In both incidents, the GI doctor had to perform a procedure to remove food that became stuck in her esophagus. Dinner is included in the rent. Residents have to pay for it even if they do not eat it. We requested that the office consider offering at least one soft-food entrée option for seniors, but they were not helpful and declined to make any changes. I do not recommend this senior housing. The rent increases every year, yet the quality of service does not improve. It used to have a long waiting list, but now there are always openings-- and this is not surprising.

The trains can be noisy at times, but the location is hard to beat. It is close to many supermarkets, restaurants, library and senior center. They even have Chinese newspaper newsstand outside the complex. The security is also good. I checked a number of senior homes, and sometimes they are very depressing and smelly. It's hard for me to comprehend the lack of accountability(letting a CNA leave my grandmother unattached in a vehicle with the motor off while in Zaxby's), compassion for others(instead of assistance with feeding they claimed my grandmother was combative so they just didn't feed her, she lost approximately 100 pounds. At her new facility the first week she gained 1 pound and now 4 weeks in has gained 6 pounds), and disrespect this facility's staff has for their patients(the nurses smoking vapes at the nurses station with a patient next to them on oxygen, the administrator walking the halls beside patients puffing away on her vape). When a person accepts a management position you have to differentiate the friendships you've made with other employees because they are now your subordinates in order to maintain accountability in the workplace. There is none of that in this facility. If medical errors are made, management will lie to the families face, delete grievances/cover up for Nurses and CNAs under them, instead of taking corrective action to prevent these errors from occurring again(a tourniquet was left on my grandmothers arm for over 48 hours admin assured a grievance would be filed and an investigation would take place. There is no said documentation in my grandmothers medical record other than our families documentation that we took ourselves of this incident, no ultrasound, no venous Doppler, no doctor visit, NOTHING besides removal of the tourniquet. There could be permanent damage to her arm but nothing was done to ensure that her health was not compromised by this medical error. There was no teachable or corrective action, NOTHING, no effort of NOTHING. It is extremely sad to see what was once a great place for the elderly turn into a family's worst nightmare.

I asked co-workers about Encompass and they had very positive remarks about the recent renovation. Overall, my dad was in GREAT HANDS! His nursing team was impressive to say the least. They always went above and beyond what was expected and took great care of him. The facility was right across the street from my job at the time, so thankfully it was easy to visit! His room was always clean, spacious and items he requested were provided. They moved him twice due to (even what I wouldn't have complained about) some noticed ants (and I mean I saw three of them) and another concern near the next room. We didn't even have to utter a word! They took the initiative and made sure my dad was again comforted and cared for. He enjoyed his rehab activities and while yes they did push him, they still wanted him to take things at a healthy pace. I cannot voice how pleased and thankful I am for Encompass. Thank you all again!

Worst experience ever. Traditionally, health care in Tallahassee has been subpar compared to more…read moremetropolitan areas, but this was beyond belief even for this rural area. My 83 year old father was immediately placed on anti-psychotic drugs to sedate him and not bother the staff. Funny how he entered the place in need of PHYSICAL therapy, but was 100% mentally sound. Staff is underpaid and overworked, with owners pocketing money. MD makes a symbolic, almost cameo appearance once in a blue moon. Within 2 days, a patient tripped his bed alarm, made it down the long hallway and back and mistook my father's room for his. Patient fell into my father's hospital bed! I kept pleading for respiratory to look at my father who continued to wheeze (as staff was having him drink and eat while horizontal) and his RN did the same. I finally tracked down the MD, who acknowledged the error. By then, the situation had escalated. But for my brother being in the room when our father experienced acuterespiratory distress and called 911 to transport him to local ER, he would have been quiet dead. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. DO NOT SEND YOUR WORST ENEMIES HERE.
