Like some of the others have commented I was not happy with their bait and switch pricing. I bought online, then was contacted by CC who said the price was higher and I would have to pay the difference. CC says the original price was a "mistake" and pointed out their weasel words buried somewhere in their website. Don't get suckered into paying more than the advertised price at CC! From online reviews this problem seems to have a bit of a pattern with them. If this happens to you get your money back and spend elsewhere. These guys are totally useless. I have left multiple emails, called them, sent them pictures and even went on to their website for assistance. They are all too brain damaged to offer any assistance whatsoever! My advice would be, to stay away and find a real bike shop that cares about their customers. After waiting in line for 30 minutes to pick up my bike From service. They put the front tire on the back and the rear tire on the front. Just wondering if the monkeys working on my bike have ever actually done work on a mountain bike before or I just got the monkey in training. I came here because it was close to home. What a mistake. We came here looking to buy a bicycle for our granddaughter. We walked around the store, waiting to be helped. We were told somebody would come as soon as possible, as soon as they were free. Finally we went up to some of the employees who were standing around talking with each other behind the counter. The service was poor as soon as they found out that we were looking for a bike for a child, they didn't really have much time for us. We took our business elsewhere . I was completely turned off by their ridiculous rules of no more than 10 customers in the huge empty store, line ups at the door, plus 3 men waiting to have their bicycles picked up for repairs when they had already booked online. I sub in classes of 35 students and when I go to the food court, there are a lot more people, and we do not make such a big fuss. I can't say enough about how good the service has been, and how thrilled I am with my new Mountain bike. I grew up in the days of road bikes. This was my first Mountain bike, and James and everyone there answered all my questions, and guided me through a very enjoyable buying process. Stay away from this place if you can find somewhere else to take your bike I'm writing this review as I've just had an annoying experience with this bike shop. *I have no vehicle so I'm organizing Rides to get these bikes fixed.* I called March 2nd/21 to get my bike in for service and they told me they are booking a week out and I was scheduled to drop my bike off on March 9th. I went in on March 9th and had a 45-minute wait in line to just drop off the bikes for service. They told me it would be about a week to fix it. I called on March 13th, March 16th, and 17th and left a message asking about the status of my bike and requested them to call me back. After 3 days of leaving messages, they never called me back. The shop told me a week and then 9 days later they haven't called me back. So I ask for a ride down there from a friend and go to the shop on March 18th to go talk to them in person. They said the bike would be ready the next day. I told them it would be good practice to call customers back when they leave 3 messages on 3 different days. Seems like common sense right? I asked a friend to borrow his truck to go pick up the bikes the next day Thursday, March 18th. I had two bikes to pick up so I didn't think to test it when I left the store and put the bikes in the truck. I rode my bike today to find out THEY DIDNT FIX MY BIKE!!! I called in and told them the problem when I booked the appointment. I also told the service desk the problem AGAIN of what was wrong with it and then after 10 days of these shenanigans, the BIKE IS NOT FIXED. This is a huge inconvenience to have to go in there again, There is no point in calling because they NEVER return a phone call. I'm so disappointed as I needed the bike fixed since March 2nd as it's my transportation and I was happy to have it back only to find out they took my money and wasted my time. Calgary Cycle online store is a scam. Watch for false advertising and dishonourable sales. Bought a bike last night for my wife (Juliana Joplin) on the Scratch, Dent and Demo sale... It was posted at a very low cost. After transacting online I received a confirmation email and my credit card showed a debit. Next day I phoned the store in advance of picking up to extend the olive branch and let them know the deal was too good to be true. The manager offered no explanation except to say it was an error and the bike was not in stock. This was a lie as a few others I know who also bought bikes (Norco, Santa Cruz) and did not have these purchases honoured either. Calgary Cycle is a sham... just go to BOW Cycle were they would have honoured there sales and mistakes in a heart beat. They just lost a ton of business from me, my bike clubs, and cycling network. read more

