I have been to this cafe 4 times now and every time I have been one member of staff or other has…read morebeen rude to me. Today it was because I stayed until 5pm even though the cafe shuts at 5pm. I was asked why I was still there when all of their other customers leave early. He literally raised his voice at me because he was so angry. I answered that if they wanted to close at 4.30pm then why don't they, but if they close at 5pm then surely it's OK to stay until 5pm? Obviously not! They made me feel very unwelcome from 4.40pm onwards (even though they'd just served me with another cup of tea 5 mins earlier). The door was left open and it was freezing (when I got to my car it said it was 2 degrees outside) and when I asked for it to be closed I got a dirty look of off the waitress. It was opened again very soon after and I had to sit there with my coat and scarf on. They kept switching the lights off and on trying to give me the hint to leave (even though I hadn't finished my tea) and even swept under my chair and table while I was still sitting there. Why on earth don't they just shut at 4.30 then?! The other times they were rude were when telling me they didn't have any apple crumble left (in fact they hardly ever have any puddings left when I been in there), when asking which pudding it is that are homemade (as I prefer them and some were, I wasn't sure which), and when being told that if I ordered the omelette and chips without the chips I would still be charged the same price. They said it in a way that implied I was cheap skate, when in actual fact I was trying to stick to a diet! So 4 out of 4 = rude service, with the exceptionally rude one being today. I will never go back again.

The waitress remembered I didn't have milk in my tea from the 1st time I'd been there! There wasn't any hassle about changing the fixed breakfast to suit my food intolerances. You get the big fat 'proper' sausages too. In fact, all the ingredients are of a high quality. All this and it's one of the cheapest cafes around! Couldn't recommend it highly enough. They are so friendly I feel like one of the family! My only regret is that I can't get there often enough!!
