My friend and I went on a Friday, which was the educational day and which was more geared towards family and children. There was no alcohol served and while there was a fantastic bagpipe player serenading people with the Outlander theme song, there was not a wealth of live entertainment (the alcohol, live music and other interactive performances happen on both the Saturday and Sunday of the faire.) We both knew that the festivities were paired down on Friday, and we both were more excited about exploring the vendors. The grounds were fantastic and all of the vendors were so personable and genuinely thrilled to be part of the annual event. We sampled teas, admired Celtic wood-working, gushed over Native American beaded hats, tried on cute flowy shirts and much more. My favorite aspect of this event was definitely the people. Everyone we encountered was so friendly and passionate about celtic wares. It was a heart-warming experience in so many ways. If you ever have the opportunity to check out this annual event - do. If you are looking for a rowdy time and enjoy people watching - I recommend coming by early on a Saturday or Sunday (I've heard that parking gets tough later on in the day). If you're like me and prefer getting a mellow peek at the Celtic stalls in advance of the busier weekend - Friday is your day. Trust.

I love this festival…read more It's low key, affordable, accessible, and the good vibes are in abundance. This year was my third year attending this festival and I continue to be impressed by the organization of it, the music, and the fantastic vendors interspersed throughout the grounds. From colorful tye-dye, delicate jewelry, one of a kind vintage items, hand crafted baseball hats, hip big brimmed hats, stunning photography and much more - I love to peruse each of the booths - and enjoy supporting as many as I can. The stage is always impressive at this festival and the sound is always on point too. From my understanding - the stage has a rich history and many great artists (including the Grateful Dead I believe) have performed on it back in the day. This festival truly captures the essence of Twain Harte in an inspiring way. It showcase local merchants, music, and food - and I love the diverse age range of attendees. From hula-hooping, face painting, and much more - there are plenty of activities for kids during the event, and if you're older and would prefer to just lounge in the mellow vibes - you're more than welcome to bring in your own chairs and manifest some cooling shade. I've been to many festivals throughout the years - and this festival continues to be one of my favorites. The staff always seem to be having a great time, the music is quality, and everybody seems to be genuinely having a great time. I'm looking forward to next year :) Trust.

This used to be called the Tracy Dry Bean Festival. I guess the new name is catchier…read more Never attended the old event as I missed it last year and before that I wasn't in these parts. But it was a good time. Nice small town festival with local vendors and lots of yummy local foods. There were two stages playing music at opposite ends. One in the Great Plate parking lot and the other right up at the corner of Central and 10th. As you can imagine central was closed for that entire stretch of road. The Lockeford Sausage was delicious and the El Toro Tacos from the taco truck did not disappoint. I got to sample wines from windmill ridge and Ramon rios wineries. There were also a couple of beer/microbrew spots as well. There was an activity tent for the kids, a produce area so you can sample and buy fresh local fruits and veggies, and even a chili cook off. Good times for the whole family.

This is a rather new festival to Murphys, so it has not yet reached it's full potential, but boy…read moredoes it have the potential!! This fun new festival is being spear-headed by one of the local wineries with many of the Main St. business' participating by way of setting up alters in their shops. (the book store had one to Shakespeare etc. etc.) Many people participate in the Catrina/Catrin costume contest held mid-day at the local theater (so cool to see them all walking around town all day!!) and in the evening they do a procession to a local cemetery to honor the dead. And there are usually a few different places to listen to live music, this year I've heard they'll be having a great mariachi band! It is always fun to walk around Murphys eating and drinking your way through the day, and this event just makes it that much more fun and interesting! So if you are planning on coming to Murphys around the beginning of November (it's held the first weekend usually, check their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/DiaDeLosMurtosMurphysCalifornia) then come for this event, and maybe even join in the costume contest!

Soul Food Festival- Location Weber point in Stockton, CA…read more So this was the 8 th annual Soul Food Festival in Stockton, Ca. It's on August 1st of every year. This was the first time I ever heard of the event. I came here with my Grandpa and our friend to check things out. The admission was free and the parking was free since it was on a Sunday. Inside there was all kinds of booths with different types of soul food. We decided to try out some Jamaican food from Delroys. I had this chicken called jerk chicken with rice, beans and a salad. The jerk chicken was really good, whatever spice they use. It hit the spot and the Jamaican rice was bomb as well. The beans were like a pork n beans and the salad was pretty much a house salad. My Grandpa had a tri tip sandwich and he enjoyed the Sammy. Our friend ribs, greens, Jamaican rice and beans. From what our buddy said "the ribs are really good". There was some booths that sold clothes and some had where you can get your hair did. There was live entertainment and it was under a big tent. So you wouldn't be in the sun. Also the water fountain was on for the kids to have fun in the sun. So yeah, I had a great time. We'll definitely be back next year on August 1st. Hope to see you there. There will be live entertainment throughout the day including various cultural performances, vendor booths, food booths, an art exhibit and cultural booths. It's a good family event. They have several bouncy houses and arts and crafts for the kids to stay occupied. Try to come early because parking is limited. You can bring your own lawn chairs so you can enjoy the entertainment and hang out. There's lots of local businesses that give away free stuff.

The festival started out as a community fireworks show way back in the days of the of Y2K. As a youngling, I "ooh!"-ed, "awe!"-d, and "whoa!"-ed at such a spectacle. I was happy with just the fireworks show. BUT Livingston has gone above and beyond these recent years. They've added food vendors, live music and a carnival area filled with lights and rides. This festival does not disappoint!!! Especially with free admission!!! Nowadays I don't just feel happy with the fireworks show; I feel lucky This festival is a real attraction that anyone who is near the neighborhood should definitely check out and check in.
