My wife found this bakery and we took a shot. Photos on website looked nice, had some decent reviews. She wanted the drip cake for her bday, this cake is $110 plus tax. I have to say, I hit some red flags just on the website. These cakes do not seem at all customizable. When I ordered the cake, I called and left a VM, and emailed to see if we can get an extra filling. I never heard from them so I figured it was not going to happen, even though I would have been happy to pay extra. The cake looked nice. The downfall is when we cut into it. As you can see, they gave me an apple core of the filling. You would basically get none on your piece but for the very tip. The whole cake was frosting. I'm a little miffed that I payed over $110 for the cake and got a thimble of filling. The cake was very meh. My wife was a bit disappointed on her bday. I won't be coming back here.
The best cupcake I have tried in the US. Moist, creamy, and very flavorful. The blueberry filling was incredible. Staff is very friendly. They have a lot of flavor options, around $5 dollars each cupcake.
Cake Affection has some if the lightest and fluffiest cupcakes in the area. They price themselves on their lighter-than-air buttercream frosting base, that makes them stand out from most cakery bakeries. Located in the Tyrone area of St Pete, they are a hidden gem that is convenient for some. Their shop is adorably updated and fun to visit, and the staff is super sweet and welcoming. My favorite items here are the cupcakes--- Of course! Whilst I am not a fan of their chocolate based items, as I find them not chocolately enough for my palette, I am still a huge fan of all of their fruit based cakes and frostings. Especially favor the strawberry and raspberry items.
Best cupcake shop I found since moving to Florida! Everything is freshly baked and beautifully presented. I been to this shop many times, never disappointed. It's family owned business, and they always so sweet. Unfortunately they only open 3 days of a week, if they get more business they can bake more and open their doors on more then just 3 days. Please go and give them your business! U will love everything about the shop and of course the cupcakes. Let's give them our support !
I had ordered a cake for my moms 80th birthday party at the end of March and it was the most beautiful little cake! This is my moms favorite place to get cupcakes so I had to get her cake here and I'm so glad I did! Not only was the cake gorgeous but it was so delicious as well! It was the show stopper of the party! The owners are always so kind. Ordering the cake was a breeze and picking up was a breeze too! Love this place
Oh my gawd! This place is adorable and the cupcakes are delicious. I had been meaning to visit forever and finally got there this past weekend. We ordered six cupcakes, homemade organic cotton candy and a brownie. Everything was so beyond fresh, it was insane. The brownie tasted as if it was baked an hour before I purchased it. The red velvet and the maple bacon were probably my favorite cupcakes. I wasn't a big fan of the pomegranate, but that's probably because I'm not really a fruity flavor type. I would recommend Cupcake Affection to anyone in the area and would love to have a reason to place a special party order.
I went here with my mom to get cupcakes for my birthday (you're never too old! ). The owner was really nice, gave helpful suggestions, and most importantly, the cupcakes were amazing. A great local try! (And definitely Instagram worthy)
This has been the one place everyone has been telling me to go to for YEARS now. What kept me so long was not knowing where the place is and how to get there, but, as fate would have it, one of my favorite dessert shops closed, and thus began my perilous quest (and if you drive around the Tampa Bay area, you'll know that's no exaggeration, going ANYWHERE around here is a perilous quest) to search for this shop. I also just so happened to learn how to use the GPS on my smartphone I've had for two years, so off i went. The drive really isnt that bad once you get the hang of it. The shop is rather conspicuous, so i found it tight away. I love how they have a huge assortment of cupcakes and a rotating menu of different flavors per month. The very first cupcake i zoned in on was the egg nog cupcake. I was blown away by the flavor as it captured the flavor of egg nog perfectly in both the cake AND the icing. The cake itself is very soft and the icing is smooth and velvety--not at all too sweet! They also sell french style macarons, a treat i have not had in years, and i enjoyed the delightful crisp outside and chewy inside filled with a velvety cream. These too come in many flavors and went WONDERFULLY with my cupcake! I came back for another visit to get my hands on their strawberry champagne cupcake for their January special and I am now SOLD to this place as a regular stop for a sweet fix!
So I was on vacation and had a sweet tooth and I passed this place and it was a home fun. I walked in and was greeted with a lot of energy by I believe to be the owner. Fabulous guy, he was baking and it smelled so damn good just like a bakery should. One of the recommendations was a lucky charm cupcake and wow that was delicious. This place has it all and it absolutely fantastic and I can't wait to go back.

