Refreshing, strong, plentiful... the best. The loaded hashbrowns were okay - the potatoes were a bit undercooked and cheese sauce served it's purpose I guess but the bacon was perfect, the right amount, fried to perfection, and honestly the saving grace of the meal. Every single person enjoyed their drinks and we loved sitting outside to people watch while chit chatting. I would get the spritz again, for sure!

Good breakfast spot with friendly service and solid food overall…read more I had the eggs benedict and Matt ordered the full breakfast. The eggs were cooked properly, the flavours were good, and everything tasted fresh. Staff were accommodating when he asked to swap the black pudding and even added an extra sausage, which was a nice touch. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, making it a nice place to sit and enjoy breakfast. The only downside was that the portion sizes felt a bit small for the price, so value could be better. Overall though, a nice breakfast spot and somewhere I'd happily return.

They were quick behind the counter, though. They had a lot of options with fish cake, pies, and all the different sides and sauces, but I got a standard fish & chips. The fish was huge, flakey, delicious. It came as a set meal with the chips an even with mushy peas so you don't have to order separately. I also got my favorite chips with curry sauce, which was nice and the sauce came on the side and kept really hot and nice over my trip home. Overall, quite pleased. If you're in the West Bridgford area and looking for some good takeaway fish & chips, head over to George's. I may even go again during my stay here, especially since they also put a buy-one-get-one-free coupon in your bag :)

I dined there today with a party of six and was initially impressed by the prompt attention paid by the front of house staff and the greeting they gave. The table was placed in the window and although it was a round table it seemed fairly obvious to me that it would be a bit of a struggle for room once we filled it up with drinks and dishes - and so it proved. I would have thought this was fairly obvious to staff as more items were brought across to us, but they never took the opportunity to remove the items surplus to requirements on there, meaning we were left to shuffle glasses and plates around. This small issue aside I am very positive about the overall experience I enjoyed. The choice of food was good and as they opened up many dishes to be taken as either a 'starter' or 'main' portion it meant there was a wide choice of dishes to try. Starters were in the region of £5 and mains were generally around the £10 mark, slightly more if you went for the steak or fish dishes. The furnishings were smart and it was pleasing atmosphere to sit in and enjoy a good well cooked meal with friends and family.

So ringing to rearrange always makes me a little nervous (I hate being a pain in the bum). But the conversation I had with the Harts representative was so reassuring that I immediately felt comfortable with my new booking. We were also staying at the hotel that weekend (which I will also review) and had a pre-dinner drink in the bar (which again was fantastic) and was a perfect start to the evening. Arriving at the restaurant (if I'm completely honest) I was a little disappointed with the décor. It reminds me very much of a fine dining establishment in America... which I personally think is quite an old fashioned take on being "modern". But none of that matters when you receive the service and the standard of food that we received that evening. I started with the tuna cerviche. It was garnished well with coriander making the dish light and refreshing. The tuna was absolutely delicious and sometimes I avoid it because it can have a jelly-like texture which I don't enjoy at all. But this was perfect. I then opted for a sirloin main course, and my, oh my, it was one of the tastiest pieces of meat I've ever eaten (and I do love a steak). It was cooked to perfection and exactly as I'd asked for it. Juicy, tender meat served with thrice cooked chips, roasted veggies and a sauce that was sweet and rich. The sauce was actually so yummy that I asked for more so I could dip my chips in it (you can take the girl out of Stoke, but you can't take Stoke out of the girl). We then had a melt in the middle chocolate fondant, with pistachio ice cream. Now this was where the service could have gone terribly, but it didn't. We ordered two desserts and the waiter had misheard us. When one dessert arrived with two spoons, the waiter immediately came to us and apologised profusely. Now I was already stuffed at this point and was ready to cancel the dessert anyway, but the manager then arrived to explain that the dessert was on it's way and would not be added to the bill along with two complimentary glasses of champagne. Now that is service. We were made to feel welcome and looked after in a professional yet friendly way. The little stumble at the end of the meal could have been a disaster in some establishments, but at Harts it just proved that everything is done with grace and expertise. Harts will certainly have my heart for a while.

The restaurant wasn't super busy, but the ambiance was comfortable and despite the fact that we were probably much louder than any other table there it didn't feel like we were disturbing the peace the way it sometimes does in nice restaurants. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable. Our drinks orders were taken immediately and the service was attentive but not over-bearing. My brother's girlfriend is vegetarian which usually means she has the option of only 1 or 2 dishes on the menu, but Hart's had a separate vegetarian menu they brought for her which had about 10 dishes on it- again a sign of the excellent service. It sucks when vegetarians are treated like second-class citizens and Hart's was quite the opposite. The food itself was excellent. I ordered the game terrine followed by the sea bream from the set menu (they had no problem with my mixing and matching, which is always nice). Both were delicious. I also tasted the mushroom fricassee starter which was great, and the venison for main course which was truly delicious. The only downside was that they had run out of 2 dishes - I assume because it was right after Christmas and they weren't expecting a busy night. Definitely a disappointment, however, when we mentioned that we were really disappointed that there was no calve's liver left because the person who had wanted it had never tried it before, they actually brought out a small taste of the dish for him to try - in addition to his main course and at no charge. Again, another sign of the excellent service. All in all, a great experience and if you want to have a nice dinner with great service, I can recommend no place more highly than Hart's.
