Absolutely delightful! Tucked away in a pleasant little neighborhood, with charm for both locals and tourists. The avocado toast won me over from being a skeptic of the concept. The poached eggs and coffee I had when I came back the next day were just what I needed for a busy day of taking in the sights. We came here 3 the four days we were in town, and enjoyed "top of the class" service and food every time. A small dining area, so I wouldn't push my luck with a group of more than 4 people. Wonderfully quaint coffee and pastry cafe located in the Shepard's Market district. It was within walking distance to my flat and was the perfect stop on a chilly, rainy London afternoon. The coffee was excellent and the carrot cake was one of the best I've tried. This little cafe serves lunch as well. This is an adorable cafe with great food, drinks, and pastries. It is perfect for a quick coffee or a casual lunch. I believe they also serve breakfast. I tried their tricolore salad which was simple and delicious, with their soup of the day which was a vegetable soup with semolina gnocchi. To drink, I had their carrot, orange, ginger juice which was very refreshing. Overall, this is a great cafe that tends to get pretty busy around noon. We came here twice for breakfast and both times it was great. The waitress has more energy than the Energizer bunny I swear! The coffee was absolutely wonderfully tasty and strong. The oatmeal was great and plenty of it. Bananas and walnuts on top and quite creamy. On the second day I asked if I could have the vegan plate for breakfast even though it wasn't supposed to be available til lunch. (trying to eat healthier!) She said sure. It was wonderful, and had all kinds of great, healhy vegetables like kale, broccoli, beets, carrots, avocado and it was lightly dressed and not too salty. Light and airy on the inside. My husband adored his burrata and prosciutto on foccacia and said the coffee was good. I had a less-than-stellar experience as I ordered the roasted butternut squash salad... and there was no butternut. I pointed this out to the waitress and she at first tried to tell me there was, pointing to some roasted veggies on the plate. Uhhh, I'm not stupid. So I asked her again and she took the dish back and then returned to tell me that the place was actually out of squash. WHY DIDN'T THEY TELL ME THAT TO BEGIN WITH?! I just continued eating the rest of the salad and she apologized and took £1 off. Fair enough. The other really annoying thing is it's a cash-only place. Was in the area and walked passed, checked the yelp reviews (as normal) and decided to go in for a coffee, but the hot food looked so appealing, I had to try. On the waitresses recommendation I had the pork belly with a Waldorf salad and roasted veg (see pic) it was very tasty, but there was so much I could finish it myself. Stopped in at least four times in the five days we stayed in Mayfair...yes, we loved Caffe In! First visit we stopped for dessert and coffee after dinner. Ordered a slice of chocolate cake and after my first bite, practically melted off the bench in ecstasy. Dense, rich, smooth, decadent, amazing. Boyohboyohboyohboyohboy it was gooooooood. Next time we stopped in just for coffee to go and service was friendly and prompt (this was the norm in our experiences there). Grabbed a quick dinner here another night prior to heading to the West End. I had the chicken curry and overall, I'd give it 3.5 stars - pretty darn good! However, after the abysmal Indian we'd had at two other Mayfair spots, it was head-and-shoulders better. Good stuff, and the portion was quite filling. Last stop, late night dessert again. After swooning over the chocolate cake, of course we had to come back to try the lemon! It was a little dry on the outside but the flavor was nice and fresh lemony...totally different texture than the chocolate, it almost had a granular cornmeal mouth-feel. Very good flavor! read more

The staff came over a minute or two after we sat to take our orders. We weren't ready yet; we hadn't prepared our song and dance routine to present our desires. Then, they didn't come over for a long while, and we called out to them (kindly) as the dashed by to other tables. It's a small place and it shouldn't be that hard to be attentive. We both ordered cappuccinos. Mine came out promptly and was beautifully crafted. My friend, who ordered after a trip to the restroom had to wait a long time for hers. When it did come out, it was spilling over the edges and naked without its chocolate on top. The foam on mine was more bubbly than smooth, but it tasted good. Then I got soup. Squash soup. Twas delicious, but only lukewarm, which considering it was icy outside, did less than I'd hoped to warm me bones. However, they had great photos lining the walls, and a nice atmosphere. I can't say enough about the wonderful English Breakfast we had here, for only 9 pounds each! My husband had the regular and I had the vegetarian, with goat's cheese instead of sausage. The tables by the window provide a great view of this little corner of Shepherd's Market. On a Tuesday morning, we could have watched the ballet of delivery vans for hours. They don't bother or hassle you if you sit down for a long time and only have a coffee. I use to pass by this place every day since I live next door, but I never tried. Today I decided to come here for lunch with some friends and we had a very good experience. The place is not big, but it is full of light from the big windows overlooking shepherds' market. The food menu has a huge variety of options (many vegetarians also) all looking good. We went for a salad but everything was really appealing. My friend also had a slice of a chocolate cake that was amazing! Prices are okay, salad, mineral water and coffee £13. I like the way they don't scrimp on the good stuff in a salad (like mozeralla!) in favour of the cheaper 'filler' items (lettuce). Service has always been friendly and informal (standard Cafe service!) with a good set of specials described by serving staff. I like the photos that are on the walls in this place too, give it an arty feel! It is a bit pricey, but then again, it is Mayfair! read more

I came here for lunch on Monday and despite the crowd, they managed the take away line quickly. The cafe was packed, and adding a takeaway line into an already cozy space was definitely uncomfortable. That said, it was worth it. This place is like a more authentic version of Digg In. For takeaway lunch, you can pick a protein and 2 of many lovely looking salads for 10-12 pounds. Good deal for fresh food, especially in Mayfair. I ordered the chicken which was stuffed with mozzarella and tomatoes, with cauliflower and cabbage salads for sides. The salads were perfectly good - very simple and healthy. The chicken was the real standout: tender, flavorful, and the slim layer of cheese inside was delicious. It even stayed warm and melted on my rainy walk back to my office. My only complaint was that I found a small bone in the meat. The owner was also wonderful. She said she was visiting from Spain and was very helpful and friendly. Cafe In was one of the first places I visited when I moved to the area because of its sunny yellow walls filled with arty photography and its friendly feel. The cappuccino is good, as are the fresh-squeezed juices. I haven't had much food there, though what I have had wasn't great (the vegetarian breakfast).
