We were met at the door by an elderly man who we assumed was the proprietor. He loudly explained to us in very condescending english for the entire restaurant to hear that we had to order 2 dishes each and that it would be more economical for us to purchase a bottle of wine than order a glass each. It was clear he judged us as low budget uneducated Americans. It was very embarrassing. This is our third trip to visit Montalcino. We usually come to stay for 1 to 2 weeks every 4 years because we love the place, the people and the wine, so this restaurant is definitely an exception to all our wonderful experiences in this lovely place. For the over $200 we paid for our meal, we suggest you try Re di Macchia to enjoy wonderful food and service for half the price instead. If it is a view you are after, then Belvedere definitely has better food, prices and service a few doors away.

Because of COVID we have not been back but I am recommending it to some friends who are going over next month. It was and amazing experience!! The food was out of this world, very unique and absolutely delicious. I can say the same for the wines we tasted and ordered to be sent back to California. We will definitely go back there, perhaps while visiting Italy next month. A real WIN in the wine and food department!!!

Very cozy, family-owned restaurant with great prices and nice Tuscan cuisine…read more We stopped here for a lunch after we had visited Duomo. Very friendly service. Relatively fast. I've heard that most of the customers tend to be locals, although they were mostly tourists (and mostly American) when I visited. The pastas looked very good and if I were to go again, I would get the ravioli or the fettuccine. My friend and I both got the veal (9.50euro), which was more like a stew. A lot of meat, although I'm not a huge meat eater. My friend eats a lot of meat though and he said it was alright. We probably wouldn't get this again and would've preferred something else had we known. Some of the slices were just far too fatty for my taste. But it was soft meat that was easily chewed and the stew sauce was good with the bread. Would have also liked fresher bread. It was crisp and hard, especially considering they charge a 1 euro cover for the bread. Overall, not a bad place. And a good break from all the pasta/pizza we've been having. But it wasn't anything special from what we had. Great prices though, only 23 euro for everything, including the wine which was very good and 4.50 euro for 1/2 liter.

Lovely! We had to do laundry a block down the street. There was little English, but they brought…read moreus nice house wine, a lovely bread, cheese and meat tray and we adored watching the neighborhood community here. This is a family restaurant (no really little kids) with teens playing cards across the street, groups of old men chatting, old women chatting. Utterly charming and very Italian. Just need to say due vino Rosso per favore...