Good place to get higher end bikes. I have purchased two $6000+ mountain bikes from them over the years. The service mechanics on the other hand are very mediocre. I give them a try every five years or so but nope - they consistently suck. As of my last repair in April 2020. I do all basic maintenance (drivetrain, brakes, pivots, dropout, replacements and repairs). But shocks/forks, anomalies I take to a shop. This shop tends to do as much harm as good most of the time. I think that their guys in the back are just not that good at troubleshooting or patient enough at assemblies. Give them a pass if you're thinking of trying them for repairs. read more

The staff, from owner to mechanic, ride and not only have first hand experience with their bikes but also have first hand knowledge of the trails you'll want the shred. Lines include Santa Cruz, Trek, Knolly, Yeti, Intense, Bianchi, Ibis and probably one or two more. The boys can set you up with a factory spec bike or make it as custom as you want. I've been a customer of just about every bike shop in Calgary and Calgary Cycle is now the only place I go. You'll get great value on what you buy. This doesn't mean cheap, rather the price will be really good for what you get. read more

Once again, walked in to Calgary Cycle to make a purchase and ask a few questions. Great looking, beautiful store but many items are behind glass, or require a sales person to access. Unfortunately, in 10 minutes of being in there, I was not acknowledged once, except for someone wheeling a bike past me, and so I walked out again. Waste of my time... I've purchased a mountain bike through them before, but if their staff cannot be bothered to greet customers or ask if they can help out, this will be my last visit. read more

I have bought 5 bikes from them in the last decade. If you want high end this is where you should go. I been there many times for service and have found all there shops to be top notch. I have had all my bikes in for minor tweaks/adjustments many times and it always surprises me how they can do some very minor tweaks and my issues are gone. My only complaint is they stopped carrying intense. read more

I had brought my bike in for upgrading parts, they had seen the bike on several occasions, even done minor work. Simply put their service department developed a plan to upgrade to hydraulic disk brakes and drivetrain systems, all at their recommendation. I ordered and paid for over $2,000 worth of parts all in consultation with a service rep.. after waiting several weeks I booked a service appointment to install , showed up on my Saturday morning and they refused to install because my bike was too old and was modified (it is a 2002 Specialized Hard Rock Comp A-1 hard tail and it is great mechanically and otherwise - I commute daily with it In all weather )... they were happy to sell me parts or a new bike. I EVEN PAID FOR THE PARTS AND INSTALL BEFORE they denied service. Staff was unhelpful, manager was extremely rude telling me to "use the internet" to find what I need, zero help or alternative regarding if another mechanic would assist. Just so incredibly frustrated. Bottom line: manager incredibly rude, staff too busy to answer phone or speak about any issues once purchase complete, big shop selling Noroco (not so great) bikes to the masses, I got a full refund (the first refund was short by $256 so I had to go back and get the full amount refunded after two trips)... I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN THAT STORE AGAIN OR BUY ANYTHING FROM THAT STORE. I went downtown to The Bike Shop and had instant personal service to do what Calgary Cycle could/would not and for less cost. SHOP AT THE BIKE STORE- much friendlier and more knowledgable. read more

We took two Specialzed bicycles in for a routine service. When we picked them up they said they could not service the S works brakes. It would have been nice to know that at drop off before leaving them there; We would have gone elsewhere. Furthermore, a screw for my brakes was missing. They didn't have one, made no effort to source one and suggested we go looking for it on our own time. Friendly staff; but we won't be back. read more

Canada's premier bike shop??? Not so much. Calgary's premier bike shop??? Nope, not really. Westen Calgary's premier bike shop??? Mehhhh, can't say that. Where does this ridiculous claim come from. Some staff are knowledgeable but some dishonest business practices are unforgivable. If you do purchase a product or service from these folks, check your receipt thoroughly and don't let them get away with charging you for something you did not ask for nor want. They were an easy three star before I fell victim to their shenanigans. My girlfriend and I were both sized for bikes, shown bikes in our price range, zero sales pressure and given our first service for free at another bike shop in town, and actually payed a sale price for each ride. Compared to Calgary Cycles average to high pricing and charging me for services that were not requested upon a repair. I must rate this chain a NOPE just for that! read more

