But what makes it unique is that it specialies in local produce and will actually buy stock from locals (grown in allottments or gardens) for sale in the shop - what a fantastic concept and very much in line with the spirit of the age. It's not cheap but what it sells is well worth paying the extra for.

Most of all, though, the reason I truly love this place is because of the integrity of the people who run it. You see, I was here for a business meeting, and absentmindedly left my laptop underneath one of the tables. I only realized this after taking the train all the way back to London. Upon arriving home, I completely flipped out when I remembered the my brand new MacBook Pro was still at the restaurant. After a frantic call to All Bar One, the manager, Sonny, assured us that the laptop had been located and safely stored in the restaurant's office. Heart attack averted. When we finished our drink we went inside to pay and I asked her if it was possible if we could have the exact same balcony table, she replied not necessarily the same table, at this point an older man from behind the bar commented "we cannot guarantee a balcony table at all" we looked at the waitress and said "Oh, we thought you confirmed a balcony table" she looked at the man who then commented "no, I have allocated them downstairs" we responded to the waitress that we particularly wanted a balcony table therefore any availability for the following evening, she looked and confirmed availability when the man (barman/manager?) said 'No, I told you we cannot guarantee balcony tables, I allocate on the day, therefore will decide tomorrow, do you want a booking or not" I asked why he was being so rude, my husband then said we just want to pay and leave, at this point he became verbally aggressive and told us to get out, my husband said to the embarrassed waitress please just take the payment we want to leave, the man just repeated "get out I do not want your money, get out and do not come back". We have absolutely no idea what triggered his shocking behaviour towards us as we were just trying to make a reservation. Fortunately we do not encounter this type of aggression usually and went on to have a very lovely Birthday dinner in Brown's, excellent food, good ambience and friendly staff.

The employee made eye contact with me then proceeded to take another person's order (someone not in the queue). At first I waited because it may have been a misunderstanding. Then this employee makes eye contact with me again and proceeds to take the order of the person directly behind me. I don't know if it was because I am an Asian woman or American but it was my first time experiencing such treatment after three months in England. Then after I finally reluctantly ordered my mac n cheese while contemplating the reason for this absurd service it further saddened me because the food was extremely salty. Never again
