Beware - this is a scam!!!!!!! Save your hard earned cash and loads of time begging the credit card company for a refund. Long story long: I called Abby on January 14th to inquire about her services and help for planning out my basement and a few other areas of my home. She came to my house and took some measurements and was very nice. I was even going to refer her to several friends in need of similar services. She sent me her payment terms via email and I quickly paid the deposit (which was considerable) and she scheduled a meeting for February 29th to review the plans she was putting together. She mentioned coming over before that time for additional measurements. I emailed her two weeks before the scheduled meeting to tell her of furniture changes and no response. I thought that was odd, but that we could discuss when she came for measurements or for our meeting. The meeting was set for during the work day, so both my husband and I took time out of our busy schedules and waited for her to arrive. Well, she never showed. I called her and got her voicemail and left a message. Realizing that I may have been duped, I sent her an email the following day requesting a refund. She has since never responded. She absolutely did not do any work for us, and I have not spoken to her since she ran off with the funds I sent her. I have since contacted the credit card company and reported fraud. If this is a legitimate business, which I doubt - this woman is incredibly disorganized and inconsiderate of your time.

I used Abby as a decorator for my home when we moved in 4.5 years ago. She was nice, easy to communicate with and I loved her design style. She helped me complete a few rooms with stuff I already had and helped design some rooms from scratch. When we got to my dining room she picked out paint and I never heard from her again. Countless texts, calls, emails to finally get a few months later an apology, but no explanation. I chalked it up to her having something potentially serious going on in her personal life and wished her well. Fast forward to the second week of April, 2018. I had my third baby and first girl. I was SO excited to design a nursery for her. I looked around and couldn't find a decorator whose design aesthetic I liked as much as Abby's. I'd seen via Instagram that she had been working quite a bit on different projects, and decided to reach out and give it another go. She was very prompt in responding, came over to my house when my daughter was 2 weeks old, held her in the nursery and we chatted design. It felt normal and professional. She came back a few weeks later and presented me with the design and sent via email the cost. I paid half of it and she told me she would order everything and schedule an install day. 2 months later (end of June) she came by with a rug and mirror. She told me the other stuff was ordered (lamp, art, crib sheets, fabric, decor) and when she had it she would be back. I received the other half of the bill and paid it. I contacted her seven times via text, six phones calls and numerous emails, and failed to get a response. I decided I would try and finish this project on my own and I reached out to my community Facebook page for help sourcing some of the fabrics. I started receiving messages from other people asking if it was Abby Manchesky that I had hired because she did the same to them. Designers and trades people in the area told me that they had also heard she had done this to others. One woman contacted me and said it wasn't until she threatened taking legal action and filing a police report that she had her money back. I decided I would do the same. I had a friend who is a lawyer draft something up (which I never had to use.) I contacted Abbey and said I was filing a police report and had a lawyer. I said that the number of people that told me this had happened to them or someone they knew was astonishing and what she was doing was wrong. I had a check in my mailbox the next day, no apology or explanation, and I did not take legal action. I really hesitated to post this. I want to believe that she is not doing this to people on purpose, and just really bad at business? But I'm just not sure. I do NOT want this to happen to others and hope this will help people either stay clear and use one of the other wonderful people in the area to help them decorate their home, or for her to significantly change her business practices.

Fast forward to a year past the time it was ready, a year of making small monthly payments that I couldn't afford with just my salary supporting the family of 4, payments that only added up to about half the full price, i got a call and was told I must pay the remaining balance or pay a restocking fee with the payments I've made so far. They said it was taking up space in their warehouse...its not a large chair, at all, a round swivel rocker, fits one butt...It's a great chair, but next time I'll go directly to the manufacturer, make sure these people don't get any of my money.

The pieces I saw mostly swayed more modern and a little less traditional, which is more my style anyway. Upstairs we found a coffee table that was a major upgrade from our current table, but still in our budget and actually quite affordable. It has a metal base and a glass/ceramic top that looks and feels like marble. Super sleek and sophisticated! Christine was upstairs and asked if we needed any help. We asked her about the process for purchasing as we wouldn't be able to fit the table into our car. She told us that we could pay for it and come back with a larger vehicle, or we could pay $60 for local delivery. SOLD! I am all about that convenience and for $60 they can pack and carry the pretty heavy table. We paid for our purchase and Christine was super awesome with the whole process. I am so glad we finally stopped in to Stonesthrow and I can't wait to go back! She did say that they also do special orders if you know something you want and they are able to get it in store. Highly recommend looking here instead of Wayfair etc. for a local option. They also provide interior design services!