I brought my bike in to get a new tire put on. Everything else was in good repair. After getting my bike back with the new tire, I needed a new chain two bike rides later. After a couple more rides, I need to get new shifters and all the bolts on the bike were loosened. One of the lowlifes in the repair department purposefully wrecked my bike. This review is for Road, the road bike shop owned by Calgary Cycle and located a few doors down. I love this place. Absolutely amazing customer service. Bikes come with free tune ups for life. I think my last tune up must have been two hours of shop time, all for free! An example of how amazing these folks are: I purchased a bike computer with my new bike and my spouse purchased a more expensive version. It turns out the more expensive version shows more things (cadence, heart rate and km/hr) simultaneously, while mine did not. I decided I would buy the more expensive one a few months later. When I went to buy it, they gave me 100% of the purchase price of the old one, as a credit to the new one. For a USED, INSTALLED bike computer!! I was blown away. Another time they let me take a few different stems (several hundred $$ each) home for several weeks, without a deposit or credit card number. This past time, we couldn't get the backing off of a bike computer, because we didn't have the specialty tool to do it. The guy went to two different stores in an attempt to not only get the back off, but to also purchase and replace the battery for us. All in all, I am constantly amazed at the lengths they will go to in order to provide good customer service. The free keurig coffees are a nice touch, too. (They had one years before most other retailers caught on.) read more

I brought my Bike in for a tune up and was quoted an additional $30 for new cables on top of what I already paid for the tune up. That seemed fair to me so I told them no problem, but call me if there's anything else. Went to pick up my bike the next day and there was a $90 charge in addition to the basic tuneup price. They did a good job tuning the bike, but the unexpected costs really bothered me. I would say from a technical side they know their stuff, but on the business side they seem a little sketchy. We took two bikes in for the $95.00 service at the new Bow Trail store. We had to schedule the appointment two weeks in advance because they were busy, and we made the appointment for a Tuesday. When we scheduled it, we made sure to explain we wouldn't bring them in until sometime after 4 that day, and we repeated this at least twice. We were told that was not a problem because the bikes would be serviced the next day and we could bring them in anytime between 10 and 8. When we brought them in that evening, however, the young guy admonished us for being late, saying they should have been brought in on the Monday because the service was scheduled for that day. When we explained what we were told, he didn't apologize and arrogantly said, (These are his exact words:) "That's not the way it works." He nevertheless said they would be finished on Wednesday or at the latest Thursday. However, they weren't finished until a week later. When we finally picked them up and complained, the guy dismissed us by saying, "Oh yeah, we had a guy quit." Not an apology or anything. I didn't have a good chance to look at the bike for a couple of days and was disappointed it hadn't even had the dust wiped off of it. I went back, and again the guy just said that the $95.00 price doesn't include this. There were a couple of other issues as well, but I'll leave it at this. This company is a victim of its own success! They're so busy they don't care how they talk to customers or how slow and disrespectful their service is. One star is generous. Too bad. We were excited about having this store in our neighborhood. read more

Calgary Cycle was great when we were wanting to purchase a bike from them. Awesome communication, etc. We didn't have many options for stores around our home to buy this specific bike so we contacted Calgary Cycle. Chris was great and my husband ended up purchasing the bike for me for xmas. Fast forward to this May and I was treated with zero respect when I called to bring my bike in for service. I called 2 weeks in advance to see if I could get an appointment because I would be near Calgary for a few days. Service guy didn't even have the time of day to check the schedule for me. Just basically laughed and told me to call the Bragg Creek location and see if they could do something. Same thing when my husband called in. Totally unimpressed with the service aspect and really wish we wouldn't have purchased from Calgary Cycle at this point. Chris emailed back after the fact but at that point, I wasn't going to drive 3 hours again to get my bike looked at for 15 minutes when I had just been there a day prior. Very disappointing. I get that maybe they were booked up and that is completely fine, but there was no excuse for being treated the way we were. Thankfully we have an awesome bike shop here in Edmonton that got me in the morning I called and gave it a quick run through. Had to pay for service but it's better than being totally pushed off by another shop. Hoping they get stuff straightened out and others aren't treated the same. read more
