Creedence Clearwater Revival war hier wohl gerade aufgelegt, denn das Album zieht mit. Die Stimmung war genial. Sonnenlicht kommt durch die großen Fenster, vorbei an den Palmen, direkt auf meinen Kaffee am Fenstertresen. Der Blick in die Münchner Seitenstraßen entspannen. Dazu der nette Inhaber, Schwede, kein alter Schwede. Ein jung gebliebener mit seiner südamerikanischen Frau machen hier ein Cafe zum Erlebnis. Frische Säfte, leckerer und starker Tobak ähm Kaffee, genialste Oldies via Vinyl und südamerikanische Küche. Man mag die zwei auch direkt. Sehr herzlich und offen. München kann das! But the menu felt unique and interesting enough to visit. I got the Apple Almond Affair - stacks of pancakes, roasted apples and almonds - interlaced with vanilla cream, whipped cream and a side of vanilla ice cream. The Palm Beach - a coconut infused chia pudding with fruit. And - the Hermosa Beach - hash browns topped with mushrooms, onions, egg, bacon and cheese. Additionally - coffee! I was very satisfied with all the flavors - as I mentioned - better than California actually offers. The apple pancake dish was decadent but not over the top intensely rich as one may expect it to be. The hash brown dish was super flavorful and pleasantly presented, with fried eggs perfectly adorning the stack. And the chia pudding was also delicious (covered in bananas - which I removed for myself but were eaten by my companion). Currents and other fruit was atop this dish - a lovely flavorful pudding. Service was outstanding, welcoming. Seating - busy morning but no real wait. Cash only on this day due to network issues but that was ok. Just a very inviting space with lovely people and uniquely outstanding food. Must visit in Munich no matter where you are from!

Every diner I've been to back home has Heinz ketchup and perhaps a hot sauce like Tabasco or Cholula. Every other table in sight also lacked these items, which definitely made my meal less enjoyable. We need seasoning beyond salt and pepper if we are going to call this place California-inspired. Service-wise....it's Germany, not California. Leave your expectations for cheerful and attentive service back home. It ain't happening here. Lastly, cash only? Even cash only joints here tend to post a sign somewhere to alert you in case you don't know. We found ourselves scrambling due to this policy. We liked it so much we ate here every day we could. The meals are terrific with vegetarian and fantastic pasta options as well as a great meat dish. And don't stint on the deserts. They are terrific. Josefa was a high point in our visit to Munich.

I don't think they operate THAT kind of establishment. The bathroom is a journey back to 1913, but in a cute, nostalgic way. You'll see what I mean.
