We have stayed at the stagecoach several times over the past several years when we visit in the area. Unfortunately the state of the inn has really gone downhill. While our room was clean, it was very dark. The lighting was very minimal. It would be nice to have brighter lighting in the rooms. The decor is very dated. It could use a bit of updating. It is reminiscent of your grandmother's house. The family sitting area/games room smells very damp and foosty. We ate in the restaurant several times this recent visit. The steak and ale pie was very good, but it was not very hot in temperature. It could have been warmed more. Another night I ordered the burger. It was absolutely inedible! It was like eating rubber. They ran out of several puddings. It was supposed to be £3.50 for 3 scoops of ice cream, £1.25 for 1 scoop. I asked for one scoop chocolate and one scoop raspberry honeycomb swirl, and they brought me the wrong flavors! When I told them that I asked for different flavors the wait staff said no, that they brought me what I asked for. And they did not have anymore raspberry honeycomb anyway. Then they charged £3.50 for two small spoonfuls of the ice cream. I cannot recommend this inn or the restaurant any longer. I think in the future we will rather stay in Inverary from now on which is a shame, because cairndow is such a lovely little village. read more