Purchased a cupcake. Flavor truly tasted like real strawberry . Only drawback, which would cause me not to return, was price. If I knew before the server put it in a cup that the price was $6.50 I would not have purchased. My mistake. No prices were listed next to Items. read more

First time here! Tasted these cupcakes at the Yelper party and decided to add them to my list of places to try. I went on a weekend day the place was not busy at all. They had plenty of all the cupcakes on display available so I felt like I hit the jackpot. They pride themselves on the unique icing they use which a French version of buttercream and much lighter than our traditional version. I kept them cool with the AC all the way back to Tampa and dove in when I got home. First impression, they tasted exactly like I remembered. Very light almost like there is no butter lol. Don't get me wrong, the flavor was very good but as a true southerner I find it hard to stray away from down home butter-laden buttercream frosting. The red velvet and the lemon one have cream cheese frosting. Honestly I just didn't vibe with the red velvet but the lemon meringue was in the top 5 of cupcakes that I've ever had! Peanut butter and strawberry were just ok but the cake itself was delicious. Don't think I'd drive out of my way for them again but they were good. read more
I've been here twice and I'm officially hooked. The cupcakes are fresh and made to perfection. Where do I begin? The variety of cupcakes is very interesting. There is a Maple Bacon (couldn't eat it myself), Twisted Sister (chocolate and caramel), Death by Chocolate, Kentucky Bourbon, coconut flavored, etc. Every day, the menu changes. They suggested we look at their Facebook page to find out what will be on the menu each day. The cake part of each cupcake is stuffed with one of the cupcake ingredients. It is light and fluffy - just the way I like cake to be. The various frostings on the cupcake are perfection as well. They're sugary enough, as well as light. In other words, the antithesis of store bought cupcakes with the thick, way too sugary, icing. The family who owns the shop are very friendly and welcoming. The price of $3 and change per cupcake is definitely worth it. I will be back again and again! read more

My boyfriend moved into a house right next to Cake Affection, so driving by it every day was TORTURE until I finally convinced him to go in! The shop is quaint and clean. Only one table, if I recall correctly, but a beautiful set up inside. There is a chalkboard with the full menu and prices, but ask for what special flavors they baked for the day. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, especially when I couldn't decide what flavor I wanted! Cake Affection serves cupcakes, cheesecakes, cake AND cheesecake pops, key lime pie, French macarons, marshmallow treats, cupcakes in a jar, and they also serve coffee drinks. The cupcakes are displayed gorgeously on the counter with descriptions next to them. They are all first-come, first-served, and flavors are done for the day if they sell out. We decided to split a 4-box between cupcakes and cheesecakes. I chose the mint dark chocolate cupcake. They advise you to eat the cupcakes at room temperature, but I liked mine chilled. The frosting is light and fluffy, not heavy and overpowering the cake. The cake itself is moist and flavorful. You can tell a lot of love and care goes into baking the cupcakes (and all the desserts really). The cheesecakes really knock it out of the park though. They're incredibly tasty: the base is moist, the top layer is smooth and firm, and I basically had to fight my boyfriend for the last crumbs. They are described as "New York style" cheesecakes, and you can get a choice of flavored drizzle on top. We got 1 plain cheesecake and 1 raspberry drizzle on top... Very flavorful but not too sweet. I absolutely LOVED it!! The desserts are boxed in a lovely blue box with string. Their presentation makes their desserts a great gift idea (if you want to share). They also have Instagram-worthy cakes in a jar, which are very cute to give on special occasions. Cake Affection lives up to their self proclaimed "best cupcakes in the world!" read more

