Breakfast tower for two people

Location is beautiful and the breakfast tower was plenty for two people. Would love to come back, very convenient for English speaking visitors.

Two eggs with bacon, croissant and latte.

Schafheutle is an excellent cafe to start your day with. This cafe has something for everyone in the morning, whether that is a delicious coffee with a pastry or bread or for someone looking for a larger breakfast with eggs and bacon. The atmosphere is wonderful, with people of all ages chatting away and enjoying their morning before hiking to the Heidelberg castle or just walking around the shops on the main street. The location os excellent and easy to find. It feels like a blast from the past so you will get your typical European charm if you dine here. Would recommend calling ahead for parties of 5 or more, for two people it shouldn't be a problem.

The breakfast here is so filling.

Thank god for German breakfasts loaded with three different pastries/breads, a cute little egg in a cup, and a selection of cold cuts and cheeses to keep you sated until your next meal. Service is incredibly efficient and friendly and you definitely won't be disappointed with the quality of the food and the beverages. All that (see photo) for 12 Euros! Not bad. This place is unfortunately cash only so remember to bring your miscellaneous coins. Also they have literally so many pastries and chocolates and delicious sugary desserts and plenty of seating.

We had breakfast/brunch at Schafheutle twice while in Heidelberg. The food is delicious and fresh. They have a lovely sitting area enclosed with windows as well as those out of the sunroom-esque vibe. The front of the store/restaurant is full of cakes, breads, chocolates, jams, and candies. I really liked Schafheutle. The only downside was the service in the restaurant portion. Although it was efficient, it was not much on the friendly side on either visit. This place is 5-star worthy if service were to improve.

Absolutely delicious. A bit more then I like to spend on breakfast but well worth it. Seating on the Hauptstraße, inside, or a lovely courtyard. It was a bit of a wait to be greeted but I saw our server hustling around the breakfast rush, so that was fine. When she got over she was very courteous and our food came out perfect and hot! We had fresh pressed orange juice, hot tea with rock Sugar, crescent, quiche, soft boiled eggs, and salmon with breakfast potatoes. Sehr lecker! I would highly recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing breakfast with outstanding breakfast options!

This is an old Heidelberg standard. Friends who lived here and left in 1980 say that they spent much time here. I was only here for coffee and ice cream with strawberries so I really can't comment on the food. The place is much larger than it appears from the street. Service was prompt and friendly. The shop area had some nice things to buy for gifts.

The store front.

A very nice cafe on the main street in Heidelberg. There's a wide selection of sweets, coffee, and tea for an afternoon relaxing session under the sun. There's also a garden in the back of the coffee shop with more seats. The garden is very well maintained. The staff in the restaurant were also very friendly.

Really nice place, we went there for breakfast. In Yelp it was written that they are open at 8 which they were not. They opened at 9:30. We ordered scrambled egg with ham and a latte for 2 people and all came up to 20 Euro which was a little pricy. But considering the place which was really nice with good food quality, it was satisfying.

Afternoon "coffee and cake" on the Haubtstraße.

I had to get to work between seven and 730 each day and this bakery opens at 6:15 AM each day, which was perfect to be able to leave between 630 and 6:45 AM each day. The staff inside is super friendly and she speaks English very well to be able to explain what is inside each of the pastries since nothing is labeled. It's very helpful since you can't tell from just looking at them what it's filled with. I would point to a pastry and she would tell me if it had fruit nuts, custard, or chocolate inside. They also have an espresso machine and it makes the espresso very hot, which was perfect since I had to drive about 40 to 45 minutes. They have a large variety of breads and pastries. Things are priced very well and this is a tiny shop with just standing room inside but outside they have a few tables if you want to eat versus take it on the go. I was mostly taking it on the go and eating it while driving in the car since everything is packaged in individual bags that can be used as a rapper. She would also tell me if things were very typical in Germany because I wanted to try a lot of the local pastries and foods. This was the perfect way to start each morning. This is not in your typical downtown of Heidelberg and is on a side street which was very close to my Hilton hotel. The parking is a little tight and hard to find, but there is usually a spot you can stop at for just a few quick minutes needed to order and go. Everything was baked fresh and tasted really good. There is a nut bar that is coming in Germany called Walnut Kuchen that was very delicious and to my surprise not very sweet although it is dense so it will fill you up. It's very similar to Nussecken (German Nut Corners) but was rectangular not a triangle. I also loved the pretzels with cheese (Käsebrezel). Great bakery to checkout if in Heidelberg a bit west of the old town.

There were many sweets and breads to try and the staff were incredibly friendly. I highly recommend trying this place.

I kind of assumed with a French theme and so much French on the menu it would be easier to order, but we had some mixups that never got fully sorted out. The flat white and cappuccino were fine, but somehow my husband's pain au chocolat became a heiße schokolade (hot chocolate), all the more confusing because the cafe menu lists only chocolat chaud. I tried to order a croissant pistache, which was sold out, and I don't think they understood I then wanted a second pain au chocolat instead. We didn't get a receipt so I really don't know what we DID order, and when I went to retrieve the mysteriously missing pastries I only got one pain au chocolat and the staff acted like it was an apology for the hot chocolate which I tried to explain we hadn't ordered. The three drinks we ended up with were great, the one pastry was great, but I don't think I'd attempt coming back here unless I worked on my German first or came at a much less busy time.

This is a great place to indulge in a treat and enjoy a coffee. The prices are moderate- macaroons cost 1.40€ each but there are discounts the more you buy. My chocolate mousse (Perou) and a Latte Macchiato cost about 6.50€. The place inside is simple-white walls, back chairs, a few pillows- which was kind of bland. However, the lovely desserts will keep me coming back regardless!
