Just like its name implies, this cafe is right next door to Lecherona Los Amigos. We didn't stay inside to eat, but we bought some praline ice cream and a slice of chocolate cake for a sweet treat to pair with the lechon that we got next door! Service was quick-we just walked up and ordered. Both the ice cream and the cake were delicious and reasonably priced. I don't particularly mind that the balcony section of the cafe is now closed, even though it meant we had to sit in the Lechonera Los Amigos outdoor space to eat- but since we ordered food from there anyways, it just made sense to eat in the outdoor seating. read more

My family and I were so excited to go here and relax in a beautiful location with delicious coffee and pastries. When we got there, we were informed that we could not go inside. Instead we had to sit outside on dirty picnic tables in the parking lot with loud traffic going by. From there we ordered and the barista gave us attitude for not knowing we couldn't go inside, stating it's on the website, which we were unable to find. She continued with the attitude, telling us we didn't need to get mad at her for not being able to enter the cafe, but that's not the origin of our frustration, she was. When we got the coffee, it just wasn't good. The espresso was bitter and the I ed latte was watery (and still bitter which is amazing since it was a mocha with oat milk). Then leaving, we were trapped out of our car because the parking lot, we were just sitting in, requires everyone to back in to the spots, which is fine but the spots are for compact cars only. Since not everyone drives a compact, it is difficult to get in and out of the cars. TLDR: disappointing (coffee, location, service, ambiance) read more

Wow sleeper hit! This little house off the side of the road makes some of the best coffee in the island! Getting a good cup of espresso in Puerto Rico is harder than you'd think. Especially outside the "metropolitan area." My partner and I are self-aware coffee snobs and this random place next to a "lechonera" served us some of the best espresso we've had in a while. read more

My best friend has been talking to me about this place for years and I finally got to go yesterday with my mom. I had a mocha and my mom a cortadito, it was really good! Loved the ambience, the decor, and the outside sitting area. Also tried the tarta de manzana and the pistachio cake, the tarta was better. Best coffee in Puerto Rico!!! Great service, the owner and the baristas are so nice and the patio is adorable. They have good selections of beers and sweets. Besides it is the Lechonera Los Amigos and everything was yummylicious, specially the 'lechón and morcillas'. After eating a great lunch or dinner, do yourself a favor and end your meal with an amazing coffee. They sell and only make their own coffee. This is a fantastic little place. The coffee is amazing. I tried the cortadito and a latte as well, and both were made well and had a lovely presentation. They also had an amazingly eclectic variety of beers in bottles, including a respectable selection of Belgian style beers! To my shame I speak very little Spanish, however both times I went the staff were very obliging and switched to English to assist me. If it is not clear: you order at the counter which is immediately on the left as you enter the door. You pick up your order at the counter around the corner, on the back deck. The area around the deck is densely forested (and as noted, the local chickens may walk by among the tables). Between the trees and the umbrellas over the tables, if the usual island afternoon rain shower pops up you will stay nice and dry. The coffee shop shares a parking lot with Lechonera Los Amigos, which is an amazing example of the local cuisine, not to be missed. It is not a place for vegetarians, but if you like meat of any kind it's a great place to visit. It is also wildly popular, which means during peak times (lunch and dinner times on weekends) the shared parking lot can fill up. There was someone directing traffic in and out the first time I went. Remember that when it is crowded like this, you are expected to back into your parking space! read more

I stopped by this place by pure luck and boy was I glad! It was a rainy afternoon and I had a cup of coffee with a slice of cheesecake it was delicious! Service was friendly and their patio was gorgeous! Just great for some coffee on a rainy afternoon. I came to PR for just a few days for my wedding, and I had a longing for excellent coffee. Don't get me wrong, coffee in PR is an institution, and good coffee is fairly easy to find. Excellent coffee, however, is more of an artform. I had the privilege to make a pit stop next door at the great Lechonera Los Amigos for lunch en route to Ponce and little did I expect to find this gem. This place serves their own brand of coffee, Café Prieto, and the flavor is just outstanding. It's adequately strong, yet not burnt; it's balanced, creamy and smooth, and the flavor is consistent down to the last drop. The owner was kind enough to tell us the story behind the coffee shop and how he managed to establish his own brand of premium, hand-selected coffee, and I was just amazed at the quality. I expected great Puerto Rican food when I stopped next door, and I was very pleased with it. But this coffee just stole the show. If you ever have the chance to go to Guavate, stop at Los Amigos for excellent lechón and mofongo (very delicious mofongo btw, do yourself the favor.) it's the first joint you see when you get off the freeway. After that walk into Café Prieto, order their excellent coffee and walk out the back to their impressive patio to relax and enjoy the view. You're welcome. read more

The best thing that I actually found about Café Prieto was the actual area in which it was that it was very cultural and when you walk in you knew that you were actually going to something at the local people actually hung out at as far as the environment goes it could have been better made for this place and is ideal location for exactly what they want to do their selection of coffee is incredible their pastries are delicious and the environment seals the deal. read more

Nice place for a good cup of coffee, or an artisanal beer. Service is good, no waiter service. All local products. Good coffee. Had a latte with a couple of cookies on the side. It's cozy, has a nice terrace surrounded by bamboo that looks down to the river below. You almost forget that you are beside a busy expressway exit, or just beside a busy lechonera. Music was a bit loud for me for a Sunday, but wasn't too bad. When I was there it was raining, yet you almost don't get wet under the umbrellas. Definitively a place to return to. read more

This place is so peaceful. You can sit outside where there's a wonderful view of the river and bamboo trees. Feel the cool forest breeze, hear the water traveling underneath and take in all the different tones of green from the trees while sipping on some coffee or tea and eating a nice dessert. We were in the lechoneria next door and came in out of curiosity. We were pleasantly surprised! The coffee was delicious, but the view was amazing. They have the deck overlooking the river, and the shade makes it 10 degrees cooler than the outside temperature. Definitely worth the stop and would highly recommend. Parking can be difficult, though. read more
