North lakes can be a bit of a maze to most (myself included) but Meatland is luckily not far from one of the Motorway exits. It is within eye shot of costco and bunnings. Parking is off road in a carpark at the front of the store. The shop area is much smaller than other wholesale butchers but stocks a large variety. I was impressed with the quality and the prices were fantastic, much more reasonable than the supermarkets. Today i picked up chicken breasts for 8.99/kg, and have previously been buying them in a supermarket for 14.99/kg. There was also a large variety of sausages to pick from and they stocked boerwors for those South African expats living in Brisbane. They had a mix of grain fed beef and also grass fed beef for those paleo people like myself. One tip when visiting this store is to bring your own jumper or jacket, and if you forget you can grab a quick $2 coffee or hot chocolate from the till area. Staff are friendly and enthusiastic about discussing cooking methods and recipes.

One of my favourites are the pre-made Oysters Kilpatrick, you just bring them home and pop them into the oven for 10 minutes and bon a petit! These are great if you are entertaining and running short on time, just serve them up with a bottle of bubbles and you have a very impressive entrée. You can't go past the local prawns, big and full of flavour, these little beauties sell like hotcakes during peak holiday periods so make sure you pre-order.

These guys remind me of the butchers of old (yes I'm old to). They open the door for you, genuinely talk with you about.....anything really. Carry your meat to the car (which helps with screaming kids) and always remember who you are. The meat itself is amazing. My partner is a raving hippy so for her it has to be 'organic'. Me, I don't care, as long as its red, dead and juicy I'll eat it. But the different sorts of cuts and marinates really spices up our barbies and makes 'us' look like 5 star chefs! Mmmmm....meeeeeat.

They have a very large range of meat products, including pork, lamb, beef and poultry, all at discounted prices. Although Warby's (as it is more commonly known) sells meat in small lots up to 1kg, you get bigger discounts when you buy in bulk. You can buy whole rib fillets or rumps and ask to have them sliced to your preferred thickness on site. You can buy specialty meats like ox tongue (GROSS!), rabbits and even kangaroo if you are into that sort of thing. They also have a load of smoked meats which are prepared in store. They have great offers in the local rag so keep your eyes out for a bargain (usually the North West Times and Pine Rivers Press).
