Nothing better than sitting outside in the town square and people watching while eating so pretty good food! Cafe Vivaldi sprawls over most of the main square of Roskilde. Because it has three different seating areas, they ask that you find a seat, read the menu and then come up to the bar in the center of the square to order. If you haven't identified a seat- they cannot serve you as they must enter something into their system to let the server know where to take your food. You will pick up your own drinks at the bar along with a number placard that you will place of our table. In about 15 minutes, a server will bring you your food. The menu is varied from sandwiches to salads to even burritos and nachos ( who knew these were popular in Denmark?). And if you need a menu in English- they do have them at the bar. I had an voucher for a free brunch. Did not even cover the drinks. Prices are high, and not a complete success every visit. The brunch buffet could have a bigger selection, the bread was really good though. And warm! The staff is nice, but service could be faster. They had some problems with the technology, and we're a little confused about who had to do what. I like the location, and the food is average. Normal café food, for normal price. A very good location, where you can eat outdoors in the seating area that overlooks the cathedral and square. A varied menu, that interestingly throws in burritos and nachos - my wife tried the nachos and enjoyed them. I got the appetizer platter which actually gives you a pretty decent amount of food, covering a nice variety of meats, shrimps, eggs, then things like mozzarella sticks thrown in there. You order at the bar in the square and then they bring the food to you. Since it is more of a limited service place, I would say that food and drinks were a bit overpriced, but an enjoyable meal. 3.5 stars. read more

Café Vivaldi serves good food (and drinks) quickly, and for a very fair price. Great service, and you do always get a good amount of food. The place is always well crowded during the lunch and dinner hours, even though the restaurant / café has two floors for serving (and actually two restaurants in Roskilde city); so keep that in mind, and maybe reserve a table, if you plan to go more than 5 people or so. I have actually never tried to be rejected in the door, but better safe than sorry. In the Spring and Summer seasons; they do also have a large open serving area, both just outside the venue itself, and in the middle of the pedestrian zone, where a local permanent bar is ready to take your order, or serve a drink. Here you can enjoy your food under a parasol, with a view of the Roskilde Cathedral, the Former City Hall of Roskilde, and Stændertorvet in general. read more

In summer the location is great for sitting outside and having drinks. In winter I'm not so much of a fan for the price better food and drink can be had elsewhere. read more