I do not understand how you can turn down a birthday party special order because you're "too busy" and "it has to be over $400". Ok fine. You want to establish yourself as a higher end bakery. That's fine. Just giving some feedback. Your frosting is delicious, but your cakes are all missing something. I guess no one would notice because you can douse the cakes in that wonderful frosting. Oh, and if you are such a high end bakery refusing to do orders that are not over $400, why do you give out boxes with hand stamped logos instead of special made logo boxes? That doesn't seem high end to me. You have to back it up, if you are going to dish it out. Thanks, but I guess we're going to Swah Rey. I hope you do not get to enjoy success with that kind of attitude. This was a poor choice of words for a potential customer that loves bakeries. No one wants to hear about your excuses and certainly, not the ones that alienate people. We're not cheap People when it comes to food items, but I guess you will never know for sure now. Maybe if you got custom made logo boxes, you would free up some time from hand stamping them (which don't look that great anyway). Maybe then you could accept orders without a minimum of $400, because you won't be "too busy". Just Kidding. read more
What a treat it was to come home on my birthday to a Tiffany-blue box of beautiful cupcakes from Cake Affection. So delicately were they decorated that it would have been a shame not to photograph them. I was able to muster enough self-control to snap a pic before jumping in. Choosing which to eat first was difficult. I love coconut so my eyes immediately went to the white-flaked island dream. Then there was the beautiful simplicity of the cinnamon-dusted dollop atop the apple cinnamon. Though who could resist the snazzy s'mores cake, with a chuck of chocolate towering over a sprinkled arc of graham cracker crumbs? But that lemon - it had sprinkles and a decorative flower! They were all delicious. As is the case with most bakery cupcakes, the layer of frosting was nearly as tall as the cake itself, making the treats so decadent that I could only eat half of one at a time. Fortunately this meant I had cake for a week (and it was easier to control myself!). read more

This quaint little bakery is THE BEST!! You will not be disappointed! Totally worth the drive! The cupcakes are so moist, the fillings are just right, and the icings are inventive--they take their buttercream and add flavored undertones to perfectly compliment the flavor of the cupcake. And the owners are so personable! We took all our kids and we tried Lemon Meringue, Blueberry Cheesecake, Death by Chocolate, Oh Happy Day, Peanut Butter Blossom, Pumpkin Chocolate Cheesecake, and my favorite the Apple Pie Cupcake! Oh so great! Wish we lived closer! read more

Stopped in to pick up some birthday cupcakes for my mom while we were in St. Petersburg. I found Cake Affection on Yelp, and I am SO glad I chose them. The bakery is a small shop, but the display of cupcakes is beautiful. They had several daily flavors as well as some specials. I snagged a box with 6 and was on my way. Now, I'm not a huge fan of cake, and it takes a lot for me to be impressed by desserts, but guys, these cupcakes were AMAZING. The cake was moist and rich, perfectly flavored and baked. The icing was so smooth I swear it was melting in my mouth. My only regret is that there is not a location in St. Louis, so I may never be able to taste this sweet perfection again. read more

So, I hesitated to try these cupcakes because Yelp said something about them paying for reviews (sorry yelp offering a cupcake for a review does not sound like paying, I've checked in on places solely for the free desert or discount on my meal, how is that any different?) Anywho back to the important stuff, this place has the best cupcakes in the world, I have tried two flavors and can't wait to go back and try them all!!! Never have I had a cake so moist and so perfect!!!! And the frosting? Perfect I don't even like frosting and was a bit upset at how much frosting there was on top of my cupcakes, that is until I got home, unwrapped my box of cupcakes and tried it... Just wonderful flavor and texture.... I found this place as I was looking for a place (other than publix) to do my daughters birthday cake, I tried a few cupcake (and cake) shops in the area and contrary to yelpers reviews none seemed to impress me... Until I tried Cake Affection... Now I can't wait to go back and order my cake (5 months in advance, I don't want to risk my friends and family missing out on this cake, that I am sure will be the talk of my daughters birthday) They have an extensive list of flavors and some that are seasonal... Also for your child's first birthday they offer a free smash cake for you little one to well smash... Sorry about the super long review, I was unhappy with Yelp steering people away from this awesome cake shop. If you want an awesome cake, this is the place for you!!! P.S. Check out their pictures of cakes on Facebook, you'll definitely be impressed!!! read more

Oh. My. Goodness! No diet food here! The cupcakes are delicious and all were filled. The amount of frosting was generous and the flavor options numerous. The cake was moist and we got rave reviews when we brought a dozen of these to our son's soccer team. The size of the cupcakes were a little on the small size, but that just gives you justification to try another flavor! While nit cheap at $3 each, you get what you pay for. I like supporting local, small business! Do yourself a favor and try this place out! My wife liked the Guinness cupcake best. I liked the lemon. Everyone liked the chocolate and vanilla at the game! Next time maple and bacon sounds tempting! read more
