This is a cute little sandwich shop that I would of gave more stars to if they cleaned the flies off of the light chandeliers when you first walk in or removed the dead rotting Halloween pumpkins that are placed in the front entrance. I ordered the vegetarian bean wrap which was tasty and my sister had the grilled cheese with bacon. They serve a tiny pasta cup with the wrap that had tuna it and hers came with raw vegetables. I don't know why you would serve tuna pasta with a vegetarian dish but they did and I didn't eat it. Most likely will not go back to this place. Sweet little sandwich spot right on Main St. From the moment you come up the sidewalk and see the well cared for flower beds and tasteful table arrangements you know you're in a place that takes pride and care. The menu offers a ton of choices to please all palates and many dietary restrictions or choices. The mango/ lemonade ice tea was cold and perfectly refreshing on a hot summer day. The staff were patient and helpful and had wonderfully positive attitudes. It seemed that they were eager and ready to help their guests. Food was delicious. Ok. I'm giving this place four stars with a caveat. A friend and I went for lunch today, and I got The Bleu, which was yummy, but my friend got The Hoagie and was a little disappointed with the meat to bread ratio. Also, they were out of the chips that they normally give with their lunches, and instead of telling me to choose a bag from their selection of Deep River chips a courtesy to make up for the lack of chips, I had to pay for a bag. It just didn't seem customer-friendly. The garden seating is cute, but I'm not sure I'd return. read more

After waiting 45 min for my take out order (2salads and sandwich) I received my food with no explanation or apology that a mistake had been made, causing the delay. Cafe sol is a solid lunch spot in beautiful downtown Niantic. I particularly like to eat here during the summer since there is a lovely patio outside. All of the food here is fresh made and healthy so you can feel good about your meal. They also try to source from local sites and strive to offer as many organic components as possible. In addition to the food they also make really good coffee based drinks and chai. The service is typically pretty quick unless they are slamming busy but that is to be expected. The last time I ate here I had the blue sandwich which had turkey, prosciutto, fig jam and a blue cheese crema. It was the perfect combo of savory and sweet and was fresh tasting and not too heavy. Definitely check this spot out for lunch if you find yourself in the area. read more

Great sandwiches with fresh ingredients. They also have an awesome outdoor patio to enjoy your lunch during warmers months. I always order their Trueben sandwich was is definitely a favorite of mine. The bread is pretty amazing & I love their unique twist on a simple sandwich. I also got to finish my wife's BLT with advocado & it was pretty tasty. This morning we had breakfast at Cafe Sol. We entered the restaurant through a lovely patio area (where you can also eat). We were greeted warmly by the proprietor, Tabitha, and while waiting for our order we noticed how many of her guests she knew by name. The restaurant was clean, efficient, and had a nice variety of breakfast and lunch items. Clearly quality ingredients matter here. Everything was delicious! I love the atmosphere of this cute little cafe. I came here after a drill weekend at Camp Niantic and I know I will be back. When you walk in, you are greeted by the friendly staff and a big display of the menu. The girl who was working at the time helped me pick my order. The food was delicious and the prices were reasonable. I had the vegetarian sandwich and although it was good, the veggies were drenched in too much sauce. Waited forever for a bacon egg and cheese on a roll. When I got it I wasn't impressed- mainly with the roll, it was dry and flavorless. They do give you a tiny fruit cup which was neat, but made me feel guilty because of the extra packaging. Not a fan of all the wrappers and plastic involved. It feels like this place is about being seen in town and running into people you know rather than good food. wonderful place, love all the local art on the walls decorative and available for purchase. We met here as a woman's group for mothers day, the staff were more than helpful and patient as we tried to decide what we wanted and asked many questions, coffee and food were delicious and priced well. love the GF options also. very quiet and friendly environment, not once did we feel that we had overstayed our welcome. i would recommend this place for couples, families, and small groups for sure. their is more than enough room inside and on nice days outside also. will be back again soon for sure, I am glad i found you on google, and suggested we try it. thank you Cafe Sol for a wonderful experience today!!! read more

Cafe Sol is a lunch favorite of mine. Everything is fresh delicious and made to order.

I like what they're doing as far as the whole organic, local, healthy thing goes and that's why we chose to go here for breakfast...however, the portion sizes are very small so don't expect to fill up if you're hungry! Husband got the Popeye breakfast sandwich, was little bigger than a cocktail sandwich and for roughly $8, we were expecting a bit more food! We're not huge eaters, but come on. Taste was there, however, half the sandwich was dry of the "breakfast sauce", big sandwich no-no. Service was friendly but food came out slowly, so order ahead if you're taking to go! read more

Love this place, I always bring my friends here for breakfast when they come visit Niantic.

Fantastic variety on their menu for vegetarians and vegans. I had the Triple B, which was a black bean and sweet potato burger with all sorts of goodies in it like roasted peppers and corn served with avocado, hummus, lettuce, yogurt sauce etc on a wrap. It really hit the spot and was incredibly filling. It has some heat to it, but I like that. I honestly can't recall what I ate the last time I was here, but it was years ago, before I was vegetarian. The cafe itself has a lovely indoor seating area as well as a nice outdoor patio on the main drag. Great for people watching on a summer day. I do have to say, and I hope someone from the cafe reads this, the little plastic cups for the fruit are so, so unnecessary. Let's be more environmentally conscious! read more

Another Niantic staple run by teens. Calibrate for a local, quirky cafe and settle in. The coffee is delicious, the menu has a ton a veggie, vegan and gluten free options (and not). There is plenty of outdoor seating and a/c inside, booths and tables. I had the Mexicali wrap one day and the extended breakfast sandwich (deconstructed) on day 2. It was July 4th weekend and the place was slammed. The staff kept it together and rode the wave. I would have gone 4 stars but the "egg" appears to be reheated patties rather than fresh eggs. The place is small and quaint. There is some nice art work for the décor. The service was friendly. The food is expensive compared to what we are used to. A sandwich, a quesadilla, a lemonade and a smoothie came to over $30. The sandwich came with this little salad in a small cup, probably about a quarter of a cup measurement. It was not good and did not have a great smell. The sandwich was ok, definitely different. My son loved the quesadilla. The lemonade was very good and so was the smoothie. read more
