The cost came to €40 which is not cheap, but certainly worth it.....

They are SO very warm, so very kind, so very welcoming and friendly. It's a small restaurant with a lot of heart. They bring you the fish to choose from and they grill it up over a wood fire - you can taste the smokiness. I believe they only season the fish with flake salt. I'm getting ahead of myself. First they bring bread and olives and sheep milk cheese to nibble on. We ordered the clams - pretty sure it's cooked with wine, butter, garlic, cilantro & garlic and they give you a nice sized lemon wedge to squeeze all over it. SO GOOD. Back to the fish - that first bite blew my mind. It was so fresh, so perfectly salted, so smokey, so melt in your mouth. Whole boiled potatoes come to the table and a simple mixed salad with romaine, tomatoes, beets, come purple cabbage, cucumber. We used the olive oil and vinegar on the table, salt & pepper on the boiled potatoes and man was it tasty....so simple perfect. At the end of the meal, they brought us tiny terracotta cups that they fill with pomegranate & cinnamon schnapps that is such a lovely finish alongside some espresso that we ordered. We are honestly thinking about returning to Nazaré just to have this meal again before we leave Portugal. We can't stop thinking about it.

We were seated outside in the cliffs side of the restaurant and the views overlooking the beach were just amazing (sadly...I was so engaged in our conversation I only took food pix). So we are in a LOT of places in Portugal, but this was easily in my top two meals. Wifey had an amazing bowl of clams with butter, wine, garlic and herbs and I had a grilled skewer of squid, shrimp, and sausage. OMG, OMG, OMG it was delicious. Seemed like a really easy dish to make and the seasoning seemed simple but it was amazing. The best part was how fresh both of our meals were...as our guide said, it was all probably in the water 8 hours before it was cooked. If you go to Obidós I highly recommend Arimar. When he finally did take our order the food took longer than expected to get to us. Thank goodness they placed bread, olives, and cheese on the table without asking us if we need them (they charge extra for each of those items); honestly, it saved me from hangry so not mad at them for that. My hubby and I chose to split the sea bass (whole fish) with a side of yellow rice. I mentioned the rice to the waiter twice. When the food came I saw potatoes (automatically comes with the fish) but no rice so I asked where it was? He left and then circled back and said it would be another 15 minutes- I almost threw a fit y'all. I ordered the rice in Spanish and English so I'm wondered if it was a language barrier. At this point I was about to give this place 2-3 stars until I tasted the food and my heart started to sing. This food was amazing - def worth the wait and all of the bad service. As the meal progressed the service got a little better. I ended up ordering two desserts a pudding (not the chocolate or mango one but the third flavor they had) and some type of baked cake with a gooey center (looks like they get it from a local bakery- it's in a bakery box, individually stored)- both were great. Under normal circumstances the food alone would have earned them 5 stars but I couldn't ignore the service (even though it got better towards the end). Hands down would come here again- the food was that great.

We told the server that we were referred by the place we were saying and he arrogantly said " Everyone recommends us"like he could care less. His superior and snarky attitude was a real turnoff. We were not super hungry so we ordered a few starters and some drinks. The server who brought our food was very attentive and kind. The food wasn't outstanding, earthmoving or even unique.
