Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem

Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem

Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem in Nottingham is a really fun and memorable spot that earns a solid four…read morestars for the overall experience. This place absolutely nails the spooky, historic ambience and that alone makes it worth the visit. Built into the rock and filled with low ceilings, uneven floors, and centuries of history, it genuinely feels like stepping back in time. Every corner has character and a slightly eerie charm that adds to the experience rather than taking away from it. The ambience is easily the highlight here. From the dim lighting to the old stone walls and hidden nooks, it feels authentic and atmospheric without trying too hard. It is the kind of place where you want to slow down, look around, and soak it all in. If you appreciate history or enjoy places with a bit of mystery and legend behind them, this pub delivers in a big way. Service was good overall but not outstanding. Staff were friendly and helpful, though things moved at a relaxed pace, especially when it got busy. Orders were correct and everyone was polite, but there were moments where service felt just okay rather than exceptional. That said, the staff fit the vibe of the place well and were happy to answer questions about the history, which added to the experience. Drinks were solid and what you would expect from a historic pub. Nothing mind blowing, but enjoyable and well poured. The food was decent and satisfying, fitting the traditional pub feel, even if it did not completely steal the show. Overall Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem is a place you go for the atmosphere and history first, with good service and an enjoyable experience rounding it out. It is not perfect, but it is unique, memorable, and absolutely worth a visit when in Nottingham. Four stars for a spooky, historic pub that delivers charm and character in spades.

Like all structures of this era, the ceilings are quite low and the stairs and rooms are quite twisty and full of surprises. The staff was so nice and efficient. I ordered at the bar downstairs and had my meal delivered to a table on the next floor (see video). I've taken many trips to the UK, and frequented many establishments with signs claiming the "world's best fish and chips.". The fish was amazing and perfectly prepared. The chips were not greasy at all, and very flavorful. The highlight was the fresh peas! Bursting with flavor. I rate the fish and chips second only to the Mayfair Chippy in London, however, the ambiance and experience takes it over the top even if you're only slopping by for a pint.

Boilermaker - Hockley Sin Fizz

I liked the drama of the entrance to the bar (which i wont go into detail about so not to run), but more importantly i liked the bar itself. The first thing i noticed was that you couldnt just go through you had to wait in the entrance area until there was enough room to be seated. You could consider this pretentious, but i saw this as ensuring the right atmosphere. It ensured the bar wasnt too loud with over powering chatter, but instead a pleasant and table serviced experience. When entering the bar itself i was immediately delighted to find we were now within a covered court yard area that had always been behind the facade of the building. A small surprise ...something i hadn't expected or known existed. we were seated in the garden area (inside, but the decor was garden like) with twinkling lights and plenty of greenary, but further in the bar felt more warehousey with old stable stalls at one end. the menu choice of cocktails was bizarre and i didnt really fancy any of them....but my friends did and they were really good. I think i just couldnt see through the narative clearly enough.....my error not there's. a great bar, with a bit of quirk, creating a lovely warm welcoming atmosphere and serving fantastic cocktails. You should go!

Table service only, no standing at the bar (or anywhere for that matter) with a great range of cocktails and beers. Chilled atmosphere with no loud, lager louts. Expect to pay £7.50 for a cocktail so not cheap but for a nice relaxed treat, definitely worth it.

Rose & Crown

Friday night dinner and drinks, Saturday afternoon rugby or football, affordable weekday meals -…read moreThe Rose & Crown is good for absolutely anything, and my PGCE course mates and I are sometimes in there multiple times a week. A branch of Flaming Grill, the menu is consistently excellent and very reasonably priced. The challenge meals including the "bin lid" are hilarious to watch somebody try to eat alone, and ridiculously cheap to share. Each day of the week comes with it's own deal, including our personal favourite, £2 dessert Friday. The apple crookie and the cookie dough cheesecake are to die for. Their steaks and burgers are always cooked to perfection and portion sizes are generous. The piggy burger is a personal favourite of mine. The service is always polite, friendly and efficient, although most of the staff members don't exactly have a memory for faces, and still ID us despite seeing us every Friday since September! My most recent visit was in a group of 6 on a Friday evening. It was busy, and we were apologetically warned that there was 40 minute wait for food - however, we only actually waited 20. My scampi and chips was delicious and perfectly cooked, with lovely tartare sauce, and my fiancee's steak was exactly as rare and tender as she wanted it. She is not eating carbs at the moment, and they happily swapped her chips and vegetables for salad with a side of salad. (rather her than me!) Things only went up from there when some bottles of cider were found with badly damaged labels, and were offered to us at 2 for £4 - cheaper than the supermarket! Can't say fairer than that.
