food eh, service horrible, we came in at 6 (place reeked of fabuloso) no salsa bar, nobody else there. Maybe 18 year old behind the counter says oh order to go? Should have known better, just got food from the food truck next door on the other side of the gas station that was amazing and so much less expensive for quality food. Order super burrito "wet" and she says wet burritos only come with the regular burritos carne, pico, guacamole. WTH? I'm paying for it?!?! I came here on 2-14-21 for breakfast. My order was messed up a couple of times. I had to wait a little bit longer in drive-thru. However, things happen and I understand. I decided to get the Ham & Eggs breakfast plate with a flour tortilla and a chicken mini taco. Both of the items were yummy and enjoyable! They were piping hot and decently priced on the menu. I was so happy to learn that there was a California Burrito in Lodi! I recently moved here from Sacramento, and was a big fan of this place before. But after Yelping around for a couple of weeks, I began to notice that Lodi has a serious lack of Taquerias! Sure, there are plenty of sit-down type places, and food trucks abound, but unless they just haven't put up a Yelp page, I don't see any place quite like this. What I love about this place is that they have a larger menu than the food trucks, with many more options, including breakfast, some seafood, rolled and crispy tacos, asada fries, as well as platillos. It's a Mexican food take-out dream! And their quality is pretty good to boot! Not to mention that they have decent salsa, and they're open late. I only wish that there were another one of these in town and not out by the freeway! read more

All I can say is Cali burrito Wednesdays!!!! Thank me later!! Lol Can't go wrong with a good weekday burrito deal. Asada is flavorful and the fries are like wingstop fries. I like to add onions, cilantro inside and a side of sour cream. I must admit the sour cream is pretty pricey at like $2.50 or something. This little Mexican food joint is cranking out some pretty tasty offerings. With an extensive menu of tacos, burritos and It being located literally across the parking lot of my hotel made it even more inviting being that the other options within walking distance were a MacEDs and a Carls both of which sounded unappealing after the day's drive I had just endured. Walk up counter service with the menu boards overhead. I opted for the Veggie Burrito and a Carnitas taco regular, paid (it was cheap by comparison) the young woman behind the counter and she said she would bring it to me when ready. In less than ten minutes my food was delivered to me piping hot and made to order. The burritos are Huge and definitely enough to share I was hungry and still left a third behind. The veggies, rice, beans, guacamole, lettuce and cheese ratios were spot on and the combination was delicious. The tacos come in mini and regular, I went with the regular however the mini would have been plenty with my burrito. The carnitas was well cooked and the meat tender, this is a large double soft tortilla taco and it is definitely a meal by itself. Again all the seasoning was on point as well as the rice and beans to meat with picos ratios were near perfect. This was a great and filling taco, and the carnitas is very good. Well worth a spot and visit if you're in the area, the other options are national chains and as such are what they are. If you prefer local and freshly made with an eye for quality, fair value and friendly service then give this little outta the way taco house a try. First off, the restaurant looks like it used to be a taco bell, but it's so clean. The menu is well laid out for someone just walking into the restaurant, and the staff was friendly. We all got breakfast burritos. I'm vegetarian, so I got the egg, cheese, and bean burrito. My kids got meat in their breakfast burritos. One got ham and the other got bacon. We all loved it. My family was staying for a weekend in Lodi wine country at the RV park that is a short walk from here and we wanted brunch. Not wanting mega-fast-food-chain food, we opted for this local Mexican restaurant. It seems they have a number of locations around the Sacramento area, so they are a chain but local. The salsa bar was vast and good. I tried every one I think. My breakfast burrito was excellent and quite large. California Burrito will be a for-sure stop whenever we are at the RV park or just in the area. read more

A young lady with a bull ring in her nose started to take my order, then stopped me to take an order on her headset. Then I was clear I didn't want dairy on my chicken burrito. She ended up giving me cheese so I took it back. Then took the cheese out, but it had sour cream in it. They remade it again and it had steak in it. I haven't ate red meat nor dairy in 6 years. We live in Stockton but wanted to try something a little different from the local restaurants we go to. We ordered a shrimp fajita taco, asada and adobada taco. They were all really fresh with large portions. I suprised to see they gave a lot of shrimp when many other places only give a few pieces. We highly recommend this place over the chain restaurants surrounding it. If it is under new ownership like other comments mentioned, then it is doing a great job and folks need to try it and keep this great local business going... We will be back Cali Burrito! read more
