BE AWARE! If I could give this place less than zero stars I would. During a time of unprecedented…read moresadness and sorrow in our lives, they were completely unprofessional, untrustworthy and a total money grab! They kept rushing us during the funeral service, whilst still charging us for "going over" the 30 mins allotted time. The place is filthy, and they have no private room for the funeral service. Instead, they placed a wooden divider between the lobby/ sitting area and the area for the viewing. When we were ready to pay for the funeral expenses, we were told there was a 2.6% extra charge to pay by credit card. This was NOT mentioned during the time of booking. Hence, we had to pay by debit. Not only are they well overpriced on all their services, they keep adding to the bill for all small requests. This was in addition to having already paid for a complete package of documentation services provided by them. The day after the funeral, I spoke to Ryan to request a travel document for the cremated remains (there was a $5.25 charge for this) and to also revert the CPP death benefit form to my father in law's name as the funeral was paid by debit. He agreed to waive the charges as he said it was a matter of simply changing the name and address in their system over the weekend. When we arrived on Monday morning to pick up the cremated remains, Ryan was not there. Instead we met with Kayla and another woman who was their manager. They were the most unkind, argumentative people I have ever met, and to think they deal with people who are grieving makes my heart ache even more and compels me to write this review. They kept arguing that there would be a charge for both the travel document ($5.25) and the change on the CPP form ($40 for the name and address change). I informed them that I had already discussed this with Ryan who never mentioned the $40 charge and was going to waive the $5.25 for the travel document. They insisted that this was not the case, despite not being privy to the conversation I had with Ryan. When I requested he be contacted, they refused to do so. Instead they told me to " lower my voice and respect the other family there." I replied that I too was a grieving family and not there for fun. I had neither raised my voice, nor was I loud. They just did not want the other family making arrangements to hear how disrespectful and money hungry they were. This is my first ever social media post, but i am compled to write this, for if you care about your beloved one who has recently departed do NOT ever use their services. You will be thoroughly disappointed and saddened by their uncouth, money grab behavior whilst you mourn this immense loss.

The worst part is that the customer is a grieving family that was just defrauded. To bad they had to be busted by CBC to change their ways. http://calgary.ctvnews.ca/mobile/family-says-carbon-tax-levy-on-cremation-added-to-their-grief-1.3239241 https://www.google.ca/amp/www.cbc.ca/amp/1.3929133?client=safari

If you choose to use this company, expect that you will pay double what other funeral homes and…read morecemeteries in the area charge. The staff is wonderful until your invoice is paid and there is nothing else to sell you. After that, do not expect to receive responses to any inquiries once your invoice is paid. My experience has been that while the funeral home was happy to sell a meal after the service for 100 people, they only wanted to allow 50 people at the service due to the need to validate QR codes. How can one host 100 people on a 'per plate' basis at the exact same facility but only accept 50 for the service which, at 50% capacity per COVID rules, allows 150 people to attend? Then you are treated to the sales people at the cemetery who have the brass to tell you that you need to 'lock in a price for the plot'. The goal, as far as I can tell, is to get you to agree to their significantly higher fees while you are vulnerable. Items like the burial permit are over $1,000 more than the City charges. I also believe it is unethical to ask a client to sign an acknowledgement about potential 'delays' and then quote the normal time frames instead of the anticipated time with the potential delay. It cannot be legal to have a client sign an acknowledgement when the sales person deliberately provides incorrect information. How do I know, because after signing, I asked for clarification and was told it could take 2 months longer than what the sales person said. And, to be clear, that would put delivery and installation AFTER payment in full would be required. Burying your spouse is a terrible time in your life. Being taken advantage of when you are vulnerable is reprehensible.

The next day, we viewed the Cemetery and discovered that they had more rules, than the Kremlin. In addition things like plaques, cetain colors of writing, or any personal momentos were no longer allowed anymore. Now gone were certain colors of Headstones or Hamptons, and certain styles or cuts of stone. Regardless of all that we found a vacant spot still in view of the Rockies and quiet which was confirmed to be available. The availability of most places the family director took us to was 0 to about 15%. Few choices. We were forced to pay it all up front for this small Hampton monument designed to fit our ashes. The fee? About $18,000. After they got the money, it was like we didn't exist. We were told that it was going to take about 4 monthes to have it prepared which would have taken us to the last week in March or early April 2021. In April it still was not there! In May I went out and discovered it, but it was still missing a bunch and the stencilling was terrible! In addition to that there was a poured concrete pad in front of our paid for Hampton that was designed to facilitate a bench? I asked them to remove it, and they said they would but had no intentions of doing so. I asked the sales person to keep me informed, but he chose not to. About 8 days later; I made a third trip out there only to discover that they removed my wife and I's Hampton and put in the back next to a property fence on another plot owned by someone else!! In where we paid to be was a new bench not yet inscribed. We had been booted out with not so much as any notification or communication of any kind. So again, I called the salesman and met him out at the site and he just hummed and haawed, and said I'll put in a work order to have this fixed. AGAIN....he never did! About 2 weeks later June . The sales person is no longer anwering my emails or communicating what so ever. He's playing the " avoidance game". I make my way back the cemetary and I find that my wife and I have been pushed around some more. We are in still yet another new space. In our paid for space, now sits the black bench with fresh stenciling inscribed on it belonging to another family. Again no explanation given, no communication or notice given to us of any kind, and a so what attitude by their management! I couldn't believe what was happening to us. We were just getting pushed around like an old shopping cart. The assistant manager for Eden Brook Cemetary meets with us and admits they screwed up, but has the nerve to aske me what would be a plan "B" for us? This after admitting that our account was paid up first and that we were there first. We had been there since Aug. 07 2020. Then the assistant manager says it will be another approx. 30 days before our Hampton is ready. We had submitted pictures back in October to be placed on to the Hampton and they were accepted and confirmed to be of the right quality. Here we are today...and no pictures. The stencillinig that the sales rep showed us in the office looks a whole lot different than what's on there today. The Hampton was supposed to be Green and it is ....as long as it's in the sunlight. Otherwise it's dark Brown. The assistant manager said that our pictures are "in" but would not produce them for us. It looks like Eden Brooks funeral and Cemetery services, are not a good place to be. If they can all of a sudden without any notice what so ever, push you out of your paid for spot, and place you where ever they please and still not provide an explanation, then they are not there to provide integrity and any form of rectitude. I can't believe in this day and age, that any Cemetery would make this there business practise. To this day we have never received a letter of appology, a letter of explanation, or a written commitment to remidy the situation. To take illegal liberties on an older couple to whom worked very hard for that $18,000 dollars is shamfull and nafarious. I have sent a letter to the Manager Michael Fricker and his assistant Charlie Emery. The bottom line is, EDEN BROOK CEMETARY IN MY VIEW IS NOT TO BE TRUSTED IN ANYWAY WHAT SO EVER!! They had a number of occassions to make this right but opted to forget about it. When emails and the questions in those emails aren't addressed, that's tantamount to saleman and management hiding. If your innocent you don't have to hide or conscrue lies. I will be taking other measures !! A warning however to all unsuspecting people dealing with this cemetery. I can assure you once more, that had my wife and I had been burried, nothing would have changed, but because we had a smaller monument, they took liberties and just moved us around anywhere and everywhere without any communication, or notification what so ever!! Today is June 4th, and we are still sitting off our paid for plo
