Aka- farm country. 3 hours later, my car was loaded on a flatbed to go to the dealership in High Springs. The next morning Lindsay called to ask me what happened & to let me know they were behind on diagnoses, that there were several cars ahead of mine. Ugh. I explained that I was from Florida, visiting for work. I booked a rental, and relied on locals to help me during all of this. What blew my mind, a call from Lindsay again just before 5pm. Because I'm not a local, he pushed my car through faster & the lead mechanic, Chance, was staying late to narrow down the problem. Code was showing something wrong with fuel getting to the motor. 20 minutes later... he called again! I had just had my car serviced before driving Hundreds of miles & one of the air filters wasn't clicked in all the way! A simple stupid fix! I was relieved. Lindsay also said they had to fix a couple of recalls, but that my car should be ready by 10am the next morning! Stunned, relieved, but i was still holding my breath until the next morning - 9am, again earlier than he quoted- my car was ready! Tires were pushed aside for other things they said were more urgent, and the whole experience felt like a sales pitch, not a service. Oak Hollow has been the complete opposite every single time. I've come here before for inspections, and they've always treated me with respect and clarity. This time, they passed my inspection but also took photos of my tires and explained what would likely come up next year. They printed three tire options without me asking and talked me through each one. What really stood out is that they recommended the lowest price option -- not because it was cheap, but because it made sense for my driving habits and the fact that my car has only reached about 40,000 miles in seven years. They didn't assume anything about me, didn't pressure me, and didn't try to upsell. We had a very negative experience with this dealership, who did not fully…read moredisclose (and in fact tried to cover up) the sheer amount of rust on the frame of the truck we bought. The frame was actually hollowed out in spots, but covered over with black tape. There were many other rust-related issues and the brake calipers on one tire were not even attached (and yet they gave me a document showing it had passed inspection at a local station). This would have been my 17-year-old son's first car, saved with his own money, and if I could get a do-over, I would have had my mechanic do a full inspection on the vehicle before buying. Hard lesson learned. Shame on me for buying this, but I'm shocked that OD Motors could sell this with a clear conscience, willingly putting a minor behind the wheel of a vehicle that was unfit and hazardous to drive. I had two mechanics tell me they would not drive it, one of them urging me to file a complaint with the state. Two dealerships said the same, one even exhorting us to hire an attorney. We could not get $100 for a truck we spent $8000 on, and Edgar was unwilling to work with us to recoup even part of our losses. We have filed a complaint and will never purchase a used car without our mechanic's all-clear. Lesson learned. But let our experience protect you from a similar mistake, and by all means steer clear of OD Motors.

This one is ran like they used to be- even down to the owner coming out to pump gas in between answering the phone and working on cars. He tends to handle the routine maintenance appointments and inspections while his associate takes care of more involved jobs. It has given me peace of mind to know that if my car needed repair, I can count on these guys to give me honest and solid recommendations either within their business or other local businesses they trust. With many auto shops taking advantage of people these days, it really means a lot to find one you can trust. As I've mentioned, this is a two man operation so appointments are necessary and hours are a bit more limited than the chain locations. It is worth the effort, though. Mike is always quick to answer the phone and pencil you in as soon as the schedule allows. Most of the time within the same week. His prices are very reasonable and he gets you in and out quick. He has oil changes timed so perfectly, one time I was able to set a timer on my phone for the time he said it would take and run across the street to grab a coffee at the cafe that was once in the yellow house. As I was making my way back across, I see my car backing out of the garage just as my timer went off! It can be a tight squeeze for me to work in an oil change on my lunch break but knowing I can count on the appointment time, I am able to make it work. Long story short, if you're looking for a service station in the Jamestown area that you can trust to offer reliable service at a good price, Mike's is the place to go. Even if it's something his shop doesn't do, he can give you a recommendation you can trust as well. This shop may be one of the things I miss most when I move away, haha!
