Located right next door to a Turkish restaurant, I've passed this place several times before I…read morerealized that it wasn't part of the Turkish restaurant. For some reason, this time, I actually noticed the sign painted on the window stating that they specialize in Syrian cuisine. Ok, interest peaked. Decided to get take-away this time. Settled on the shwarma plate with lamb. The plate comes with salad and hummus. The hummus was delicious! Rich, creamy, with the slightly-sour tang of tahini and garlic. The lamb was pretty good, but I would return for the hummus. Also, the owner (I think) added - for free - a dessert to my bag. I do not recall the name, but think shredded wheat soaked in honey/rose water syrup - really good!

Menu change weekly and you can choose 2 course or 3 course meal. Very good price, portion size and really good food. I was amazed how polenta can be so tasty and fluffy when I had it here. All dishes were creative and very pretty and great flavor. I was so happy to find this place. Make sure to make a reservation. It seems very popular. Highly recommended. PS: Parking is a bit difficult as the street parking seems to fill up very quickly.

Review is based on a fabulous dinner in the hotel restaurant. Our first choice was "closed for…read morecompany holiday", so German friends recommended this place - what a find! Located in an old farm house on top of a hill, the views - even on a rainy day - were fantastic. Old-school, rustic southern German food (think deer, wild boar, veal liver, mushroom soup with cream, etc.) can be found here. Large, hearty portions. Delicious. Service is fast and friendly, and our dinners - pork medallions in mushroom sauce, lamb chops with rosti, and salad with grilled deer and fried quail eggs were spot-on. Top that with an interesting bottle of an unfamiliar wine varietal (Regent) and ice cream sundaes, it was pretty perfect. And very reasonably priced - dinner for 4 with a bottle of wine = 120 Euros. After dinners in Switzerland, this is bargain basement prices. It's a bit of a trek - especially in the rain - but definitely worth a visit.

My new review of a place I used to have in my top list of breakfast places in region Solothurn…read more Sadly this restaurant has changed hands a few times since I first started coming here so it's never sure what to expect. The first change came with a few positives like free water that was infused with mint, cucumber, etc. , an all you can eat breakfast including pancakes, coffees, eggs/toast, bacon albeit at a higher price but worth it. This last change was one we cannot accept. No more all you can eat at a higher price than the all you can eat was before. The pancakes are stiffer and without taste. The maple syrup isn't real maple syrup at all but some kind of sweet (most likely corn syrup) slightly caramel tasting stuff that is quite deceiving if you don't know what real maple syrup tastes like. Everything had a nice presentation but the taste/quality isn't worth it. The bacon half burnt/half completely limp, the toast cold and tasteless. I can say the scrambled eggs were the only thing that passed the test.