The vendors she recommended were perfect for us. She was there for every panicked phone call from me. When I had an entire flower meeting and then I got home and completely changed my mind...she set up another meeting without making me feel like a crazy person. She really cares about what you want. AND she kept us on budget. This was important as we paid for the wedding ourselves. I would have never known what to expect to pay for what things, she helped us prioritize our budget so we could afford the things that were most important to us. She also planned our rehearsal dinner which was at an art gallery and was amazing. She even took pictures of me and my family during the rehearsal dinner. She was there to handle every little thing that came up on the day of the wedding including sewing my belt for my dress back together after I tried to alter it. She even handled a during event switch from Pepsi to Coke by my dad's request without me even knowing about it. We have been to many weddings over the years and of course we think that ours was great, but it has been over a month and we still have people calling us to tell us that it was the most amazing night. If you think about planning a wedding on your own, consider all the vendors and the coordination. You can't figure everything out from Pinterest! Do you want to spend time with your family for your wedding, or do you want to be setting up and breaking everything down? The one thing that he did contribute however, was the idea of a wedding coordinator, and then finding Elegant Events and convincing me to have a preliminary meeting with Nicole. I didn't think we needed a coordinator, especially at the extra cost, but looking back, our wedding day would have been a complete disaster without Elegant Events. She helped me every single step of the way, having never been really into weddings, I was unsure of the way things were "supposed" to go or what was traditional, professional, etc. She never once made me feel stupid for asking what I'm sure were some really dumb questions. Our decorations in our reception tent were beautiful and I'm not sure I can take any of the credit for it. Nicole has a great eye, and helped me pull everything together for the look I wanted on our big day. She kept everything on track for the rehearsal and was in touch with all of the vendors the week of the wedding; everyone knew where they were supposed to be and when. It took a huge load off of my shoulders. On the wedding day, Nicole and her team spent the majority of the day setting up the reception tent in the 90 degree heat. When the bartenders didn't come with the mixers, she fixed it. When the pizza ovens weren't working and we were behind schedule, she took care of it, while I was pretty much oblivious. She even arranged transportation for my wedding party and anyone else who needed it back to the hotel when the cab service I had contacted didn't work out. Elegant Events is no less than amazing, easy to work with and will make any event a hit :)

The initial home consultation with Paul was great. He had tons of samples and showed us many options and gave recommendations based on our needs. There was never any pressure to buy and he spent quite a bit of time going over the whole process and answering all our questions and concerns. We decided a few days later to go with FCI based on our meeting and the fact that their prices were competitive with the other quotes we received. Then things turned South. We were told it would take about 2-4 weeks to get the carpet from the factory. After a month, they contacted us and said that the factory was still back ordered and it would be another month. They were very apologetic and ended up removing the cost of moving the furniture from our bill. The carpet order finally arrived and we were set up for an install on November 3rd. The installers came out and had most of the old carpet ripped out and the new carpet pad laid and started to bring in the new carpet. They started to unroll the carpet and lo-and-behold - not the carpet I ordered! I took pictures and called Erick and explained the situation. He was very sympathetic to our situation and even offered a good discount on this carpet if that was an option for us. It was a nice carpet but we were set on getting the carpet we ordered so declined the offer. We had to live for a month on our 1st floor with only carpet pads for flooring. Not fun! They reordered the carpet and installed it on December 5th. The installation went without a hitch and the carpet looks great. Here's the best part. Sharee negotiated with Shaw Carpets and got them to pay for half of the cost of the carpet. Even though this whole situation had nothing to do with the people at FCI, they offered to cover the cost of the other half. How great is that? Would I recommend this company to my friends and family? You bet! If I need more carpet or flooring in the future you can be sure that they'll be the first ones I call. Thanks Sharee and Erick! It was great doing business with you.

We were connected with another charming and helpful designer, Jeri Lynn. She spent at least 30 minutes with us, patiently giving us the info we needed. My sense is that DeGraff understands that caring builds loyalty. I wish we could do business with them, but our builder buys direct from Shaw and Daltile. DeGraff and their staff are a class act.

The process of choosing materials for your home's counter-tops, backsplashes, and other surfaces couldn't be easier. I recall them having a good amount of "stock" surfaces to choose from when we built back in 2011, but their choices have significantly expanded since then. We were able to select from a wide variety of quartz and granite at a very reasonable price point, but they have a huge selection of materials should you want something other than their stock selections. They are also happy to price out different material choices for you before you make your final choice, which makes the process that much better. Top it off with great service and professional installation and choosing Top of the World Granite becomes a no-brainer and I can recommend them without hesitation.

But alas,... life happened... I stopped by the new apartment one day before move in and it was not cleaned after a three year stay from previous tenants. I decided to clean it myself over night. Two hours in I dropped to my knees in tears because I was disgusted and exhausted and angry at how filthy it actually was. I couldn't do this alone. This apartment needed a deep clean and more than my two hands. The next day, I made arrangements to stay in a hotel and called Nancy. She graciously fit me into her schedule at the end of the week (HINT: you need to book her weeks in advance. Her compassion for people(me) and my situation took over and she moved her schedule around to fit me in. #angel) The day comes and she was also surprised at how bad this apartment was. It took her team of three a total of 4 hours to clean my average sized one bedroom apartment. That's 12 HOURS of cleaning!!! She even cut me a small discount despite her having to reschedule other clients and because she felt so bad about my situation. She said that that apartment was her DIRTIEST JOB EVER. Needless to say,... my apartment is now impeccable. It is SO clean. The service and kindness I received from Nancy is unforgettable. She prioritized me. She even talked me through items that she could see that I had an attachment to and was very understanding about the possibility of wanting to keep them. We organized things into piles and by the end of the session I had so many items that were taking up needless space that I could now donate. She even asked me the measurements of my dresser drawers and we discussed better ways to organize my "new" wardrobe. After the sessions she did all the work of researching the correct sized drawer organizational items and sent me the links so I could purchase them! Definitely would recommend her services since she really helps and talks you through the declutterring process and even takes out the hassle of finding the organizational items by doing the research for you and sending links! She's amazing!

She then visited our home and helped us narrow down our choices further! The communication was consistent, helpful, and informative. Everyone we encountered from Verhey was so kind. The installers did an excellent job with our carpets and were so respectful and courteous while in our home. They thoroughly cleaned up after the installation, kept us informed throughout the process, and gave us some leftover carpet for future use.
