From the moment I walked in I found the staff grumpy looking, an elderly man had filled out a form and brought it back to the front desk, the person behind the desk said "I'm busy right now ", he left the form and went back to his chair, as he was about to sit down another woman behind the desk yelled out " I NEED MY PEN BACK!!" He was embarrassed as if he was going to steal the pen. When I got my turn, I said hello, no response from the woman behind the desk, all I got was a "do you have an appointment "? I said no and mentioned that I thought it was just a walk in for bloodwork, she mumbled something and I said "excuse me " Then she looked up with distain and said some bloodwork requires an appointment!! Sorry I didn't look up the regulations, I'll go to another clinic next time. Rude to everyone!!! read more

Wait times are incredibly long here, even if you have an appointment which literally makes no sense. Most of the staff are nice but there are some really awful ones. There is a blonde haired girl who wears pink scrubs that likes to stand around and yell at people and give them attitude for the smallest thing. I would go somewhere else just to avoid her entirely since she has the worst customer service attitude I've ever seen in a person. The parking lot here is also atrocious which is ironic considering how large it is. Everything about this place is just inconvenient and annoying. read more

I needed blood testing for my annual physical so I went online to CLS's online booking service. The Ranchlands clinic is closest to my workplace, so I'd hoped I could stop by before work one morning. Yeah, one morning in November. The premium early-morning spots definitely book up fast here, and based on a previous experience as a drop-in (waiting 2+ hours) I couldn't risk it. In order to get my results in time for my follow-up appointment I had to book a noon appointment, which meant a grumpy morning of fasting after insufficient sleep (as I had a midnight snack in preparation). The clinic itself is sad-looking. When you have an appointment you are supposed to check your name off in the binder- I have no idea why as nobody checked it during the fifteen minutes I sat in the waiting room. The receptionists called out some names- not mine- before issuing an all-call: "DOES ANYBODY ELSE HAVE AN APPOINTMENT?" Yeah, I do, and if you looked in the sign-in binder you'd see that! The only positive part of the experience was the nurse who took my blood. A blonde woman in her fifties or sixties, she was very gentle and concerned about my well-being (as I tend to panic about anything related to blood). She even offered to let me lay down while she drew the blood (I declined). It wasn't even remotely uncomfortable, and as long as I tried not to think about what was happening it was fine. Unfortunately after my blood test I had a less positive urine test. Peeing in a cup is fine, but I don't like opening the cupboard where you pass over your pee to find other people's pee inside! Besides that being a little gross, I worry that a crazy person might contaminate my pee with Pepsi Zero or lighter fluid or even their own urine! Urine samples should be moved to a secure area immediately, in my personal opinion. Overall visiting this clinic sucks, but one nice nurse was enough to warrant three stars. I picked the Ranchlands Calgary Laboratory Services for my usual tests. Did you know that you can make appointments for your tests if it's just the usual type? If not, you'll have to phone it in. I kid you not. There were about 15 people waiting in the room and when I got there at 7:35 a.m. for appointment was at 7:40 a.m., I had barely sat down when my name was called! In less than a minute, the lab guy called for me and I was in the room to have my blood test. And, I was out of there in 10 minutes! That's service - so much quicker than having to waste time sitting in that room. read more

I absolutely hate his place!!! I needed some blood work done for my physical and this location was the only one that had a opening in the morning around 8am. I got there a little earlier and lone and behold, the place was packed and a few open chairs were left. I hadn't gotten blood work done in awhile and was unaware that they check in by using some binder (found that out by the grump nurse). Finally checked in and began my arduous time of waiting for my appointment to come along. Waited... waited.... and waiting. 45 mins later I find out that the nurse somehow skipped my name and thought I wasn't here. The actual blood test and urine test was quick and efficient (less then 10 mins) but the amount of time and inefficiencies at this clinic are so great that if you can I would try and go to a different location if possible. For starters, it seems like a prerequisite is to be a miserable person in order to work behind the desk at the lab. The most unfriendly people I've experienced and on many different occasions. Secondly, the ability to book online is great! However, if you have what is considered to be routine blood tests that must be done a specific day of your cycle...GOOD LUCK! Especially, if that day falls on a weekend. Basically, your only option is to do a walk-in and sit there hours upon hours waiting for your turn. It seems a little unfair. When I spoke to someone about that and asked her what my options are she said well you could guess when the expected day would be and book it ahead of time and if you're wrong then you can cancel.
